Lisa Lampanelli (Hard Rock Live- Hollywood)

Posted on January 14th, 2015 · Hollywood Music/Events/Other · 3 Comments »

* Lisa Lampanelli.

If you’re a Jeff Eats’ “regular”- you know that Lisa Lampanelli is scheduled to perform at the Palm Beach IMPROV in West Palm Beach on January 15-18, 2015.

Just this very minute…Jeff Eats received this INTERNET PRE-SALE for Lisa Lampanelli at the Hard Rock Live on June 5, 2015.

Personally, Jeff Eats would rather see- Lisa Lampanelli in a “small” venue like the IMPROV- than in an arena setting like-Hard Rock Live…

In any event…

Go see her, she puts on a terrific show!

Bagel Works Restaurant & Deli (Boca Raton)

***** Bagel Works Restaurant & Deli.

Recent e-mail from reader Marlene J.
Jeff,
Not to put you on the spot, but what’s the best bagel joint in Boca?
I’ve eaten in loads of them and just curious where your head is on this one.
Thanks

Marlene J:

If we are talking the sum of all-of-the parts-you may want to checkout Bagel Works.

Posted below is Jeff Eats’ 12/11/06 “review”…by the way, the joint “now” has bacon.

Just between you and me, there are some Boca Raton joints-with better pumpernickel bagels, better everything bagels, better bialys, better egg salad, so on and so forth…but, if we are talking “over-all” bagel joints, Bagel Works is right up there with the best of breed. For what it’s worth, over the years-Jeff Eats has eaten at/taken out from Bagel Works numerous times and I can’t remember a single bad outing. One other thing, for what it’s worth- I’ve never heard anything but rave reviews about Bagel Works’ tuna fish salad.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for reading…

If you want bacon with your eggs, or bacon with your cheeseburger, or a BLT, then you “can’t” eat at Bagel Works. Bagel Works is a bagel-joint. Bagel Works is not a kosher-bagel-joint. I will leave it to you, to ask the owner or the “powers that be” when you are there, as to why: Bacon is not served? By the way, I know Bagel Work’s reason, but I ain’t telling.

Bagel Works has been serving some of the best New York Style Deli “stuff” in South Florida for over 15 years. This joint is open 7 days a week for breakfast & lunch, 6:30am-4pm. Bagel Works’ eat-at-counter and tables are always jammed and its take-out /appetizing counter always has a line.

Try this joint, it is a winner. By the way, don’t forget to ask about the “bacon.”

REGULAR!

The other day Jeff Eats was doing some “research” on coffee…and low and behold look what my IT skills pulled-up from everydayhealth.com.

Interesting reading…but, for all these years- I thought REGULAR meant with milk!

I just hope the quoted experts-below know what they are talking about and aren’t just full of crap..,

By the way, not to talk out of school or nothing, but Jeff Eats is a ____times a week man-myself!

Better Digestive Health: The Experts Weigh In
What Is Considered “Regular”?

“Regular” is a relative term depending on the individual. For some people, bowel movements three times a day is typical, while for others it’s three times a week.

Everyday Health: What is considered “regular”?

Su Sachar, MD: “Regular” is different for different people. People often have the misconception that having one to two bowel movements a day is “normal,” but in actuality, one person’s regular may be another person’s constipation. When you’ve strayed from your pattern, and it persists, you may need to alter your diet and check with your health-care practitioner.

Lisa Ganjhu, DO: Everyone is different with regard to bowel movements. Having regular bowel movements simply means having bowel movements in regular timely intervals. Whether that is every day or every other day, once a day or twice a day — again, what is your normal? Bowel movements are irregular when they are not your normal consistency, amount, or frequency. A decrease in frequency or passing harder stools would be considered constipation. You can get back to your regular bowel movements by increasing your water intake or increasing your fiber intake. If that does not help, you should talk to your doctor.

Alison Manger-Weikel, RD, LDN: Regularity is a relative term depending on the individual. For some, it may mean a daily bowel movement, and for others it may mean every other day. For most, at least one regular bowel movement daily that is neither too loose nor too hard is considered regular. Straining or uncomfortable bowel movements may be an indication of constipation and should not occur frequently.

Sarah Mirkin, RD: Most people think of regular as one movement per day. Regularity is actually very individualized. It can be up to three times a day for some people — or every three days for others. More or less than either end of the spectrum suggests constipation or diarrhea. A change in bowel habits or bloating and discomfort is something to speak to your dietitian or doctor about.

Elisa Faybush, MD: Having regular bowel movements does not necessarily mean having one bowel movement per day. The general range is from three times a day to three times a week.

Lisa Lampanelli:
Lisa Lampanelli is Comedy’s Lovable Queen of Mean. Heralded as “more than a standup — a standout,” by comedy legend Jim Carrey, Lampanelli is a cross between Don Rickles, Archie Bunker, and a vial of estrogen. She even won accolades from The King of All Media Howard Stern, who called her “a true original and a brilliant comedy mind who’ll steal the show every time.” This equal opportunity offender is a regular on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and Howard Stern’s Sirius satellite radio shows. She recently joined the ranks of comic greats and added her first ever one-hour HBO comedy special, “Long Live the Queen,” to her resume, with a CD and DVD of the special to follow. In addition, her first book, “Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat and Freaks,” will hit bookstore shelves on September 15, 2009. Lisa’s rise to the top of the comedy food chain began in 2002 when she was the only female comedian invited to skewer Chevy Chase on the NY Friars Club Roast on Comedy Central. She soon became one of the few white comedians to perform on BET’s “Comic View,” cementing her huge crossover appeal. A year later, she rocked Comedy Central once again in her back-to-back appearances on “Premium Blend” and on the enormously rated “Roast of Jeff Foxworthy” — again, the only female invited to roast the man of honor. Lisa appeared on Comedy Central’s “Last Laugh 2005″ and her headlining performances on the Comedy Central roasts of Pamela Anderson and William Shatner, among others, received national attention. Lisa’s 2005 one-hour special, “Take It Like a Man,” was a hit with the comedy network yet again, and the CD and the DVD of the same name hit #6 on the comedy charts. Then, in January 2007, Lisa’s second one-hour special, “Dirty Girl,” debuted on Comedy Central and Warner Bros. Records, and reached #4 on the charts. Soon thereafter, “Dirty Girl” was nominated for a Grammy Award for 2007’s Best Comedy Album of the Year. Lisa has also taped several specials for VH1, MTV, and CMT, and was featured on the “Best of” episode of Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.” Known for saying things that most people are afraid to think, Lisa Lampanelli’s raunchy, gut-busting performances are wildly popular at theaters across the U.S. and Canada. Lisa appeared in “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector” and had a featured role in “Delta Farce,” opposite Bill Engvall, Larry the Cable Guy, and D.J. Quall. She also starred in the feature film, “The Aristocrats” and, most recently, played a more maternal version of herself in the Owen Wilson vehicle, “Drillbit Taylor.” She is currently developing a pilot for a weekly series on HBO with executive producers Jim Carrey and Kario Salem.

* Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in.

Just read “this” on aol.com.

These politician guys- just don’t let you breathe!
_____
WASHINGTON – With gas prices at their lowest in years, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) is proposing a gas tax hike.

The current federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon and has not been raised since 1993.

Senator Corker has proposed a 12 cent per gallon hike spread over two years.

Revenue from the tax funds interstate projects, some of which have been delayed, as less money has come in as vehicles become more efficient.

There are projections the Highway Trust Fund will be short $160 billion over the next ten years.

States often add their own tax on top of the federal gas tax.

Tennessee adds 21.4 cents to each gallon of gas, which is the 13th lowest state gas tax in the country.

* Wellington Amphitheater, 12100 Forest Hill Boulevard, Wellington, Florida 33414, (561) 791-4000.

Got a real heads-up for some of you guys, the Wellington Amphitheater which is located on Forest Hill Boulevard just west of 441 (State Road 7).

In a nutshell, on a weekly basis/in the evening- the Amphitheater- holds Free Family Oriented Events, such as Movies, Concerts and Food Truck “Invasions” …all you gotta do, is bring yourself and maybe a lawn chair, or blanket. Like I just said, the events are FREE and there is plenty of Free Parking.

Jeff Eats has seen a handful of some real good concerts there- and I gotta tell you- the combination of nice weather/food truck stuff/terrific music- in my book, really can’t be beat!

Just a quick shout out to the Amphitheater’s “booker”…”Your selection of “acts” is terrific.”

Long story short, if this kinda stuff is of interest to you, then you- gotta keep a close eye on wellintongovfl.com where you’ll find schedules/other info.

In the meantime, to help you guys out…I’ve listed Wellington Amphitheater’s January & February, 2015 schedule.

THIRD WORLD SCAMMERS DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO BE GOOD CROOKS!

* THIRD WORLD SCAMMERS DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO BE GOOD CROOKS!

Jeff Eats just this minute got the “below” e-mail…

It is e-mails like this, that tell the story…THIRD WORLD CHARACTERS don’t even know how to be GOOD CROOKS!

Just a little story for you…A couple of months ago, Jeff Eats received a phone call from some guy purporting to be with the IRS. He was ranting and raving about back taxes and how I was going to go to jail unless I immediately paid the balance due-with my credit card. Of course, I told the guy to go F-himself and hung up! This past Friday, the same guy called (same phone number and his accent was the same) purporting to be with the United States Department Of Defense and telling me that I had been placed on the Terrorist Subversive List and needed to immediately pay a $250 fine with my credit card- to get off the list. I couldn’t stop laughing- when the guy immediately hung-up… when I told him that I was Major General Jeff Eats assigned to Camp Blanding Army Base in Starke, Florida and that all of my incoming calls-were taped and monitored by the United States Army.

All I know is that these SCAMMERS should first learn how to speak and write proper ENGLISH before they take a run-at-us!

Like I said, these THIRD WORLD SCAMMERS don’t even know how to be GOOD CROOKS!

Brother Jimmy’s BBQ (Miami (3))

***** Brother Jimmy’s BBQ, 900 South Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida 33130, (305) 517-3124.

Brother Jimmy’s BBQ…small bbq chain. There are currently 3-joints in Miami (Brickell, Sunset, Dolphin Mall), 5 in NYC, 1 in Westchester, NY, 1 in New Brunswick, NJ.

Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple recently did “dinner” at the Brickell restaurant.

The best way to describe Brother Jimmy’s BBQ…a sports bar bbq joint. Indoor booth & table seating, outdoor table seating, reasonably priced menu loaded with appetizers/bbq stuff/burgers/sandwiches/salads, flat screen tvs galore, full liquor bar.

Not sure if this is gonna make sense to you, but imagine (if you can) TGI Fridays with a touch of Hooters (the restaurant chain) thrown in- as a bbq joint and you’ll be on the right page!. Now, just so we are straight, Jeff Eats really enjoyed- Brother Jimmy’s BBQ- but I’m guessing that it “probably” isn’t the kind of bbq joint that David Duke, the Grand Wizard or for that matter the Grand Dragon grew-up on! Between you and me, this joint is absolutely perfect for guys like Jeff Eats who use to cut-Hebrew school every chance that we got!

Not even gonna waste a load of ink-detailing what we had…chopped cobb salad, popcorn shrimp, cheeseburger sliders/brisket sliders/pulled pork sliders, fried chicken, wet ribs, southern ribs, corn bread, French fries, corn on the cob, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, fried brussel sprouts, collard greens…trust me-the décor, the vibe, the food, the service- made for a real strong outing. I’m thinking that this joint must really be hopping on tv-football and basketball days/nights- and absolutely wild on Super Bowl Sunday!

Like I said a handful of seconds ago, I really enjoyed “sports bar bbq joint” Brother Jimmy’s BBQ.

You can check brotherjimmys.com for menu/prices/locations/other info.

Brother Jimmy’s BBQ is open 7 days a week 11:30am-2am.

***** J.R. Pizza Bella Restaurant.

Got a really good (actually make that a terrific) hole in the wall mom & pop red sauce Italian joint for you…J.R. Pizza Bella in Margate.

Nothing for nothing, Jeff Eats already “GOT” this one- for you way back on January 29, 2013-the writeup is down below.

Real simple story, Jeff Eats hadn’t been back since that 2013 outing…ate there last night with Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple- and the food/service absolutely blew me away…no ifs, ands or buts, one of the best hole in the wall mom and pop red sauce Italian joints that I’ve eaten in down here in South Florida.

Let me throw some color into the mix here- since Jeff Eats or for that matter Mrs. Jeff Eats weren’t raised in Italian American households-for me to tell you that J.R. Pizza Bella’s food tastes like the stuff our mothers-made, I’d be lying to you…that said, the-food we had last night (pizza, veal parmigiana, veal pizzola, garlic rolls, minestrone soup, chicken scarpariella, mussels marinara, house salad) tasted like it came-out of someone’s home kitchen- and her name wasn’t Anna Goodman or Rhoda Eisenberg. Hopefully you get what I’m trying to say, if not, not!

If you are looking for fancy schmancy, stop right now- but if your game is dynamite food, terrific service, wearing a tee shirt/shorts/flip flop ensemble, big portions, very reasonable prices EAT at J.R. Pizza Bella Restaurant.

You can check menu/prices/other info at jrpizzabella.com.

The joint is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm.

***** J. R. Pizza Bella Restaurant, 7868 West Sample Road, Margate, Florida 33065, (954) 753-1300.

Got a real good “hole in the wall” mom & pop–red sauce Italian joint for you…J. R. Pizza Bella Restaurant in Margate.

Rather than beating around the bush with all kinds of stories—J.R. Pizza Bella has to be ranked right up there with the best of the Italian red sauce “mom & pop” joints Jeff Eats has “tried” down here in sunnny South Florida. Trust me- I know that’s quite a statement for me to make–based on the number of joints I’ve hit, but what is-is! This little joint, really cranked out some delicious stuff.

J. R. has the full-boat of pizzas, pastas, hot/cold subs, seafood/chicken/meat entrees. You can check menu/prices at www.jrpizzabella.com.

Like I said a few seconds ago, this is a “hole in the wall”—handful of tables and booths, that’s it. I know it isn’t really necessary to tell you, but—your shorts/tee shirt ensembles will work well at this joint.

Tried J. R. out for dinner the other night…large cheese pizza ($13.95), veal parmigiana ($16.95), meat lasagna ($11.95), chicken marsala ($14.95), zuppa di pesce ($22.95)—every “item” was right on the money. The joint’s garlic rolls, minestrone soup, ziti with marinara sauce and house salad were also delicious. Good size portions, super pleasant service, reasonable prices—nothing really missing from this outing.

Let me close this one out by saying…J. R. Pizza Bella Restaurant is a winner.

J.R. Pizza Bella Restaurant is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 11am-10pm.
