Miller’s Ale House (Boca Raton)
Posted on March 24th, 2016 · American Boca Raton

***** Miller’s Ale House, 1200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 988-9142.

Jeff Eats is gonna take a shot here and “think” that you guys know what Miller’s Ale House is! If not- sports bar chain that currently has 51 joints in Florida, 1 in Georgia, 2 in Illinois, 1 in Maryland, 1 in Massachusetts, 2 in Nevada, 3 in New Jersey, 6 in New York, 1 in Ohio, 4 in Pennsylvania. You can check millersalehouse.com for locations/menu/prices/operating hours/info.

Way-back on July 12, 2008 Jeff Eats told you-about the Miller’s Ale House in Jupiter, Florida. In 2008 I described the joint’s food as being okay and perfectly priced! That tale is reprinted down-below.

If you guys can keep a secret, since that 7/12/2008 tale printed (until this past Monday) Jeff Eats hadn’t been back “to” a Miller’s Ale House. No particular reason, just hadn’t been back!

Long story short, this past Monday- Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Son Jeff Eats and Daughter Jeff Eats ate dinner at the Miller’s Ale House on Yamato Road in Boca Raton- and I gotta tell you, we had an absolutely great-time. Rather than bother you guys telling you -that this location has a separate bar area/booth/table seating, more flat screen tvs than you can count, a covered out door patio with its own bar, a menu loaded with appetizers- burgers- salads-wings- entrees- desserts- beers- booze…let me tell you that the fried calamari, chicken Caesar salad, chicken nachos, breaded boneless garlic wings, grilled teriyaki wings, bbq baby back ribs, bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, French fries that we ordered were all delicious.

Look! I don’t know about your family, but getting the members of Jeff Eats’ immediate family to agree on virtually anything- is a monumental task. With that in mind, last night-all four of us agreed that the food killed, that the prices were super reasonable and that the service was as competent/pleasant as could be!

As I mentioned a few seconds ago, Jeff Eats hadn’t been to a Miller’s Ale House in something like 7 1/2 years! All I can tell you guys- the joint was absolute dynamite! If the other 71 Miller’s are like the Yamato Road outpost- you now know about a sports bar “chain” that really has its act together- and is an absolute must try!

Miller’s Ale House is open Sunday 11am-midnight, Monday-Saturday 11am-2am.

***** Miller’s Jupiter Ale House, 126 Center Street, Jupiter, Florida 33458 (561) 746-7620

Miller’s owns and operates a “ton” and I do mean a “ton” of sports-bars/ale houses in South Florida. Check millersalehouse.com for locations/menu/prices/hours.

Miller’s joints all take on a local name…in Boca Raton, the joint is the Boca Ale House…in Jupiter the joint is the Jupiter Ale House…in Coral Springs the joint is the Coral Springs Ale House…so on and so forth.

Over the years, I have eaten in a number of Miller’s South Florida locations…my most recent meal being in the Jupiter Ale House 3 weeks ago. All of the Ale Houses look alike…big bar area, tvs galore, small game room, wood booths. The menus are the same…tons of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and entrees…something for everybody. Just so you know, the food is okay- not great…(operative word) OKAY… The prices are cheap…that’s the game…like a 20 oz. bone-in porterhouse steak with french fries for something like 10 bucks.

I have to tell you, that every so often, I really enjoy a grizzly-steak covered in grilled onions and french fries drenched in ketchup that costs $9.99…Sort of reminds me of Tad’s Broiled Steaks (you- New Yorkers know what I am talking about) circa 1960.

The Ale Houses are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Like I said, okay food priced perfectly.

By the way…some of you may not know, but Tad’s Broiled Steaks currently has a location at 152 West 34th Street, New York, New York 10001 (212) 630-0318…those were the days.

Great Value Caramel Coconut & Fudge Cookies (Walmart Supercenter- Delray Beach)

***** Great Value Caramel Coconut & Fudge Cookies.

These rat bastard cookies are one of the main reasons why Jeff Eats will not be able to fit in his tuxedo this coming Saturday- Night, May 6, 2017 for a Black Tie Wedding- that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are scheduled to attend in Aventura, Florida!

Three days ago, the pictured package and four of its brethren- cost Jeff Eats $1.88 a piece- at the Walmart Supercenter, 16205 South Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484.

Long story short- Jeff Eats was weak, all five packages are long gone and the cookies were absolutely delicious!

By the way, for the uneducated, Great Value- is Walmart’s “house-brand.”

You can check walmart.com for store locations/info.

Pizza Bar (Miami Beach)

***** Pizza Bar, 1627 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33139, (305) 672-6880.

For all you guys out there looking for off the chart delicious New York Style Pizza (thin crispy crust, sweet sauce, loads of gooey cheese, oil drip when the slice is pointed down) you gotta checkout- Pizza Bar in Miami Beach. Real simple concept at work there- order/pickup at the counter, humongous slices/ subs/ salads/ wings/ stromboli/ other stuff, counter seating, handful of tables inside/ outside, open Monday-Wednesday 11am-2am, Thursday 11am-3:59am. Menu/prices/info at pizzabar.com.

Long story short, last night- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats tried this joint and it blew us away. No bs- Pizza Bar’s pizza easily matched up against some of the best New York slices we’ve “enjoyed” over the past 60+ years in the 5- boroughs!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats also “did” a Greek salad and like the pizza it- was right on the money!

By the way, Pizza Bar’s wings and subs looked dynamite- so Jeff Eats is kinda thinking that Pizza Bar isn’t just a one trick pony- with the pizza! The next time Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are at Pizza Bar, we’ll do some wings and subs, so we’ll know for sure!

Subs or no subs, wings or no wings- based on its pizza alone- Pizza Bar is an absolute must try!

For our purposes let’s call Meaney’s Mini Donuts an off the chart terrific- hot freshly made fried donuts, soft serve ice cream, hot dog, walk-up/no seating- stand that’s open 7 days a week 8am-9pm.

Can’t think of even one single thing that- comes close to being wrong with this joint!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “found” Meaney’s Mini Donuts a couple of weeks ago…

Meaney’s Mini Donuts is an absolute must try!

Jeff Eats has been getting stuff from “take-out only” Chef Tai’s for something like 10 years.

Over the years, I’ve ordered tons of things like- egg rolls, bbq ribs, pan fried dumplings, roast pork fried rice, sweet & sour pork, pepper steak and I gotta tell you guys, I can’t recall even one outing where the food didn’t work!

If you live, work or play in Chef Tai’s Boca Raton neighborhood, this is a real good joint to know about when your’e looking for delicious Brooklyn Jewish American Chinese Food circa 1957!

Was just by Federal Highway and Yamato Road and saw a huge tractor-trailer unloading a shipment of cars- all with New York license plates.

Christmas Day 2014 + 2 Reformed Jews formerly from Brooklyn = Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats giving the nod to Chef Tai’s this year.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, I give up!

Jeff Eats’ 11/30/2010 Chef Tai’s “review” is reprinted down below.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Chef Tai’s…it’s a “mom & pop” takeout only Chinese joint, located in a big old-huge crappy strip center and it makes delicious stuff.

Chef Tai’s is a Chinese takeout-only joint in Boca Raton…surprise-surprise (courtesy Gomer Pyle), it is located in a “bombed-out” shopping center- that you probably wouldn’t drive into in a million years. That said…Chef Tai’s makes some delicious stuff. I heard about Chef Tai’s about 5 months ago– have gotten food four times…haven’t been disappointed even once.

Delicious- egg rolls, fried dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, roast pork fried rice, shrimp with black bean sauce, pepper steak.

You can check menu/prices at www.bocamenus.com.

Based on Jeff Eat’s patent-pending “Brooklyn Chinese Food Taste Test”- I gotta give Chef Tai’s a top-notch rating. Trust me on this, the food is really good.

Chef Tai’s is open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm, closed on Sunday

***** Kona Bay Cafe, 310 East Ocean Avenue, Lantana, Florida 33462, (561) 429-3606.

For our purposes we’re gonna call Kona Bay Cafe “an out of sight, out of mind” joint…

Long story short, way-back on 8/31/10 Jeff Eats told you guys about Kona Bay Cafe a “breakfast-lunch” joint in Lantana. The truth be told, Jeff Eats hadn’t been back since! How Come? Not really sure!

Anyway, yesterday afternoon Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple did an early lunch there- and I gotta tell you, the food killed and I’m kinda regretting that I pulled “an out of sight, out of mind” on the Kona Bay Cafe! Now no promises, but I’m gonna do my best to remember the joint for future breakfast-lunch outings!

You can check menu/prices/info at konabaycafecom.

The Kona Bay Cafe is open 7 days a week 7am-2pm.

***** Kona Bay Cafe, 310 East Ocean Avenue, Lantana, Florida 33462, (561) 429-3606.

Kona Bay Cafe is a super casual-beachy decor “breakfast-lunch” joint…that has counter & inside table /outside patio seating. Check www.konabaycafe.com for menu/prices and pictures that will “tell” you exactly what this joint looks like. Bathing suits are considered dresswear.

On the food front…nice, but not overly large-selection of breakfast-stuff (which is served all day). The lunch menu (like the breakfast menu, not overly large) has salads, wraps, sandwiches. A recent breakfast had me doing…a short stack of apple cinnamon pancakes ($4.95), a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes ($4.45), strawberry stuffed French toast ($6.45), western omelete ($7.95)—everything was just right.

Kona Bay is open 7 days a week for breakfast & lunch.
