Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats (don’t tell the Eats- kids) have spent a good number of nights there and I gotta tell you, we’ve always had a great time! The joint isn’t “big” but it does have a full bar area (real reasonable prices), something like 30 tvs, indoor/outdoor seating…and as you can see from the down below menu, enough- reasonably priced/decent “bar food” so everyone will find what to eat! For-you guys who maybe wondering and I know who you are…the cheeseburger ($8.99-comes with French fries), the grilled parmesan wings (10-$9.99) and the prime ribs sliders (3-$10.99) are real strong!

Real simple “tale” to tell…

A couple of weeks ago, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats were the guests of the Mizner Country Club (Delray Beach) at a 140 member-party…

The Friday night event included a top-shelf-open bar cocktail hour, a dinner buffet loaded with “tons” of delicious food…stylish- but not ridiculously over the top table/room decorations…tremendous-competent wait-staff.

Mizner’s “Social Director” booked one of Tampa’s hottest and in-demand bands, the 8-piece The Super Stars Band, who blew the crowd away with terrific covers of 40’s-to-today’ hits!

For you “historians” out there, The Super Stars Band is fronted by Ronnie Dee, the eldest son of the legendary Joe Dee of Joey Dee & The Starliters’ fame. To add to the story, the band also includes two of Joey’s daughters, one of Joey’s grandsons and one of Joey’s nephews…nothing like keeping the business in the family! When Joey Dee tours, The Super Stars Band- takes the name The Starliters for the tour!

Jeff Eats is no shill for the Mizner Country Club nor for that matter The Super Stars Band. What I do know is when I’ve had a great time…I also know when a Country Club’s management team does a great job…just for starters. “booking” a Tampa based band- to play a Country Club in Delray Beach- tells me, that someone at Mizner wants -members to have fresh and new entertainment!

To wrap this one up, if you guys are looking for a band- that absolutely kills- and one- that your friends have probably never seen…get The Super Stars Band, they really are that good!

A recent dinner outing of Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and 2- other couples had us doing…spinach salad, cobb salad, calamari marinara, fried chicken sliders, meatball parmigiana sub, meat lasagna, cheese pizza, mozzarella/ricotta calzone, cheeseburger, philly cheese steak sub, zeppoli and I gotta tell you that no one bitched. Now for sure, some-things were better than others, but all in all a real nice outing! If Jeff Eats had to single out the big winners- fried chicken sliders, philly cheese steak sub, New York Style Pizza (thin crisp crust/sweet sauce) absolutely killed…and- the zeppoli at $4.99 a dozen-were alone-worth the drive down from Boca Raton!

Let me wrap this New River Grill & Pizza up for you guys…this is a real good joint to know about and it doesn’t hurt that it’s open 7 days a week from 11am-4am…Believe it or not, some people in South Florida actually stay up past 9pm!

Jeff Eats recently caught 5 piece- Making Faces in action-and the band literally blew me away! Innovative new stuff and fresh covers of 1960’s-today’s hits!

Like I kinda said before, the band killed!

Got an absolutely dynamite joint for you guys, 101 Italian Restaurant & Lounge which opened about 3-months ago in Sunny Isles Beach.

Real simple tale to tell you here…

101 Italian Restaurant & Lounge is owned/operated by the same guys who created/owned-the wildly successful Matteo’s Restaurant chain- which for our purposes- currently has 2-South Florida locations -Boca Raton and Hallandale. To this very day, Matteo’s is one of Jeff Eats’ all-time favorite Southern Italian Restaurants. If you wanna check, I got some real nice “reviews” on Matteo’s.

Long story short,

Not sure of the details or politics or for that matter the money- involved, but Matteo’s original owners sold a few years ago…they are now “back”- with a new Florida restaurant named 101 Italian Restaurant & Lounge.

Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and Daughter Jeff Eats ate there last night…delicious food, terrific service, modern decor, full liquor bar, reasonable prices, 200+ seats with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Last night’s chopped salad, baked clams oreganta, fried zucchini, grilled pork chop, penne alla vodka and shrimp Luciano were absolute dynamite. Just so there is no misunderstanding, 101 Italian isn’t a Matteo’s clone- trust Jeff Eats when I tell you-that although many of its dishes-are similar, 101’s menu has a real good handful of items-that Matteo’s doesn’t have -and vice versa!

Let me wrap this up for you, 101 Italian Restaurant & Lounge is going to be a homerun. Its got the right pedigree!-the guys running the show, are consummate and I do mean consummate pros!

* Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band.

You wanna see one of America’s best- 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s Rock N Roll cover bands- go see Miami based- Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band! No bs- here…these guys are about as good as it gets. Jeff Eats has seen Viva a number of times, I’m a huge fan!

Viva has an upcoming 7/11/15 appearance at the Pavilion Grille in Boca Raton…Jeff Eats has never been to the joint, so I can’t comment on the facility/or its food. What I do know- good, bad, lousy, terrific food- Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band is going to kill!

Just between you and Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and I are gonna catch Viva on the 11th!-and my good friend Norman W. told me that Pavilion Grille’s flatbreads, burgers, grilled mahi sandwich and chicken parmigiana are-not to be missed!
