***** Clematis Pizza, 523 Clematis Street, West Palm Beach, Florida 33401, (561) 655-6656.

Got a real good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you, Clematis Pizza in West Palm Beach. A real hole-in-the-wall!- something like 6 tables inside and maybe 3 outside on the sidewalk!

A real simple tale to tell you guys…

The other night, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple gave the joint a shot for dinner and I gotta tell you that the medium cheese pepperoni pizza, large meat lovers calzone, 12″ chicken parmigiana sub, penne ala vodka (house salad, garlic rolls) and lasagna with meat sauce (house salad, garlic rolls) which we ordered were all right on the money! For you guys into “pecking orders”- I’m thinking chicken parmigiana sub, pizza, lasagna, calzone, penne ala vodka, while Mrs. Jeff Eats had it, calzone, pizza, chicken parmigiana sub, penne ala vodka/lasagna (tied), while the other couple had it- I don’t know, because Jeff Eats didn’t ask them! The point of this exercise, food ‘reviewing” is a totally subjective game, so what I may like you may hate and vice versa- so on and so forth!

To wrap it all up for you guys, Jeff Eats really enjoyed the food, the service was as pleasant as could be, the prices were extremely reasonable- and I know that Jeff Eats would definitely eat in the joint again!

Clematis Pizza is open Sunday-Wednesday 11am-10pm, Thursday-Saturday 11am-4am (only pizza -after 10pm).

You can check menu/prices/info at clematispizza.com.

***** Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse, 9181 West Glades Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33434, (561) 488-9688.

The article below first appeared on January 7, 2016. In a nutshell, in that article- Jeff Eats told you guys to be on the “look-out” for Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse a new bbq-joint which had recently opened in Boca Raton-with a promise that as soon as I tried it- I’d get you guys an update…

Long story short, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats ate at Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse this past Friday night (1/15/2016), so here goes…

Boca’s Best BBQ seats something like 40 people- counter seating/table seating. It also has a couple of sidewalk tables outside its front door.

Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse is open 7 days a week 7am-9pm (breakfast is served daily 7am-11:30am).

Just so you guys know, when Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats arrived, we introduced ourselves to owners- Nathan and Scott Gibson- and obviously being smart businessmen and really pleasant guys, they insisted that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “sample” all kinds of stuff-on the arm! Sampled items included, bbq baby back ribs, fried chicken, smoked corned beef, smoked pastrami, smoked brisket, pulled pork, steamed brown rice, sweet mashed potatoes, collard greens, mac n cheese and I gotta tell you, “comped or not comped” the food was real good! Regular Jeff Eats’ readers know that I’m really not into pecking orders, but I gotta tell you- the fried chicken and baby backs absolutely killed! Like I said 1- second ago, everything was real good, but trust Jeff Eats when I tell you…fried chicken and baby backs!

You guys can check Boca’s Best BBQ’s & Smokehouse’s menu/prices at bocasbestbbq.com.

Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse has been open for something like 1-week…with that in mind, Jeff Eats found the service to be- shall we say a bit uneven! The bet here, is that the Gibson Brothers will quickly get the kitchen/wait-staff on the same page! On the price front- pretty much in-line with other Boca Raton bbq joints (though a downward tweak of a buck or two-on certain items, wouldn’t hurt), except I found- Boca’s Best BBQ’s breakfast menu too limited and priced way too high for the area! The bet here, is that the Gibson Brothers will figure out on their own- what Jeff Eats just told you guys- and adjust the menu/prices accordingly!

Let me wrap this one up for you, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats really enjoyed Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse. Mark Jeff Eat’s words, once the service-kinks/breakfast menu/prices are ironed out, the joint is gonna do some real nice business!

I know that you guys like to know about stuff- before others do…

Just got this self-explanatory PRESS RELEASE from Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse…

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are gonna “try” the joint out sometime- in the next few weeks!

You guys now know “stuff” before almost anyone else in Boca Raton or for that matter South Florida does!

By the way (before Jeff Eats gets there, you get there, or someone else gets there)- you can checkout Boca’s Best BBQ & Smokehouse at bocasbestbbq.com.

Anyway,

We’ll “talk” real soon as to what-Jeff Eats thought about the food/decor/service!

Just a couple of “warm up” observations…the name Boca Best BBQ & Smokehouse-stinks! Don’t know a thing about the Gibson Brothers, but Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have eaten at/taken out from Sweet Dewey’s BBQ since January 19, 2015 (see Jeff Eats’ “review” 1/20/15) and its food was absolute dynamite! Sweet Dewey’s BBQ’s “hole in the wall” size -didn’t do justice to the delicious food that came out of its kitchen- if that makes sense to you guys?

Like I said, 2 seconds ago, we’ll talk next week about the “new” restaurant!

______

Anne Marie’s Italian American Pizzeria (Coconut Creek)

***** Anne Marie’s Italian American Pizzeria, 4570 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073, (954) 974-5683.

Yesterday, Jeff Eats and Mr. Jeff Eats spent a good part of the day watching some “playoff football” at our friends Mike and Lynn’s house in Coconut Creek. Mike and Lynn also had a whole bunch of other people over- I’m kinda thinking everybody counted 16- give or take!

Long story short, Mike and Lynn brought in a load of food- some was from Anne Marie’s Italian American Pizzeria in Coconut Creek…Mike and Lynn footed the bill and Jeff Eats’ only involvement with the food was going with Mike to Anne Marie’s to pick-it-up and of course eat “it” once we got it “home.”

Just so you guys know, Anne Marie’s is a “mom & pop” Italian red sauce joint- maybe 8 tables and some wall-counter seating! Absolutely nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination going on there!

Mike and Lynn’s order… 4 16″ cheese pizzas (1 sausage & pepperoni, 1 cheese, 1 green peppers, 1 meatball), 4 chicken parmigiana whole subs, 4 philly steak & cheese whole subs, 4 philly chicken & cheese whole subs, 4 philly sausage & cheese whole subs, 3 chicken & broccoli large strombolis, 3 steak large strombolis, 40 baked wings (honey garlic, teriyaki) and I gotta tell you, the stuff was delicious- just so you know, Jeff Eats “tried” everything- and this joint’s food was right on the money!

Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that food “reviewing” is a totally subjective situation- what I like, you may find disgusting and vice versa! With that in mind, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats loved Anne Marie’s food. No bs- here, free or “no” free (remember, Mike and Lynn paid) Anne Marie’s stuff was exactly what a bunch of folks watching playoff -football games were looking for – if that makes sense to you?

Let me wrap this one up for you guys, football or no football- if you live or work near Anne Marie’s you gotta try this joint!

You can check menu/prices info at annemariespizzeria.com.

If you wanna eat some- outrageously delicious Mediterranean/Greek stuff- go eat at Miami Mediterranean Cuisine in Miami Beach. Jeff Eats singled out the joint’s lamb chops (served over rice with house salad) for special mention, but trust me- it’s all good at this hole in the wall!

***** Miami Mediterranean Cuisine, 209 11th Street, Miami Beach, Florida 33139, (305) 674-8384.

Let me start off by saying that Jeff Eats LOVED-Miami Mediterranean Cuisine. The joint is a mom & pop “hole in the wall”-deal that does delicious Mediterranean stuff. Just so you know, maybe a handful of tables-so don’t plan on holding a Confirmation Party or nothing there. Jeff Eats was in there the other day for lunch-big-big-big takeout business (if I’m not mistaken, big-big-big = huge).

Miami Mediterranean’s menu isn’t gigantic, but trust me you’ll find what to eat…handful of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees. For complete menu/prices check miamimedcuisine.com.

Jeff Eats “tried” gyro ($6.50), chicken shish kebab ($6.50), Greek salad ($7.50), tzatziki ($4.00), babaghonush ($4.00) and really enjoyed everything.

Look! You guys know that Jeff Eats really isn’t into rankings and other such nonsense…I just love people who say- “That was the best pizza I ever ate.”- or “That was the best grilled cheese sandwich I ever had.” For crying out-loud, I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning. Hopefully you guys get Jeff Eats’ point!

Anyway,

With the above in mind, I gotta tell you that the everything I ate was delicious and the gyro-if memory serves me correctly, was one of the best that I’ve ever eaten…hey, I’m only human!

Let’s wrap this one up for you,

Miami Mediterranean Cuisine makes terrific stuff.

Jeff Eats highly recommends that you give it a shot.

The joint is open 7 days a week 11am-2am

Got an absolutely terrific seafood market/restaurant for you guys…Pop’s Fish Market in Deerfield Beach.

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, if you weren’t “looking” for Pop’s- you’d probably drive right pass the joint- really nothing to look at! Trust me on this one, bad move- as Pop’s is one of the best fish markets in all of South Florida- with all kinds of reasonably priced fresh/prepared seafood and other stuff!

Pop’s has been around since 1957- so Jeff Eats is kinda thinking that the joint must be doing something right!

image

Pop’s Fish Market is open Monday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, closed Sunday…Monday-Friday 11am-4pm, Saturday 11am-3pm Pop’s serves lunch.

Lunch…the joint has 1- communal table that seats 6. Pop’s menu (order at the counter)- in addition to a handful of daily “specials”- Pop’s will “cook to order” seafood in its counter-cases that you’d like!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have been eating in/taking out- for something like 20 years…fried, sautéed, blackened stuff- not a single bad outing!

This comedic chronicle looks at the decade-long tryst between the comedy icon and Sheba’s mother, playwright Ginger Reiter. Soon, Jackie’s wooing her each winter, whenever he’s in South Florida churning up laughs with the South Beach set. The trouble is, Jackie is also wooing Trixie, a gorgeous young Latina, and Rosa, a senior citizen with attitude, a fact that sends Ginger into romantic distress. After 10 years, she becomes pregnant, Jackie denies his paternity, while still yearning to be with her, and a complicated relationship begins.
