Our Story

It all started in the 50s… Would you believe we started out as a small chain of convenience stores? It’s true. Way back in 1958. We were called Pronto Markets. In ‘67, our founder, the original Trader Joe, changed our name (yes, to Trader Joe’s) and the way we do business.

We made the stores bigger (if you can imagine), decked the walls with cedar planks and donned our crew in cool Hawaiian shirts. Most importantly, we started packaging innovative, hard-to-find, great-tasting foods under the “Trader Joe’s” name. That cut our costs and saved you money. Still does. And that’s important, because “Value” is a concept we take very seriously. And by ‘Value,’ we mean great everyday prices on all of our great products — no sales, no gimmicks, no clubs to join, no special cards to swipe… How do we do it?

We buy direct from suppliers whenever possible, we bargain hard to get the best price, and then pass the savings on to you.
If an item doesn’t pull its weight in our stores, it goes away to gangway for something else.
We buy in volume and contract early to get the best prices.
Most grocers charge their suppliers fees for putting an item on the shelf. This results in higher prices… so we don’t do it.
We keep our costs low — because every penny we save is a penny you save.

It’s not complicated. We just focus on what matters — great food + great prices = Value.

Okay, we skipped over a few milestones, but you can catch them in the Trader Joe’s Timeline. It’s a trip.

* On The Roxx.

A recent e-mail received by Jeff Eats…

Jeff,

Maybe you can help our Home Owner’s Association with finding a terrific local 80’s tribute dance band for an upcoming date in late January, 2018. Our community is located in Palm Beach Gardens and we expect to draw between 250-300 to the indoor event which will also feature a large themed buffet.

Any help that you can give us will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

John Davidson

__________

John Davidson,

Got the perfect band for you…On The Roxx.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have been- fans of the band for years. We’ve seen On The Roxx something like 7 times and every appearance was absolute-dynamite!

Thanks for reading,

Jeff Eats

***** On The Roxx *****

If you like ’80’s’ music, you absolutely positively got to check out- On The Roxx–a local 5 piece South Florida band which is developing a huge following. Recently caught them at Boston’s On The Beach in Delray Beach–and I am telling you, they are dynamite. Checkout www.ontheroxxband.com for schedule/videos.

Like I said before DYNAMITE…some of the best covers of Katrina And The Waves, Joan Jett, The Go Go’s, Rick Springfield that I have ever heard. The band has two terrific frontmen–Jack James and Diane DeNoble…they’ll have you believeing that the original artists are in the house.

Just so you know, over the next 3 months the band has 4- free-public appearances set to go…1 in Coconut Creek, 2 in Port Saint Lucie and 1 in West Palm Beach.

Do yourself a solid and catch them, you’ll have a great time.

***** DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday- 10/1/17- Mo’s Bagels & Deli).

One of Jeff Eats’ favorite menu items…

SWEET & SOUR CABBAGE SOUP
$5.34-$8.55 (pint-quart)

Mo’s Bagels & Deli
2780 Northeast 187th Street
Aventura
(305) 936-8555
Latest Review: 8/24/08

Really not too much to say, other than Mo’s Bagels & Deli is one of the best bagel-deli joints in South Florida and its sweet & sour cabbage soup is off the hook delicious!

***** Mo’s Bagel & Deli, 2780 NE 187th Street, Aventura, Florida 33180, (305) 936-8555.

Mo’s Bagel & Deli is a New York-Kosher Style-Bagel/Deli joint. Mo’s is open Monday 7am-4pm and Tuesday-Sunday 7am-9pm.

You know and I know, that South Florida has more New York-Kosher Style-Bagel/Deli joints than there are Chins in a Chinese phonebook…some are good, some are very good, some are great and some are lousy.

If you live in the Aventura area, Mo’s (which falls into the very good box) is a joint that you want to know about. Excellent hand-rolled bagels…delicious appetizing…very good deli meats and other stuff like potato pancakes and soups…clean/large joint…very reasonable prices. The joint is always jammed for Saturday-Sunday breakfast…Enormous take-out business. Mo’s is located about 5 minutes from the Aventura Mall.

You now know, what you need to know, about Mo’s.
