The famous cone with the iconic curl on top takes center stage on the first day of spring as the Dairy Queen system offers up a celebratory sweet giveaway.

Participating non-mall Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill locations across the U.S. will celebrate the Fourth Annual Free Cone Day on March 20, the first day of spring. Fans will enjoy a free small vanilla soft serve cone with the signature curl on top (limit one per customer while supplies last). At the same time, participating locations also will collect donations for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“Silky smooth DQ soft serve is truly one of life’s simple pleasures. Our cone with the curl on top is one of the most recognized treats in the world and that signature curl is a DQ quality test we take tremendous pride in,” says Maria Hokanson, executive vice president of marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “There’s a reason DQ soft serve tastes so delicious and special. From cow to cone, dairy farmers and local operators take tremendous pride in bringing smiles to millions of fans’ faces through our creamy DQ soft serve.”

For more than 30 years, the Dairy Queen system of independently owned restaurants franchised by ADQ, a Berkshire Hathaway company, has raised more than $130 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in local communities.

“We’re excited for our fourth annual Free Cone Day,” adds Hokanson. “This day has become a spring tradition and a sign that warmer weather is upon us.”

Last year, the Dairy Queen system of fans and franchisees contributed nearly $300,000 in one day for local hospitals.

Got a real good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you guys to checkout- Labby’s Pizza & Pasta in Port Saint Lucie.

Real simple tale to tell, about a week or so ago- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats visited a couple of friends, John and Ellen who live in Port Saint Lucie- and they bought us dinner at Labby’s Pizza & Pasta a “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint which is something like 8 minutes from their house. Nothing- I’m sure that you guys haven’t seen decor-wise, menu-wise (full boat of- appetizers, pizzas, pastas, pizzas, subs, entrees which come with soup or salad/pasta side/garlic knots), service-wise, price wise!- that said, real solid delicious food!

Trust Jeff Eats on Labby’s- it’s a real good joint to know about. For sure, if Labby’s was in our Boca Raton neighborhood (which unfortunately it isn’t)-Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats would definitely be real steady customers!

Southeast Florida Honor Flight, a 100% volunteer organization, is one of the many hubs dedicated to honoring WWII Veterans by flying them to Washington, DC to visit their memorial at absolutely no cost to the veteran. Formed in 2008 to originally service Florida’s Treasure Coast, our hub has grown to include the following counties: Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Palm Beach.

Veterans (mostly WWII Veterans at this time) are flown to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorial. Top priority is given to our most senior patriots – WWII Veterans and veterans who are terminally ill. Funds are raised to make sure that every one of the special individuals flies absolutely free. Their journey to Washington, DC includes bus transportation, meals, t-shirts, and any other amenities that are required to travel comfortably. Disabled veterans are also welcome, and with advanced arrangements, complimentary wheelchairs, oxygen, and medical staff will be available.

Every trip is escorted by a team of well-trained volunteers and guardians, who personally accompany this elite group of visitors on the aircraft and to their memorial. The volunteers and guardians pay their own way ensuring that 100% of the proceeds go to the mission.
Our mission is to make visiting the WWII Memorial a reality for as many veterans as possible.
