Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market (Boynton Beach)

Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market, 10066 Lee Road, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473, (561) 733-5490.

Let me start by saying that although Bedner’s has been around since 1960-and the Jeff Eats Family has lived in South Florida since 1991…Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have only “been” to Bedner’s twice-April 5, 2014 and today, August 30, 2014…

Here’s the skinny, as far as a being a year-round-green market, this joint stinks.

No fooling here- for Mrs. Jeff Eats on TWO OUTINGS to have found not one fruit, vegetable, baked item to buy says-something. Trust me, the lady is the consummate shopper and for her to tell me that Publix has better quality/less expensive/better selection “stuff” tells this boy all he needs to know!

Just for the record, on Saturday and Sunday- food truck Porky and Beth’s BBQ
(reviewed 4/5/14) is on Bedner’s premises- that’s why we were at Bedner’s today-picking up dinner.

Look! I know -the joint has been around for 54 years…all I can tell you is “what” I think and I think that if you want top notch fruits, vegetables, baked goods, juices- this ain’t the place to get them! You wanna pick strawberries or do a hayride with the kids-I get it!- but as for “table” food, nope!

Now you know and I know that Jeff Eats is just “my” opinion- so if you care to look into Bedner’s further…bedners.com.

Time To Eat Diner (Tequesta)

***** Time To Eat Diner, 716 US Highway 1 North, Tequesta, Florida 33469, (561) 747-4263.

The only difference between Tequesta’s -Time To Eat Diner and the New York/New Jersey diners that many of us grew up-on…is that Time To Eat is open Monday-Saturday 7am-10pm and Sunday 7am-9:30pm and the New York/New Jersey joints were/are open 7 days a week 24 hours a day.

image

With the above in mind, let me tell you that Jeff Eats absolutely loved Time To Eat Diner…if we forget its business hours…THIS IS A REAL DINER!!! Perfect-diner food, diner decor, diner service, diner prices.

image

Rather than Jeff Eats telling you about Time To Eat Diner’s’ in house baked pies/cakes, all day breakfast, Greek dinner specials, chunky chicken salad on toasted rye-go check timetoeatflorida.com and take a gander at its menu…it sure looks like A REAL DINER MENU to me.

Time To Eat Diner is the real deal.

Like I said 5 seconds ago, Jeff Eats loved this joint.

Andrew Dice Clay Tickets

Posted on August 30th, 2014 · Music/Events/Other · 6 Comments »

* Andrew Dice Clay Tickets.

Jeff Eats was looking to catch some Dice tickets…

Look at the warning attached to the tickets.

Like-I don’t know what the guy’s act is all about.

I say there is way too much consumer protectionism in this country-today,

If you think Jeff Eats is off base here…the next time a drug commercial comes on your tv, listen to the announcer’s warning about possible side effects…the freaking warnings literally take up more air-time than the info-about the product does. Just think, a guy looking for a 4-hour erection faces possible blindness, death, brain damage, kidney failure etc. for “some” fun!

Finally, this morning I read that a class action lawsuit was commenced against Whole Foods Market claiming that its Greek Yogurt brand label -listed a sugar content something like 6/times lower than what the product actually contained. Nothing for nothing, if the “Church/Temple/Mosque” of many “healthy eaters” out there ain’t telling the truth- does any of this so-called consumer protectionism really amount to a hill of beans -anyway?

AND while I’m ranting, do you actually believe that you need all of those tests your doctor orders up for you? Betcha a buck, a good number of those tests are just “running up the tab” and others are run to “protect” the doctor just in case you decide to sue his or her ass off-one day.

Any way back to Andrew Dice Clay tickets,

Too much info out there…

Showtime’s Best of South Florida 2014!

* Showtime’s Best of South Florida 2014!

Just got this email from reader KSR…

Jeff,
Did you see today’s Sun Sentinel?
Its Showtime Magazine has a ‘Best of South Florida 2014′ story that has listings for things such as Best Cocktails, Best Coffee Shop, Best Seafood, Best Pizzeria, Best Burgers, Best Desserts, Best Brewpub.
What do you think of the list and its winners?
*****
KSR:

Just finished reading Showtime’s “Best of South Florida 2014” article…

As a steady Jeff Eats’ reader you know that I kinda think that BEST LISTS are silly. You know and I know, that “taste” is a totally subjective thing, so what I like you may hate and vice versa.

Back- to Showtime’s “list”…I will tell you, that here and there Showtime has some pretty strong-picks…but then again, here and there it’s so far off the mark, that it’s laughable. Like I said, “taste” is subjective!

Finally, Jeff Eats can’t tell you if Showtime got it right or wrong or even close on categories such as “Best Gay Bar”-“Best Drag Bar”-Best Gay Event”-“Worst Bathrooms”-nothing personal or anything-but the first 3-listed categories are out of my bailiwick and as for the 4th-when I gotta go, I gotta go!

Thanks for reading…

Judy Tenuta (Mardi Gras Casino-Hallandale Beach)

* Judy Tenuta.

Can you keep a secret? Jeff Eats has been Judy Tenuta’s “sex slave” since 1987.

The legendary comedian is set for 2-shows at the Mardi Gras Casino Friday, October 24/8pm & Saturday, October 25/8pm. Tickets are 20 bucks and can be purchased online at mardigrascasinofl.com. Just between you and me, Gold Star Events (goldstar.com which was reviewed on 8/26/14) has some $7.50 tickets in its inventory-so if you really want to go…

Printed below is Judy’s “background” info-from the Mardi Gras website.

Jeff Eats is a huge fan-looking forward to seeing her -October 25th.

*****
Judy Tenuta is the most famous person who has ever lived…and if you don’t believe it, just ask her. Judy is a triple threat in the sense that she has strong stage, television, comedy and film credits with a large fan base. She has appeared in” The Vagina Monologues”, “Menopause the Musical” both in LA and Chicago, and she’s had her own stand-up specials on Showtime, HBO and Lifetime. Judy was the first female stand-up comic to win “Best Female Comedian” at the American Comedy Awards and is a two-time Grammy nominee for her comedy CD’S, “Attention Butt-Pirates” and “Lesbetarians!” and “In Goddess We Trust”. That same year, she became the national spokesperson for a series of Diet Dr. Pepper commercials. The self-described “Love Goddess” and “Aphrodite of the Accordion” has made hundreds of guest and co-hosting appearances on such popular TV shows as “The View”, “Late Night with David Letterman”, “Larry King Live”, “Entertainment Tonight”, and “Comics Unleashed”. Judy’s stand-up routine is appropriately described as outrageous, mind-blowing comedy. She recently became an ordained minister, and converts her audiences to her signature religion, “Judyism”. A strong advocate for gays, children and women’s issues, the fun-loving feminist preaches that all women should be worshipped as “Love Goddesses!” Some of Judy’s roles include: an ex-show girl turned wedding chaplain on General Hospital, a snobby judge on “Corey in the House” and a featured role in the teen comedy hit, “Material Girls”, starring Hillary and Haley Duff and directed by Martha Coolidge. Judy also produced and starred in her own film, “Desperation Boulevard” about a former child star who stops at nothing to make a comeback. Judy costars with Bruce Villanch in the Indie film, “Sister Mary”…. so watch out, Meryl Streep!

Judy just completed 2 Independent flims: Judy plays Zania, a menacing, aging actress in the recently screened independent film, “Going Down in LALA Land”. Judy just completed the role of an overly zealous, in your face Mother of the star high school pitcher, in the soon to be released, independent film “Gibsonberg”, based on a true story.

John Offerdahl’s Broward Health Gridiron Grill-Off Food, Wine & Tailgate Festival (November 8th-Pompano Beach)

image

* John Offerdahl’s Broward Health Gridiron Grill-Off Food & Tailgate Festival.

Just a quick observation,

The older Jeff Eats gets, the more-I become just like my Great Uncle Sammy Ginsberg (on my mother’s side)–for some reason, I find myself REPEATING-and- REPEATING and REPEATING things.

With that in mind, back on June 4, 2014 I told you guys about- Gridiron Grill-Off set for November 8, 2014…rather than repeating what I told you back on June 4, 2014- all I can tell you is that this charity event is going to be off-the shelf! Celebrities, Sports Stars, Great Food, Great Music, Great Drink–all I can tell you is that this charity event is going to be off- the shelf!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats will be there, will be there, will be there-and you should be there too, and you should be there too!-I know, enough already with the repeating bit! ok-ok-ok.

Finally, you can buy tickets/other info at gridirongriller.com.

You can read the details below.

If you are/were a Dolphin’s fan and have 85 bucks to spend–you would be “silly” not to go this 1pm-4pm outdoor PARTY!

Jeff Eats has been to past John Offerdahl’s Gridiron Grillers and the food, drink, entertainment–were as good as it gets!

How Come No Starbucks In Israel?

Posted on August 27th, 2014 · American Breakfast Desserts Fast Food · 22 Comments »

image

* How Come No Starbucks In Israel?

Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwatt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emigrates- they all got Starbucks stores…

How come there are no Starbucks in Israel?

Jeff Eats thinks…

Starbucks is scared sh@tless of an Arab Boycott of its Mideast stores.

Just so we are straight, Starbucks had 7-stores in Israel but closed them in 2003. The Company’s position on those closings was- that it was purely a business decision based on its inability to successfully work with its Israeli based business partner. My “call” is just my opinion, but my business contacts in Israel told me that back in 2003 Starbucks conveniently found a way to exit the market. These same sources said to check the “people” who own the Arab operation. The sources said that the Arab-operator is super powerful/connected and Starbucks just played it safe by abandoning the Israeli market.

Like I said 2 seconds ago, Jeff Eats doesn’t “buy” Starbucks’ reason…

Anyone care to discuss?
