***** Golden Pavilion, 201 North US Highway 1, Jupiter, Florida 33477, (561) 747-7470.

Got a real good Chinese joint for you guys- Golden Pavilion in Jupiter.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently did an early dinner there- and I gotta tell you, Golden Pavilion’s food was right on the money!

In addition to a menu loaded with real good Brooklyn Jewish American Chinese Food circa 1957- Golden Pavilion has a dim sum menu (served every day) for you guys who like to play that game!

Just between us guys, Boca Raton resident Jeff Eats can only think of two eat-in Chinese joints by my house-(5 miles) whose food comes even close to being as good as Chinese Pavilion’s is! By the way, 42 miles one way- is way outside of Golden Pavilion’s delivery radius!

You can check menu/prices/info at goldenpavilionfl.com.

Golden Pavilion is open 7 days a week 11am-10pm.

***** Oh Biscuit, 846 West Esau Gallie Boulevard, Melbourne, Florida 32935, (321) 242-2777.

Got a terrific breakfast-lunch joint for you guys, Oh Biscuit in Melbourne.

Real easy concept at work there, order-pickup at the counter, handful of tables inside and outside, Petticoat Junction decor, delicious- home made biscuits/ home made cinnamon rolls/ home made other stuff, big portions, cheap prices, pleasant service, open Tuesday-Friday 7am-1:30pm, Saturday 7:30am-12:30pm, closed Monday.

Right up front, I gotta tell you guys- the Oh Biscuits of this world- make eating out fun! Trust Jeff Eats- literally 9 times out of 10, chains like Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, Panera Bread, IHOP, Wendy’s can’t hold a candle to the “mom & pop” joints serving up the same “kind” of food!

Anyway,

Enough pontificating!

The other day, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Oh Biscuits…and we really had fun!

Let Jeff Eats wrap Oh Biscuit up for you guys, it’s an absolute must try!

Charlie Romo: Video/Audio/Schedule/Info- charlieromo.com

from bocablacbox.com
With intense excitement and enthusiasm, Charlie has a way of turning back the clock, without imitation, and like a kindred spirit, he embodies and channels the soul and sound of these cherished legends, the likes of Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, and Bing Crosby. Charlie and his band gets his audience to respond in a wildly enthusiastic fashion as he brings back the romance, flair, subtlety, and the longing of the music that played through a smoky, satiny generation of courtship, club-going and dancing.

Charlie has an avid passion for, and a unique interpretation of recognizable renditions of popular standards from the 1950s and 1960s. He revives this music and style of a previous era in a dynamic and refreshing way. In this show, Charlie Romo Sings the Classics, and his song list often includes, “As Long As I Am Singing,” “Some Of These Days,” “Ace In The Hole,” “That’s All,” “Rags To Riches,” “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head,” “Goody Goody,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight,” “Volare,” “That’s Life,” “Let Me Try Again,” “Mack The Knife,” “The Curtain Falls,” “Lazy River,” and a Bobby Darin Medley, which included “Splish Splash,” “Beyond The Sea,” “Artificial Flowers,” and “Clementine.”
Charlie Romo’s captivating body language, radiant smile, personal warmth and pitch-perfect technical mastery reveals his fresh, new, exciting talent that profoundly engages, energizes and mesmerizes his audience at every show.

Bob & Wilson’s (Fort Lauderdale)

***** Bob & Wilson’s, 450 East Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301, (954) 937-2997.

Got something a little different and cool for you guys, Bob & Wilson’s an itsy bitsy teenie weenie “diner” located in an office building at 450 East Las- entry is through door in lobby, order-pickup at the counter, maybe 4 tables, breakfast- lunch, open Monday-Friday 6am-3pm closed Saturday & Sunday- that makes delicious reasonably priced stuff!

Like I said 2 seconds ago, itsy bitsy teenie weenie so don’t be planning no big family reunions, weddings or graduation parties to eat there.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did a recent lunch- and Bob & Wilson’s absolutely killed it!

I know that Bob & Wilson’s “door” looks just like your proctologist and/or you lawyer’s office door, but trust Jeff Eats, once inside you’ll be a happy camper- which in many cases isn’t the “outcome” on the proctologist and lawyer outing!

***** The Dandee Donut Factory, 1900 East Atlantic Avenue, Pompano Beach, Florida 33060, (954) 785-1461.

Let me start by saying that Jeff Eats LOVES-The Dandee Donut Factory-in Pompano Beach.

For the record, Jeff Eats originally told you guys about Dandee on 11/19/11-but some stories warrant “re-telling”…

Just so we are straight, there are two other Dandee Donut outposts in South Florida-Deerfield Beach and Hollywood…Pompano Beach and Hollywood are owned by the same guy, while the Deerfield Beach store has a totally different-unrelated owner.

For the purposes of today’s story…I’m only talking about the Pompano Beach joint…which is open 24/7-which has indoor table/counter–outdoor patio seating…which makes amazing donuts and serves-up delicious “diner” food. If you are wondering why Jeff Eats is “featuring” Pompano Beach–it’s because this is the joint that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have been frequenting -to the tune of something like twice a month for years. While I’m busy telling you my life story- Hollywood’s donuts/food are as good as Pompano’s…Deerfield Beach’s donuts are OK-but not great (Remember! I told you -this joint has a different owner not to mention a different baker)-but its diner food is decent enough.

At this stage of the game I’m gonna let you check dandeedonuts.com for menu/prices/other info.

If you got the time, you can “read” (or re-read, whatever the case may be) Jeff Eats’- The Dandee Donut Factory write -up (11/19/11).

I’m gonna close this story out by telling you, that if you want- terrific donuts, delicious diner food, fabulous pleasant service, perfect diner-decor (whatever that is!)…then you gotta get yourself over to The Dandee Donut Factory in Pompano Beach.

Oh! One other thing…

In surfing the net, Jeff Eats caught on TripAdvisor what I think is one of the greatest food reviews of all-time…

“Fantastic donuts!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2014 NEW
We rolled into Dandees about 1:00 AM at the end of August. Despite Pompano Beach being almost completely shuttered, Dandees was bustling. The donuts are far superior to Dunkin and the atmosphere was worth the trip. I believe my son met his future ex wife there!!

If like me- you’re into the “mom & pop” diner concept, Jeff Eats can’t see you not loving this joint’s food, service, retro 50’s decor and vibe, reasonable prices, big portions!

***** City Diner, 3400 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, (561) 659-6776.

If- like me, you are a sucker for the faux-1950’s diner concept—you will absolutely love City Diner in West Palm Beach. It’s got it all… vinyl/formica booths, black & white checkerboard tile, vinyl covered stools, counter seating, old tvs with black & white shows, jukebox, oldies music, old signs, assorted old-“crap” (in the nice sense) on the walls and hanging from the ceiling— breakfast stuff, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, malts/milkshakes/sundaes. Unlike Johnnie Rocket type “chains”- City Diner is a “mom & pop” deal, so for good or bad, every decoration is a one-off…

Just so we are on the same page, nothing fancy going on here. City Diner serves really solid basic “diner” food.

A recent outing had me doing… bacon cheeseburger, french fries, onion rings, meatloaf, philly cheesesteak sub, chicken pot pie, chocolate milkshake. Like I said before, I’m a sucker for joints like this…they sort of take me back to a “simpler” time, when I didn’t have to wakeup worrying about Greece’s economy—back then, I really had no fears- because I knew that P.S. 179’s wooden desks would shield me from a Russian nuclear attack. Anyway…everything I ate was right on the money. A special shoutout to the chicken pot pie, one of the best I’ve had in a very long time.

Let me sum City Diner up this way…I loved it. I knew it wasn’t really 1957, but the food/decor/vibe made me recall my dad’s 1956 Olds 88 and an easier-way of living.

City Diner is open Sunday-Monday 8am-3pm, Tuesday-Saturday 8am-8:30pm.
