Thought I would share this email received from reader Jack Cohen.

Jeff Eats is “working” on a tie-in “with” food…in the meantime, enjoy!

One final thought, if “you” just happen to be offended by this email- tough noogies!

I just love school photographs.

It must be wonderful to look back in years to come and recognize all your old classmates
and the memories of all the fun times you had together.

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Matteo’s broiled pork chop “covered” with grilled onions/mushrooms/cherry peppers is absolutely off the chart. The chop is HUGE and every time I’ve had it, it was a challenge to finish the whole thing. I’m telling you, this chop is something very-very special.

Just so we are straight with each other, Matteo’s is one of the best Italian joints in South Florida. Jeff Eats has literally eaten there countless- times and the food and service are always top-shelf.

Matteo’s is an absolute must try!

First Trimester!

* First Trimester!

Now I know- that it maybe a bit early for some of you “snowbirds” to be thinking about your upcoming trip-to Florida…but before you blink your eye, that trailer truck will be picking-up your car.

With that in mind, Jeff Eats “cooked up” (pun intended) a list of joints that you “should” checkout when you are down here. There are no rankings, there are no best this or that, just a good “handful” of restaurants that I think you will really enjoy. Name/Type/City-County are listed, you’ll have to look up full reviews/locations on Jeff Eats.

For you newcomers-to Jeff Eats…the site has a ton of joints for you to look-at…the ones listed today are right off the top of my head (this morning)…so cruise around jeffeats.com to get a feel for-where-my-head is and for other ideas/picks.

Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant (Wellington)

imageimage

***** Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant, 801 North Congress Avenue, Wellington, Florida 33426, (561) 737-2393.

Buca di Beppo is a national Southern Italian restaurant chain…for our purposes, joints in Boynton Beach, Brandon, Coral Springs, Davie, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Maitland, Naples, Orlando, Tallahassee, Wellington. You can check menu/prices/locations/info at bucadibeppo.com.

Last night Jeff Eats ate dinner at the Buca di Beppo in Wellington. Just so you know, Wellington wasn’t my “maiden Buca di Beppo voyage”–first time for Wellington, but over the past 16 years Jeff Eats has eaten in a number of Buca’s joints-here in Florida and elsewhere. Can’t really explain, why Buca di Beppo hadn’t garnered a Jeff Eats’ critique-prior to-today. If I figure it out, I’ll let you guys know.

Right about now some of you guys are throwing a hissy fit–Hey Jeff, it’s a chain, why would you eat there? What’s wrong with you? Did you lose your mind?

First things first.

For you guys who don’t “know” Buca di Beppo…locations are decorated literally with hundreds of pictures. The portions are either family style or individual size. Full bar -area.

Now onto the meal…just so you know, there were eight- in the Jeff Eats’ party-fried calamari, chopped antipasto salad, chicken parmigiana, veal marsala, penne alla vodka, ravioli with meat sauce, lasagna, baked rigatoni, tiramisu, cheesecake.

Now you do what you want with this. The food was delicious, the service was solid-friendly and all 8-of us really-really enjoyed ourselves.

Nothing for nothing, I know that there are a bunch of you-out there-who really “believe” that chain food can’t be any good. Well I got news for you, from this boy’s perch, Buca di Beppo proves your theory DEAD WRONG! No fooling here- I found the food as good if not better than most of the “mom & pop” Florida red sauce joints that have run my American Express card. For sure, there are loads of “mom & pops” that would wipe the floor with Buca di Beppo but trust me, most of them aren’t as good. On the price front, Buca di Beppo is in the same league as the “mom & poppers” -same goes for portion size and service.

A few seconds ago I gave you Buca’s website. When you check the site you’ll find a current “deal” called-“Feed four for $40.”–if you are going to try Buca, be smart and print out that coupon. One other thing, this morning Jeff Eats got an email from local.amazon.com offering a coupon for $10 off your next $20 purchase at Buca di Beppo- you may also want to print out that coupon. The way I see “coupons”- better your pocket than their pocket!

Buca di Beppo is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 11am-9pm.

***** Delaware Chicken Farm & Seafood Market, 4191 North State Road 7, Hollywood, Florida 33021, (954) 983-6831.

Real simple…Delaware Chicken Farm & Seafood Market is a terrific retail poultry/seafood/meat market that sells top-shelf stuff at very reasonable prices. The joint has been around since 1951-and also-makes delicious prepared foods and sandwiches.

There really isn’t too much more that Jeff Eats can tell you about Delaware Chicken Farm & Seafood Market-other than the Jeff Eats Family has enjoyed its food for the past 22 years at numerous barbecues and parties at our Boca Raton home.

Look! There is no way that “you” stay in business-63 years selling garbage!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one…top stuff all the way around!

Delaware Chicken Farm & Seafood Market is open Monday-Thursday 8:30am-6pm, Friday 8:30am 6:30pm, Saturday 7:30am-6pm, Sunday 9:30am-4pm.

Why Would Anyone Pay To See This Guy?

Posted on August 21st, 2014 · Deals Music/Events/Other · 18 Comments »

* Why Would Anyone Pay To See This Guy?

Jeff Eats has been an attorney since 1973. Guys like Jordan Belfort break the law, get caught and then rat their buddies out to get reduced prison sentences. Guaranteed, if you were a cop, or a soldier, or a marine, or a sailor, or in the air force, or a fireman, or a rescue worker-you wouldn’t want to be partnered with a guy like Jordan Belfort -because when push comes to shove- he’d never have your back! Remember, a leopard can’t change its spots!

I ask you again- Why would Anyone Pay To See This Guy?

Anyway…

If you want to “see” Jordan Belfort- living social.com is running the “below” deal.

HipPOPs Dessert Truck (Dade, Broward, Palm Beach-Counties)

***** HipPOPs Dessert Truck.

Way back on August 15, 2014 Jeff Eats briefly mentioned HipPOPS Dessert Truck. That “brief” story is reprinted below.

Like Jimmy Olsen, I stayed on the beat and late yesterday “tried” HipPOPS out. Sampled pops included-cappuccino gelato/milk chocolate/crushed pretzels ($5), vanilla bean gelato/dark chocolate/crushed pistachios ($5) and lemon sorbet/white chocolate/chocolate sprinkles ($4.50) and I gotta tell you, these customized “pops” were amazing.

Real simple concept…you pick your gelato/sorbet/yogurt flavor (20 different flavors), then coat the pop with either milk/dark/white chocolate and then top the pop with 1-10 items like crushed pecans, rainbow sprinkles, crushed almonds.

HipPOPs Dessert Truck services Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The company also caters private/corporate events.

Like I said 3 seconds ago, the pops were amazing!

Checkout hippos.com for menu/prices/other info.

* HipPOPs Dessert Truck.

Just a heads-up…Jeff Eats is hearing that HipPOPs hand-makes amazingly delicious gelato, sorbet and yogurt pops.

Jeff Eats is planning on “trying” HipPOPs later this month-and I’ll give you the skinny after i’ve completed my mission.

In the mean-time, you can do your own reconnaissance. HipPOPs Dessert Truck “covers” Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

You can check the truck’s schedule at hippos.com.
