Real simple concept at work here, freshly baked “vanilla cake” donuts with your pick of toppings, handful of “vanilla cake” donut sandwiches, handful of “vanilla cake” donut sundaes- order/pickup at counter, watch your donuts get made, 3 indoor tables/2 outside tables. Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, until yesterday- when Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats stopped in the Duck Donuts in Kissimmee, neither one of us had ever heard of the joint-before! Like I said 2 seconds ago, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats found Duck Donuts, yesterday! Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats each “designed” 12 donuts- and the 2- $15.50 per dozen boxes (donuts bought individually- $1.40) had 24 winners in them! Just so you know, the donuts were the same size as your “standard” Dunkin’ Donut- and if you’re into “vanilla cake” donuts- the bet here is that you’re really gonna enjoy Duck Donuts! If you like cheeseburgers (and who doesn’t), I got a little-hole-in-the wall joint that you “don’t want to miss.” Before I go any further, I think that calling a “hole-in-the-wall” little, is an oxymoron, but anyway…

Cheeseburger Baby has counter seating and a few-high-tops and that’s it. This joint makes some of the best burgers that you will ever taste. The “stars” of the menu are the 1/2lb burger ($5.50), the 1/2lb cheeseburger ($6.50), the 2.5oz burger ($2.00) and the 2.5oz cheeseburger ($2.50) which are superbly grilled and then “placed” in an egg-bun. I am not talking good “here.” I am talking “terrific.”

Cheeseburger Baby has other “stuff” on its menu, like wings and chicken breast sandwiches. That said, when a joint is called CHEESEBURGER BABY, you should be smart enough to know what to order.

Cheeseburger Baby is open Monday-Wednesday noon-4am, Thursday-Saturday 11am-6am and Sunday 11am-4pm. The way to “play” this one, is to order a 1/2lb bacon-cheeseburger with grilled onions, a side of french fries ($3.00) and a Coke and you will be in 7th-heaven (well, I was anyway).

This joint’s “odd-hours” in the past, have drawn such “notables” as, P. Diddy, Fat Joe, Beyonce and JeffEats.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday.

Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and a bunch of friends are going to watch the game at our friends’-Bob & Linda’s house in Hallandale Beach. Chinese food from Wonton Garden Chinese Restaurant in Hallandale!

For you guys who maybe wondering, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats will be rooting for anyone but the Patriots!

Got a real good Chinese joint for you guys, Wonton Garden in Hallandale. Just so you know the lay of the land, Wonton Garden is basically a ‘take-out” joint- but if you want to eat there, it’s got a 1/2 dozen or so tables.

Long story short, last night Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “had” Wonton Garden’s food over at our friends’ Linda & Bob’s house in Hallandale Beach. Bob paid the bill and Jeff Eats only involvement with the- meal (other than eating the food) was that I accompanied Bob when he drove over to Wonton Garden to pickup the takeout order!

Bob & Linda ordered- wonton soup, egg drop soup, egg rolls, bbq spareribs, pan fried dumplings, sweet & sour chicken, pepper steak, honey chicken wings, ham fried rice, shrimp with Chinese vegetables, pork lo mein and I gotta tell you- the stuff was real good. Now, for sure- some dishes were stronger than others, like the egg rolls, honey garlic chicken wings and bbq spareribs absolutely killed, while the pepper steak to Jeff Eats’ refined palate was a drop on the bland side. All in all, Wonton Garden scored quite well on Jeff Eats’ Brooklyn Jewish American Chinese Taste Test circa 1957!

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, I’ve eaten in/taken out from my fair share of South Florida Chinese joints. After awhile they all kinda run-into each other, if you know what I mean? With that in mind, if Wonton Garden was by-my Boca Raton house- I’m thinking that I would definitely be a pretty steady customer.

To wrap this one up…

You guys do know that food “reviewing” is purely a subjective situation, with that in mind- like I said a few seconds ago the egg rolls, bbq spareribs and the honey garlic chicken wings killed- and between you guys and Jeff Eats, rank right up there with the best that Jeff Eats has had in a very long time…so if you do get to Wonton Garden “see” if I made a good call on those 3-items!

Wonton Garden Chinese Restaurant is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10:30pm, Sunday noon-10pm.

Trust me on this one, you guys gotta see Freddy Rubino’s stand-up act! Rubino is absolutely terrific! By the way, the Boca Black Box a couple of days ago announced that legendary Comedian Jackie Mason’s Daughter, Sheba Mason who’s a very funny lady- will open for Rubino- and a “spend a minimum of $20 and get a free ticket” promotion- so if you’re gonna go- check with the Boca Black Box – Box Office (561) 473-9036 and see how-that promotion works!

The Boca Black Box just announced that national touring headliner comedian Freddy Rubino is in for 1-show on Saturday, 2/3/18 (8pm)!

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that the “very light blue” Rubino is one one of the funniest stand-up acts currently working America’s comedy club/casino/event circuit!

I am telling you guys- that Rubino will crack you up all night!

Freddy Rubino was born on the lower east side of Manhattan in New York City and then moved to Brooklyn. It is here where Fred developed, at an early age, the basis for his comedy material and the humor and hilarity of growing up Italian and in Brooklyn! In 2005 Fred became a published author with the release of his conspiracy driven book Nazi Princess: The Final Deception which actually isn’t funny at all!!! Three years later, Fred turned his interest to writing and performing stand-up comedy.
