I will tell you, I’ve had those $60 tickets in the past and though they weren’t great (seats)-they worked. $60 was pricey-but at $24.50 a piece (forgetting the rest of the package’s stuff) they are a good deal.

Davie’s Best Pizza Bar (Davie)

***** Davie’s Best Pizza Bar, 4120 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33314, (954) 791-6077.

Recently came across a real-good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint…Davie’s Best Pizza Bar in Davie.

Now anyone over the age of-4 knows Davie’s menu-tons of appetizers, salads, pizzas, pastas, subs, entrees (soup or salad, pasta side, garlic rolls) so Jeff Eats won’t waste space going into detail.

Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple recently had dinner there…plain pizza, chicken parm sub, meatball sub, chicken cordon bleu sub, grilled chicken wings and I gotta tell you, everything was delicious. Just between you, me and lamppost–the thin/crispy/sweet sauce pizza-alone was worth the ride “down” to Davie and the 20-wings half topped with garlic parmesan and half topped with asian bbq were right on the money! Like I said 3 seconds ago, everything was delicious, but those two “items” really-really hit the spot.

Real simple…

Jeff Eats loved Davie’s Best Pizza Bar. Real good food. Reasonable prices. Pleasant service. Throw in an endless “stream” of Coke refills–and I was like a pig in sheeet!

One final note, if I got my facts straight- the owners of this joint also own Boca’s Best Pizza Bar (reviewed 2/25/11) in Boca Raton.

Davie’s Best Pizza Bar is open Monday-Saturday 11am-2am, Sunday noon-midnight.

Nikko’s Egg City (Haines City)

***** Nikko’s Egg City, 35510 Highway 27, Haines City, Florida 33844, (863) 353-2698.

Nikko’s Egg City…breakfast-lunch joint-1950’s retro decor-counter/booth/table seating.

Nikko’s menu is loaded with breakfast stuff, sandwiches, burgers, salads, entrees.

Nikko’s is open Tuesday-Sunday 7am-2pm, closed on Monday, breakfast is served all-day, lunch from 11am-2pm.

Before we get “started” here, Jeff Eats doesn’t care for the name Nikko’s Egg City one bit! The Nikko’s part is okay-but what’s with the Egg City? Real simple, this is a breakfast -lunch joint…nothing for nothing, Egg City’s name probably throws a ton of people off as to what’s going on there. Maybe Nikko’s Diner, but no way Nikko’s Egg City. Maybe Nikko’s Breakfast & Lunch, but no way Nikko’s Egg City!

Anyway,

Recently ate breakfast at Nikko’s Egg City and I gotta tell you that Jeff Eats really enjoyed the joint. The dishes “tried”- western omelette, cinnamon apple stuffed french toast, strawberry waffle were all delicious. Prices were reasonable, portions large, service was as friendly as could be.

You can check menu/prices/other info at nikkoseggcity.com.

Wrapping things up,

Like I said 4-seconds ago, Jeff Eats really enjoyed Nikko’s. Just so you know, I only did breakfast-but I’m thinking that based on the omelette/french toast/waffle–Nikko’s probably does a real nice job with its lunch stuff.

Nikko’s is a real good breakfast-lunch diner.

Siciliano’s Frozen Custard (Hollywood)

***** Siciliano’s Frozen Custard, 5917 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33021, (954) 985-8050.

Real simple concept…free standing hole in the wall that makes vanilla and chocolate custard/vanilla and chocolate soft serve ice cream…handful of toppings, shakes-no indoor seating, a few benches outside.

Remember the old comic bit-something like…

Now, you can call me Ray and you can call me J————————————————–but don’t ever call me Johnson!

Anyway,

Last week I gave Siciliano’s a shot–it was like 94 degrees in the shade and I gotta tell you that that the vanilla and chocolate custard was absolutely dynamite- same for the vanilla and chocolate soft serve ice cream.

Custard, ice cream…whatever! This is where the- Now, you can call me Ray bit is suppose to tie in …

Long story short,

Jeff Eats loves joints like Siciliano’s.

By the way, the custard and the soft serve would “still” be outrageously delicious even if it was only 93 degrees outside.

Siciliano’s is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm.

IF I HAD TO PICK JUST ONE FLORIDA PIZZA JOINT

Posted on August 12th, 2014 · Italian Miami Pizza · 8 Comments »

* IF I HAD TO PICK JUST ONE FLORIDA PIZZA JOINT.

This morning a neighbor of mine, Larry C asked me and I quote…

“Jeff, if you had to pick one Florida pizza joint to get pizza from, where would you go?”

Larry C’s question got me to thinking, that all of this food reviewing-rating-arguing-picking is just a “fun” exercise at best. Like I’ve said 2,030,005 times, what Jeff Eats likes you may hate and vice versa.

Everybody- at least the everybody(s) that I know, has his/her own opinion on everything in life. For crying out loud, I’ve changed my opinion on something, sometimes two or three times in a single day.

I’m not going to name names, but there are some food bloggers and food critics down here and elsewhere, who actually believe some of the crap that they write. The “detail” that they go into when “discussing” this dish and that dish–are mind boggling. What you might find sweet, I might find sour…What you might consider sharp, I might consider bland. Get my drift?

From Day-One, Jeff Eats has always used a 5 Star System…if I would go back to a particular joint- 5 stars, if I wouldn’t- 0 stars–real simple. Just so you know, sometimes when I’ve gone back, the second outing wasn’t as good as the first-so there’ another fly in the ointment for you!

For sure, like you-Jeff Eats has his favorite restaurants and favorite foods and I got my “own” lists–but I guarantee you, that your favorites/lists and mine would/will never exactly mirror each other. By the way, although I have impeccable taste…your calls are as good as mine–it’s just that simple.

Over Jeff Eats’ 8 years–on occasion I’ve bit and actually made lists for you guys…looking back at some of the “calls” not my finest days-

Now to answer Larry C’s question…for today

Original Frankie’s Famous Pizza, 9118 Bird Road, Miami, Florida 33165, (305) 221-0221 (reviewed-4/7/2008).
