Way-back on 2/15/12 Jeff Eats told you guys about NYY Steak located in the Seminole Casino Creek Coconut Creek- in Coconut Creek. That “review” is down-below…

Long story short, since that “review” was published, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have eaten in NYY something like 5-times, with the latest “outing”- being last night. For what it’s worth, all of the meals that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have had, were all right on the money!

Last night, I got to thinking that Jeff Eats rarely if ever hears- NYY Steak mentioned in conversations about South Florida’s best steak-joints. No ifs, ands or buts- the 26oz bone-in-ribeye with grilled onions and French fries- that I had last night and didn’t come close to finishing- could easily be matched against the best of breed down here in sunny South Florida-same story for Mrs. Jeff Eats’ pan seared snapper!

Anyway,

Jeff Eats just wanted to mention NYY Steak to you guys, again…

It’s a very good steak joint!

***** NYY Steak, (Seminole Casino Coconut Creek) 5550 Northwest 40th Street, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073, (954) 997-6700.

Go figure!

One of the best-“upscale steakhouses” in South Florida is located at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in- Coconut Creek…That’s right, the casino where you-gotta wear an oxygen mask because the cigarette smoke is so brutal—as part of a recently completed $150,000,000 renovation/expansion has opened an absolutely georgeous looking steakhouse with fabulous food and service. You can check www.seminolecoconutcreekcasino.com for menu/prices/photos. By the way, NYY is a joint venture–Seminole Indians/New York Yankees (there is another NYY at Yankee Stadium).

NYY…New York Yankees, get it? All kinds, of New York Yankee black/white photos, autographs…no dark wood–or dim lights here…but rather, a great looking open kitchen, light oak woods, bright lights, plenty of glass. Like I said before, an absolutely gorgeous looking joint.

When you check NYY’s menu, try not to get sticker-shock…no question about it- that $51.75 24oz bone in ribeye is “high” even for an upscale steakhouse–Now, I maybe going out on a limb here, but I think- that casino-joints like NYY get a ton of customers using their casino “PLAYER’S CLUB” rewards/points to pay the bill. If I’m right—the restaurant can charge more than what most folks would consider “normal”- because many customers aren’t using real-money. So, if you go there, I think you will find that many of the “diners” are eating on-the-arm.

At this juncture of the discussion, let me tell you that NYY looks totally out of place at the Seminole Casino. Nothing for nothing, but the Seminole Casino isn’t in this boy’s opinion–an upscale looking property. Now, there may-be something more developing at the Seminole Casino that’s gonna get it looking more like the Hard Rock operation in Hollywood-so NYY may eventually make sense, but for right now, NYY looks like a fish out of water. Personally, I don’t see non-casino players making special plans/reservations to eat at NYY, despite the fact that its food is absolutely dynamite.

A recent dinner had me “doing” the aforementioned 24oz ribeye, 28oz porterhouse ($54.75), veal chop milanase ($44.50), roast chicken ($28.50), lemon pepper halibut ($31.50), steak fries ($9.50), lobster mac & cheese ($11). Every item was delicious. On the service front, excellent without the “snotty” know-it-all attitude you find at many upscale steakhouses.

There are two ways to play NYY Steak. You can gamble your heart out…and accumulate points to spend or you can just fork over cash or your credit card at the end of the meal.

NYY Steak is a homerun…pun intended!

NYY Steak is open Monday, Thursday-Sunday 5pm-11pm. The joint is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

***** Village Tavern, 1880 North Congress Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida 33426 (561) 853-0281.

Last night I gave Village Tavern an “American Style” joint located in Boynton Beach a shot…there is also a Village Tavern in Pembroke Pines—when you check the joint’s website www.villagetavern.com for menu/prices you will find that there are a handful more in several other states.

Village Tavern seats something close to 300. There is a dining room and separate bar area.

The best way to describe Village Tavern’s decor—think Cheesecake Factory, Houston’s, J. Alexander’s and you got the picture.

Last night, this joint was jammed. I will tell you, that an 8pm reservation for 4–was honored.

Now let’s talk food…the menu is loaded with appetizers, salads, pastas, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, meat-seafood-chicken entrees. This evening I “did” bbq pulled pork sliders (3-with french fries $8.50), bacon cheeseburger ($9.95), grilled talapia ($16.95), grilled chicken & penne ($14.50), shrimp scampi ($15.95)…I enjoyed all of the food, except the french fries which were on the “limp” side.

Village Tavern is a WINNER. Nice sized portions. Very reasonable prices. Pleasant and competent waitstaff.

Village Tavern is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11am, Sunday 10am-11pm

The “Reverend” Bob Levy is an American stand-up comedian, radio personality, and, for a brief period, a professional wrestler who is best known as being a regular personality on The Howard Stern Show as well as being the co-host of the Miserable Men show on Howard 101. He has often been the host of comedy roasts, was a frequent guest on the Opie and Anthony Show and was a stand-up comedy performer on the Killers of Comedy tour. During Levy’s early days in comedy, former Stern show writer Jackie Martling awarded Levy the title “Reverend.” When asked why he was given the name in an article, Levy replied “…because I was a filthy fuckin’ pig, and he wanted to call me the opposite of what I was doing onstage…”.

Artie Fletcher is one of the Entertainment Industry’s most talked-about “must-see” performers
Artie has been seen on Law and Order, Conan O’Brien, David Letterman and The Tonight Show just to name a few! He has performed his dynamic act in such places as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Radio City Music Hall, Westbury Music Fair, The Toyota Comedy Festival, The Chicago Comedy Festival, Universal Orlando and more! Artie opened for the likes of Joan Rivers, Regis Philbin, Howie Mandell and Tony Bennett. Regis Philbin described Artie’s ability to entertain and adjust his act to any situation as “Just unbelievable!” Joan Rivers affirmed, “The most interesting thing about Artie is that I’ve never seen so much energy from any person on and off stage.” Artie is currently on tour with The Jokes On You Comedy Tour with Bob Nelson and Jimmie JJ Walker. He also has tour dates with “The Reverend” Bob Levy!

Happy Father’s Day-2019 (Howley’s Restaurant- West Palm Beach)

* Happy Father’s Day-2019.

Just in case you guys were wondering where Daughter Jeff Eats and Son Jeff Eats are taking Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats for lunch- this coming Sunday (6/16/19) for Father’s Day-2019…

Posted on December 5th, 2014

***** Howley’s Restaurant, 4700 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, (561) 833-5691.

Got something really terrific for you guys…Howley’s Restaurant in West Palm Beach…for our purposes let’s call Howley’s a diner.

You know what “out of sight, out of mind” means? Sure you do…Well! Howley’s fits the bill…great- diner in West Palm Beach, which Boca Raton resident-Jeff Eats keeps forgetting about…just that simple…”out of sight, out of mind.”

Long story short…

Last night after dropping Son Jeff Eats off at Palm Beach International Airport- the combination of 2 wrong left turns followed by 3 wrong right turns and a fight with Mrs. Jeff Eats over my not being able to follow her instructions-we ended up right in front of Howley’s Restaurant. The joint looked exactly the same as when I first told you guys about it way back on June 17, 2008…making lemonade out of lemons-the crab-cakes that Mrs. Jeff Eats had and my bacon cheeseburger & French fries were delicious.

If you haven’t “yet” been to Howley’s…it’s an absolute must try…

Howley’s is open Sunday-Thursday 7am-2am, Friday-Saturday 8am-5am.

By the way, that June 17, 2008 write-up printed is down below.
*****

June 17th, 2008 · American Breakfast West Palm Beach
***** Howley’s Restaurant, 4700 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, (561) 833-5691.

One of my favorite South Florida joints to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at is Howley’s Restaurant which is on Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.

This joint has been around since 1950…and is basically an old fashioned diner. Other than a flat screen tv here and there, you’ll swear that you are in a diner circa 1950. This joint doesn’t play the Johnny Rocket’s game. The decor is the real McCoy.

Howley’s does “everything.” Breakfast-lunch-dinner…In addition to a counter, there is booth and table seating. There is also an outdoor dining patio.

Just so you know, the guy who owns the famous Dada Restaurant located in Delray Beach bought Howley’s about 3 years ago…soooo the food is absolutely top-notch. This joint makes crab-cakes, the likes of which you have never tasted before.

Over the past few years, I probably have eaten in this joint 20 times. I absolutely love the atmosphere, the food and the hip-youngsters that comprise the wait-staff (no they don’t wear 1950’s costumes).

Howley’s prices are “all over the place.” There are all kinds of bargain specials, but some of the dishes are pretty pricey. Like I said before, this is a diner whose short-order-cooks were replaced by top-notch chefs.

This is a great place. If you look closely, you will see that Howley’s is right next door to a NO TELL MOTEL circa 1950. I sure wish Howley’s walls could talk.

Howley’s is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As for the crowd…tee shirts/shorts…tuxedos…suits…bikers…you name it.

Great place. Don’t miss it.

Found a terrific bakery for you guys to checkout – Del Sol Bakery in Boynton Beach.

Real easy concept at work here- Del Sol Bakery is an open space “working” bakery- where you see the stuff being made. There are no display cases, there are no tables to sit at- for eating/ drinking coffee/ schmoozing, real nice selection of artisan breads/ pastries/ scones/ cookies/ cakes…

The other day Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats picked-up a good handful of items and I gotta tell you, absolute dynamite!

Let me wrap-up Sol Del Bakery by telling you guys that this joint’s stuff is off the chart delicious! Being born and bred Brooklynites circa 50s-60s Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats kinda think we know what good bakeries are all about- and I am telling you guys that although Del Sol’s physical layout isn’t like the Ebinger’s (and other top notch bakeries of that era) that our mothers and we shopped in- Del Sol Bakery would definitely have been able to play in the same league!

Del Sol Bakery is open Monday-Saturday 7:30am-2:30pm, closed Sunday.
