* Elvis Presley’s Jets For Sale.

Jeff Eats just read the below-story on dailyfinance.com.

Nothing for nothing, Jeff Eats is “still” a big-fan…but don’t you think that THIS is really-pissing money away?

I could-see maybe springing for a guitar, or maybe a cape, or maybe even a jumpsuit or two…but this!

Thank you very much.

Got Lots of Money, Honey? You Can Buy Elvis’ Jets.

Elvis Presley’s pair of personal jets, one complete with gilded wash basin and plush sleeping quarters, will go under the hammer in a sealed-bid auction, Julien’s Auctions, of Beverly Hills, California, said on Friday.

Jets “Lisa Marie” and “Hound Dog II” that the late King of Rock and Roll designed himself will be offered together to bidders and are expected to fetch between $10 million and $15 million. They are no longer airworthy, but have been on view for visitors at Graceland — Presley’s Memphis, Tennessee, estate — for the past three decades. Presley bought the Convair 880 jet from Delta Air Lines in 1975, two years before his death at age 42, for $250,000. He named it “Lisa Marie” after his daughter. Presley spent more than $300,000 refurbishing the jet with a penthouse bedroom, executive conference room, bar and videotape system linked to four TVs. He had the plane painted red, white and blue with his motto “TCB” — “Takin’ Care of Business” — on the tail.

He purchased the eight-to-10 passenger “Hound Dog II,” a Lockheed Jetstar, also in 1975 for about $900,000 while waiting on the refurbishment of the “Lisa Marie.” The four-engine 28-passenger Convair could fly Presley, who preferred to travel at night, up to 3,000 miles. Only 65 of the Convair 880 model jets were produced from 1959 to 1962.

The buyer also has the option to purchase several acres adjacent to Graceland to display the jets, independent of the Presley museum. An agreement between Graceland and the jets’ current owners, whose identity wasn’t disclosed, is set to expire at the end of April.

* Lavell Crawford.

One of the hippest-funniest comedians currently working the comedy club/casino/event circuit.

Crawford works “blue”- but trust Jeff Eats, unless you’re a- nun-or something, you’ll be able to handle him. Crawford always has a “twinkle” in his eyes-that tell- you that he’s just playing with you…by the way, no insult intended to Jeff Eats’ readers who just happen to be nuns!

Lavell Crawford is scheduled to appear at the Palm Beach Improv, Januray 9-11, 2015. You can catch tickets at palmbeachimprov.com.

Guaranteed this is a SRO thing! This guy is huge (pun intended).

Red Cow (Fort Lauderdale)

***** Red Cow, 1025 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304, (954) 652-1524.

Last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate in a bbq-joint named Red Cow. Just this simple, some of the most delicious bbq-that I’ve eaten in a very long time.. By the way don’t quote me, but I’m thinking the joint has been open something like 18 months!

I’d be lying to you-if I actually tried to explain the bbq-“style” Red Cow uses…I know that I have kids who went to sleep away camp in Asheville, North Carolina… I’ve flown over Dallas at least 23 times and I recall having been to Atlanta, Georgia 7 times- but I’m just not qualified to tell you styles.

Anyway,

Like I said 2.3 seconds ago, some of the most delicious bbq-going! For sure, I can tell you that the stuff is definitely “smoked”- but not smoked where the smoke overwhelms everything. I can also tell you, that Red Cow “uses” dry rubs and 3- actually make that 4 types of bbq-sauce if you want to “customize” your bbq.

Let me tell you what Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple “tried”…but before I do, I just want you to know, that Red Cow’s portions are ENORMOUS- so when you go, figure on sharing “dishes”- you’ll “save” some cash and- just as important, get to try-all kinds of stuff.

The folks who own Red Cow know what they are doing, they have a menu that has a handful of appetizers and salads, a list of bbq entrees that literally allows you to mix and match what shows up, a load of sandwiches, sides and desserts. Before Jeff Eats gets to the “eating”…I wanted to mention that our waiter Garrett was amazing-good. He knew the menu cold, made great recommendations and made sure that the beer and soda glasses were never empty.

Last night our party of 4- had…iron skillet corn bread, chopped salad, beef ribs, baby back pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, prime rib, rotisserie chicken, corn fritters, corn on the cob, cowboy mashed potatoes, jalapeno cheddar sausages, fried brussel sprouts, coleslaw, peanut butter/white chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream. Hey! I already told you that the portions were enormous and the joint lets you customize what shows up on your plate. Just so you don’t get scared- or nothing- the most expensive item on the menu the- Eat More Meat Combo runs 23 bucks and I’m telling you, it can easily feed 3 people (unless one of the 3 is my friend Bobby G. who clocks in around 287, wears a size 52 suit and claims to have some kinda gland problem).

Now, nothing for nothing- I tried everything…and of course- some stuff was better than some other stuff! I will tell you, that the chopped salad (shallot Dijon vinaigrette), beef brisket, prime rib, wagyu beef ribs, cowboy mashed potato and chicken were absolute dynamite and I do mean dynamite. Not to be too repetitive, everything we had was delicious, but the stuff I just mentioned- really caught my attention.

At this stage of the game you can check redcowftl.com for menu/prices/info.

Finally, real cool casual décor, full liquor bar, large tv screens, you can wear shorts/tee shirts/flip flops and the odds say-you’ll leave with a bag full of leftovers.

Red Cow is a winner. You definitely got to try this joint!

Red Cow is open Monday-Saturday 11:30am-10pm, Sunday for brunch 9:30am-1:30pm and then 1:30pm-9pm.

Argentinian Deli- part grocery store/part fast food restaurant/part deli…real simple, this joint makes some of the most delicious empanadas that Jeff Eats has ever eaten. Now you gotta trust me here, when I tell you that-in my day-I’ve eaten my fair share of empanadas and Argentinian Deli’s stuff is amazing-delicious. The joint usually runs a “special” 3 for 6 bucks and throws a can of soda into the mix. Last time I was there, the joint had 9 different fillings- it also has all kinds of appetizers, sandwiches, entrees. Kick-off 2015 right and catch some stuff at Argentinian Deli-its food is terrific.

Rosedale Brick Oven (Coral Springs, Naples)

***** Rosedale Brick Oven, 2049 North University Drive, Coral Springs, Florida 33071, (954) 752-3556.

Couldn’t have picked a better joint than Coral Spring’s- Rosedale Brick Oven… to have “broken” my 43 hours old-2015 New Year’s Diet Resolution. Just so you know, Rosedale also has a joint in Naples, Florida-so now you know!

Long story real short, Jeff Eats has eaten in a ton of wood fired-pizza joints and I gotta tell you, Rosedale is absolute dynamite.

Helping Jeff Eats celebrate the “diet demise” was Mrs. Jeff Eats, Son Jeff Eats and Daughter Jeff Eats…ordered stuff included- wings italiano ($10-10 wings), mista salad (large-$9), white pizza ($10.50- mozzarella/ricotta-garlic/basil/virgin olive oil), New York pizza ($9.50-tomato sauce/mozzarella), meat lasagna ($14) and I gotta tell you, everything was delicious.

Like I said 2.6 seconds ago, Jeff Eats has eaten in a ton-of wood fired-pizza joints, some good, some not so good! Trust me on the call here, this Rosedale joint is right-up there with the- best South Florida players.

In a second or two I’m gonna let you check menu/prices/locations/info at rosedalepizza.com…but before I do, let me tell you that “unlike” most of its wood fired brethren with their relatively limited menus, Rosedale’s menu- (in addition to the expected salads, pizzas, wings and handful of other stuff)-has loads of appetizers, sandwiches, pastas, meat/chicken/seafood entrees…so nobody and I do mean nobody in your party- is gonna bitch because they couldn’t find what to eat.

To wrap it up for you…dynamite food, reasonable prices, super pleasant service, your tee shirt/shorts/flip flop ensemble will work well…

Rosedale is open Monday-Thursday 11:30am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 11:30am-10pm, Sunday noon-9pm.
