We will be there!

Karate Kobudo Rengokai along with Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa, Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa, and Urgo Hotels and Resorts, will host a Karate Kicks Cancer event on June 5 from 6-9 p.m. at Marriott Pompano Beach.

Karate Kicks Cancer will feature small bites from local guest chefs, including Larry LaValley, executive chef of 3800 Ocean at Marriott Singer Island, and cocktails from sponsors including Ty Ku Sake and Real McCoy Rum. A live band and DJ entertainment will keep the crowd on their feet, as well as a silent auction and karate demonstration. There is a $25 per guest suggested donation. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Karate Kicks Cancer is part of a two day Karate Seminar, June 5-6, honoring the late Sensei Jed Oyasato who lost his battle to cancer last year. The seminar includes a benefit and an association dinner. Special room rates are also available at Marriott Pompano Beach.

WHAT: To celebrate National Donut Day, your neighborhood Winn-Dixie is putting a sweet spin on a sugary holiday by offering customers a free powdered donut hole at their neighborhood in-store bakery (limit one per guest, per store visit, while supplies last).

WHY: To celebrate a 78-year tradition started in Chicago, Illinois, by the Salvation Army in 1938 to raise funds during the Great Depression.

National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June and commemorates the work of the “donut lassies,” who served fresh donuts to American soldiers (nicknamed “doughboys”) during World War I.

Got something off the chart good- for you guys…Poppa’s BBQ in Clearwater.

Real simple concept going on here…order at/pickup at the counter-smoked bbq joint- something like a dozen 4-top tables inside, handful of benches outside.

If you’re looking for “frills”…wrong joint!

A recent lunch outing had Jeff Eats “trying”- 1/2 rack of Memphis style dry rubbed baby back ribs ($10.49), pulled pork sandwich (comes with 2-sides and a drink- $5.99), chicken plate (smoked chicken breast, 2 sides, bun-$6.29) and I gotta tell you, everything blew me away. The food was absolute dynamite.

Just so we are straight with each other, Poppa’s menu is kinda “limited” but I’m thinking that there is enough stuff on it- so nobody in your party is gonna starve or nothing!

Let me wrap this up for you, Poppa’s BBQ is an absolute homerun…

Last week-(May 22nd & May 23rd) the Sinatra Sintennial Show played to SRO crowds at the 350-seat Seminole Hard Rock Paradise Live Theatre in Hollywood…

The “Show” is now booked for Father’s Day-Sunday, June 21st at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s The Pavilion 1,160 seat showroom.

Just so you know, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats caught last Saturday Night’s show- and it was terrific…this guy Jeff Grainger “got” Sinatra down-real good!

Like I said 2 seconds ago, if you like Sinatra, you gotta go see the Sinatra Sintennial Show- a 90 minute non-stop musical tribute celebrating -Ol’ Blue Eyes’ 100th Birthday!

Just a final thought for you guys thinking Father’s Day Present…every seat at The Pavilion “works”…so just maybe you “buy” dad and hopefully mom… shall-we-say inexpensive tickets and spend the rest of your cash feeding them at one of the Casino’s restaurants!
