AT&T & COMCAST

* AT&T & COMCAST.

These have to be two of the worse companies in America to do business with.

I have found a “real solution” on how to handle these folks…

When I get overbilled which literally happens EVERY MONTH-or have some other problem, in addition to calling the Company direct…I immediately file a complaint online with the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (fcc.gov)- you will be amazed-at how fast AT&T and COMCAST call you to straighten out the problem.

This past Sunday, Jeff Eats filed over-billing complaints against both companies. Comcast contacted me Monday- morning, corrected the billing error and gave me a $30 credit on my account for the next 12 months. AT&T had two people call me Tuesday morning, one did nothing and said that she would get back to me, while the second person, corrected the over-billing error and gave me a $40 credit towards next month’s bill.

I’m telling you, don’t be intimidated by these companies. Get what you are entitled to. Just file with the FCC and you’ll have the United States Government finally doing something that actually helps you out!

Meet The WannaBeatles!
The WannaBeatles offer a fun-filled, family friendly extravaganza that goes “where no Beatles Band has gone before.” Of course, you’ll hear your Beatles favorites, but there’s much more! Their hilarious parodies, on stage antics, and audience involvement combined with ground breaking visual effects that make The WannaBeatles show a “must see.” Whether with a symphony orchestra or as a stand-alone performance like the original “Fab Four,” The WannaBeatles love what they do and it shows!

Vinnie’s Lobster Bar (Davie)

***** Vinnie’s Lobster Bar, 5810 South University Drive, Davie, Florida 33328, (954) 680-3323.

Got a real good- Seafood/Italian/American joint for you guys…Vinnie’s Lobster Bar in Davie.

If you aren’t a seafood “player”…don’t be a-scared by Vinnie’s Lobster Bar’s name–for sure its got plenty of seafood stuff, but the joint has more Italian dishes-than what most Italian restauarnts serve up.

Down below, Jeff Eats has “reprinted” Vinnie’s menu…small joint with inside and outside seating, full bar area…trust Jeff Eats, it looks kinda fancy, but looks are often deceiving-for crying out loud, the freaking joint is in a Target Shopping Center! Nothing for nothing, growing up in Brooklyn in the 50’s-70’s I was literally raised on joints that looked/tasted just like Vinnie’s Lobster Bar…trust me there is a certain “hey I’m from da-neighborhood” vibe that makes these kinda joints real special! Of course back in Brooklyn, we didn’t “do” outside-seating except in late Spring, Summer and early Fall. By the way, if you aren’t following Jeff Eats’ thought process on the neighborhood “vibe” thing, I just guess, maybe you-had-to-have-lived-it…to get it! But trust me, you-New Yorkers-will sense it right away!

Like I said a few seconds ago, the joint is real good…

The other night Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “did”…clams oreganato, garden house salad, lobster bisque, stuffed lobster tail with shrimp and scallops, chicken parmigiana- and everything was right on the money.

Jeff Eats highly recommends that you give Vinnie’s Lobster Bar a shot…I think that you will really enjoy it!

The joint is open Monday-Saturday 11:30am-11pm, Sunday 3pm-11pm.

***** East End Café, Kings Point-7000 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida 33446, (561) 381-2028.

Got something real good for your guys…East End Café- small breakfast/lunch diner located on the east-side of Kings Point’s Main Clubhouse.

Just so you know, all though Kings Point’s “entrance” has a manned- gatehouse (God forbid Islamic- terrorists ever show-up, those terrorists won’t know what hit them!) East End Cafe is open to the public- all you have to tell “the guards” is- that you are going to the East End Café and they will wave-you right through the gate…you don’t have to give your name, you don’t have to show a license or a phone bill, you don’t gotta do nothing!

Real simple, East End Café has a cool look- like something out of Brooklyn- circa 1960s-1970s…counter seating, tables, booths, outdoor tables.

The joint does breakfast-lunch…Monday-Friday 7:30am-3pm, Saturday-Sunday 8am-3pm.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently did both a breakfast and lunch…western omelette, challah French toast, hamburger/French fries, chopped liver/lettuce/tomato/onion, reuben-corned beef- and I gotta tell you, the food was delicious and the prices just right.

Printed down below, are East End Cafe’s breakfast-lunch menus.

Kings Point’s residents got a home-run joint…not many- “outsiders” know about East End Café- try it you’ll love it!

from sunrisetheatre.com
Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band of 25 years Steve Lukather, Richard Page, Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren, Gregg Bissonette and Warren Ham take the Sunrise Theatre stage for one night that you don’t want to miss!

Since beginning his career with The Beatles in the 1960s, Ringo has been one of the world’s brightest musical luminaries. He has enjoyed a successful, dynamic solo career as a singer, songwriter, drummer, collaborator, and actor. Drawing inspiration from classic blues, soul, country, honky-tonk and rock ‘n’ roll, he continues to play an important recording, touring, and unofficial mentoring role in modern music.

Ringo’s music has always emanated from his warmth, humor, and exceptional skill, manifesting in the songs we know and love: With A Little Help From My Friends, Don’t Pass Me By, Octopus’ Garden Photograph, It Don’t Come Easy, Back Off Boogaloo, You’re Sixteen (You’re Beautiful and You’re Mine).

Peace and love are his life’s rhythm and melody, and he propels this universal message in everything he does: his evocative artwork, his enthused live performances, his legendary songs, all imbued with the joy, reflection, and wisdom of the music icon the world knows and loves simply as ‘Ringo.’

“Ultimately what’s most impressive about Ringo Starr isn’t what he’s been, but rather who he is.”

The Tipsy Boar (Hollywood)

***** The Tipsy Boar, 1906 Harrison Street, Hollywood, Florida 33020 (954) 920-2627.

When Jeff Eats first heard about The Tipsy Boar- I immediately thought about my old college buddy, Bobby K. Skelton…Bobby K. passed a few years ago- so no insult intended to his widow, but let me tell you, back in 1966-1970…booooring-when he was even slightly loaded!

Anyway,

There is an old Vietnamese saying that goes something like this…”One picture is worth a thousand words.” With that in mind, this Tipsy Boar joint (see pictures down below) is terrific. Speaking of my college days… If Ithaca, New York- back in the late 60’s had anything like The Tipsy Boar- Jeff Eats would still be an IC (Ithaca College) student. Today, joints like The Tipsy Boar-call themselves gastropubs…to me, the Tipsys of the world- will always be sports bars- with tons of beers/wines/hard booze/tvs and in Tipsy’s case- dynamite food.

tipsy2tipsy5

You guys really- gotta try The Tipsy Boar…cheeseburger sliders, pizza, duck wings, French fries, pulled pork, blackened mahi mahi- it was all good!

The Tipsy Boar is open 7 days a week noon-2am.

6th Annual Burgie Awards (Milander Park-Hialeah) or Little Anthony & The Imperials (FAU- Boca Raton)?

* 6th Annual Burgie Awards (Milander Park- Hialeah) or Little Anthony & The Imperials (FAU- Boca Raton)?

Right now Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are “up in the air”- do we do the 6th Annual Burgie Awards in Hialeah, or do we do Little Anthony & The Imperials in Boca Raton?

Now, nothing for nothing, if Burger Beast (burgerbeast.com) had “selected” Jeff Eats and not food-blog Burger by the Beach’s (burgersbythebeach.com) Jamie Frankel to be the Burgie’s host- we wouldn’t be talking about this- am I right or am I right?

Two fun events, for you guys to consider!

Recent e-mail from reader Melissa G.

Jeff Eats,

My father and mother who live in Coral Springs are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary on February 23, 2015.

My husband and I live in Miami and we are planning on taking them out for a great dinner.

We want to stay close to their home and any type of cuisine will work.

If this makes sense to you, we are looking for not too fancy, not too expensive but something really nice.

Your thoughts.

Thanks in advance,

Melissa G

Melissa G:

Got the perfect place for you guys…Tavolino Della Nonna.

Reprinted down below is Jeff Eats’ “take” on the joint.

***** Tavolino Della Nonna, 10181 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida 33065, (954) 509-0046.

Back on July 18, 2009 I told you guys about a terrific “semi-upscale” Italian joint Tavolino Della Nonna in Coral Springs. The original writeup is reprinted below.

Since that “story” appeared some- 4 years ago–Jeff Eats has eaten in Tavolino something like 4-5 times. In all honesty, until last Friday night, the last visit was probably well over a year ago.

Anyway- to make a long story short, last Friday night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate at Tavolino. The food was as good as the “first” outing and the owners and staff just as engaging and competent. The “update” here is–that Tavolino’s owners recently spent some-big bucks expanding the joint having added an entire “wing” dedicated to entertainment. The night Jeff Eats was there, a jazz group was entertaining a huge crowd.

Let me end this thing by saying, I highly recommend that you guys try this joint. It really has everything going for it…delicious food, terrific service, very reasonable prices–and now, a “night-club” atmosphere for those of you looking for something that you normally don’t find in an Italian joint in the heart of Coral Springs.

***** Tavolino Della Nonna, 10181 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida 33065, (954) 509-0046.

Last night I ate in Tavolino Della Nonna…a terrific white tablecloth Italian joint located in Coral Springs. Just so you know…A couple of you guys wrote to me and told me that I had to try this joint…so, old Jeff gave Tavolino a shot.

Anyway…Tavolino has been in business for something like 2-years. For you GPS types out there, it is located on Sample Road, within short walking distance of both Pizza Time and DeSalvo’s the well known “red sauce” joints. Tavolino is-not a pizza joint…it’s a semi-upscale restaurant with both indoor and outdoor patio seating…but don’t worry your tee shirt-shorts ensemble will work. At this juncture take a look at Tavolina’s website www.tavolinorestaurant.com for menu/prices/photos.

Like I said before, semi-upscale, but the guys running this joint make you feel like an old friend…when you eat there, you’ll see what I am talking about. The owners–shall we say, are very visible and make sure that everything is running just right. Last night, I watched as they made the rounds to each and every table, kibbitizing (in an Italian restaurant?) and making people “try” this and “that”…

Before I talk food, let me tell you about a cute “idea” that the joint has decor-wise…one little side room, is decorated Ralph & Alice Kramden, 328 Chauncey Street…there is a formica table circa 1955 that seats 6-maybe-8…so if this type of thing floats your boat, call ahead and reserve that “table.”

Onto the food…last night I “tried”– meatball appetizer ($11), tortellini appetizer ($13), veal parmigiana ($23), chicken scarpariello (on bone) ($21), snapper almondine ($23), grilled chicken/pasta ($17)…the food is absolutely delicious.

Just so you know…Tavolino isn’t a $13.95-$16.95 soup or salad-entree-pasta side-garlic rolls joint…there is no pizza, subs, calzones or stromboli. Figure on spending–something like 40-50 bucks a head for a great meal. Trust me on this one, the food runs absolute circles around most of the Italian joints down here. I know that the ala carte menu may “scare” some of you guys…the house salad is big enough to feed two as are the side pasta dishes, so if you order the “right way” you won’t have to get a second-job to pay the tab. Our waitress was super-helpful on “picks” etc…last night, they had a “strolling” magician who worked all the tables…how he changed those $1 bills into $100 bills is beyond me.

Since I am on the Hollywood Cookie Diet, I passed on dessert. I will tell you, that the dessert tray looked absolutely incredible and that everything including the joint’s bread are made in house.

You guys know that I eat in Italian joints all the time…I am telling you, that Tavolino is one of the better restaurants in South Florida. You definitely want to try this one.

Tavolino is open Tuesday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday 11am-11pm, Saturday 4pm-11pm and Sunday 4pm-10pm, the joint is closed on Monday.
