Comedian Bobby Collins has an ability to truthfully translate the human condition. Through precise physical timing and impeccable audience insight, he has honed his talents while performing from hole in the wall clubs to sold out theaters. His true dedication to his craft is what keeps his vibrant shows consistently sold out.

A native New Yorker, Collins possesses a confidence and genuine everyman likeability that can only be earned. He knows what it’s like to work a day job, in order to pursue a dream. He’s flipped his share of burgers, as well as signing on as a substitute high school history teacher, to pay the bills – all the while performing in comedy clubs at night.

Realizing his dream has given Bobby the opportunity to tour with titans of entertainment like Frank Sinatra, Cher, Julio Iglesias and Dolly Parton. As a professional stand-up comedian, he’s worked alongside friends, Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Drew Carey, as well as many others. Rosie O’Donnell specifically requested that Bobby take over as host for Stand-Up Spotlight. Collins is widely regarded as a “comic’s comic.”

Santino’s Pizza-Pasta (Pembroke Pines)

***** Santino’s Pizza-Pasta, 18267 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33029, (954) 441-0080.

Santino’s Pizza-Pasta is an “out of sight, out mind” mom & pop-red sauce Italian joint.

Jeff Eats first told you guys about Santino’s on December 13, 2013-and the truth be told, I hadn’t been back- until last night.

Long story short…

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did dinner- and I am telling you guys that the veal parmigiana, cheese pizza and chicken marsala that we shared, were all right on the money!

image

Let me wrap this one up for you…

Good food, reasonable prices, pleasant service, nice size portions- makes Santino’s Pizza-Pasta a joint that Jeff Eats wishes was in Boca Raton (that’s where I live) than in Pembroke Pines (that’s where it’s located)!

If you guys live or work anywhere near Santino’s- give it a shot… I’m thinking you’ll really enjoy the food!

“Look what they did to my boy. Look what they did to Santino!”

Anyway…

Got a real-good- Pembroke Pines’ “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you…Santino’s Pizza-Pasta. You can check menu/prices/photos/other stuff at www.santinospizzapasta.com.

Now, straight up I’m telling you that…Santino’s Pizza-Pasta has definitely not reinvented the wheel-here! With that in mind, Jeff Eats really enjoyed the large pizza ($12.95)-gnocchi with meat sauce ($11.75)-veal marsala ($14.95)-zuppa di pesce ($20.95) that made their way to the Eats’ table. Throw in the fact, that all of the entrees came with a house salad/or soup, pasta side and delicious garlic rolls and you gotta-know that Jeff Eats was an extremely happy camper.

Santino’s is what I call a no-brainer…tons of good solid red sauce stuff and loads of Coca Cola (ice tea or is it iced tea?- in Mrs. Jeff Eats’ case) for tops 50 bucks a couple…and of course, your tee shirt/shorts ensemble will be in fashion.

Santino’s Pizza-Pasta is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 1pm-10pm.

Who isn’t familiar with these classic tunes? Once again, the band stays as close as possible to the original recordings and the orchestra is “wrapped” around that original sound. Lots of vocals, lots of harmonic structure and a perfect group to be accompanied by an orchestra. High energy, fun music, and the familiarity of the songs make the show a fun one both to play and to see. Vegas veteran Brody Dolyniuk handles the complex and difficult task of representing the unmistakable vocals of Freddie Mercury, and Randy Jackson perfectly personifies the vocals of Robert Plant. If you’re an average fan or someone who knows literally every song every recorded by Queen or Led Zeppelin, there’s something for you in this show. Windborne digs deep to bring out some of the best (and sometimes forgotten) tunes that these two legendary bands recorded over the years.

The Musicians for this show are:
Brent Havens – Conductor, Arranger
Brody Dolyniuk – Vocals/Guitar
Dan Clemens – Bass/Background Vocals
Powell Randolph – Drums/Background Vocals
George Cintron – Guitar/Background Vocals
Bart Kuebler – Keyboards/Background Vocals

No bs- people are always asking Jeff Eats where they can get terrific coal oven pizzas/wings and salads…

Now- you guys and Jeff Eats know that there are a handful of Sunny South Florida joints that fit-the bill…

With the above in mind, seeing that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats just got back home from eating at Grimaldi’s Coal-Brick Oven Pizzeria in Palm Beach Gardens- I’m thinking, actually I’m knowing- that “it” is definitely one of the best coal oven pizza joints in South Florida!

For all you guys who have never eaten at Grimaldi’s- trust Jeff Eats when I tell you…if you’re into delicious coal oven pizza/wings and salads, then you gotta try Grimaldi’s stuff- absolute dynamite!

Here’s Jeff Eats’ 9/19/11 “review” on the joint…

***** Grimaldi’s Coal-Brick Oven Pizzeria, 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Avenue, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410, (561) 625-4669.

Grimaldi’s Coal-Brick Oven Pizzeria is a “coal oven” pizza chain…there are currently locations in Arizona, Florida, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas. For our purposes, there is currently 1-location in South Florida (Palm Beach Gardens) with announced plans to open a second spot at 1 North Clematis Street, West Palm Beach.

You can check menu/prices/locations at www.grimaldispizzeria.com.

Over the years, I’m gonna guess- that I have eaten in the Brooklyn location 10 times and the Tucson joint 8…Last night, I had dinner at Palm Beach Garden’s restaurant…same menu, same delicious pizza. The only problem I have with Grimaldi’s is that its menu is extremely limited…like try- pizza, a handful of salads, handful of calzones, handful of desserts…end of story. So–if pizza and salad ain’t your bag, you’re in for a serious problem while the rest of your party stuff their faces.

The Palm Beach Gardens’ joint is located in DOWNTOWN AT THE GARDENS…a gorgeous white elephant outdoor mall, which has more empty stores than there are Chins in a Chinese phonebook.

Grimaldi’s pizza is outstanding…it’s right up there with the best of breed. The joint’s caesar and caprese salad are also delicious. The Palm Beach Garden’s joint has a full bar, indoor and outdoor patio seating.

So what we got here…one of the best coal fired pizza/salad joints in South Florida albeit with a very limited menu…great looking indoor wood decor/outdoor patio seating…full bar—in a huge ghost town complex.

Grimaldi’s is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-midnight.

Jeff Eats is gonna make this a simple tale…

Augy’s Pizza Restaurant is a terrific “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint. I singled out its veal parmigiana (comes with soup or salad, pasta side, garlic rolls) for special mention, but trust me when I tell you that its other stuff like- pizza, penne alla vodka, shrimp marinara, eggplant parmigiana, sausage & peppers are also dynamite. Throw in huge portions, reasonable prices and a super pleasant wait-staff and you got yourself a must try- “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint!

Augy’s Pizza Restaurant…another Jeff Eats’ “out of sight, out of mind” joint.

Just that simple, Jeff Eats very rarely travels on Boca Raton Boulevard.

Long story short, ate at Augy’s last night and the food was absolute dynamite.

Reprinted below is Jeff Eats’ 1/7/10 essay on Augy’s Pizza Restaurant.

If you’re looking for delicious reasonably priced mom & pop red sauce stuff, tons of garlic rolls, Coca Cola refills up the wazoo, delightful waitresses-counter folks and owners- then Augy’s is definitely for you!

Posted on January 7th, 2010 · Boca Raton Italian Pizza

***** Augy’s Pizza Restaurant, 1501 Northwest Boca Raton Boulevard, Boca Raton, Florida 33432 (561) 368-1330.

Do me a big a big favor and check my Augy’s Pizza Restaurant review which I did back on July 23, 2008…it will save me from doing some typing here.

Augy’s is a “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint…it has been around for something like 1,000 years.

That 2008 review told you…that a few years ago the “original” owners sold the joint to new guys, blah blah, blah…

Anyway…to make a long story–short…the old owners are BACK running the joint. During the past 4 weeks, I have eaten in Augy’s three times and the food has been outrageously good—in fact, better than ever. Some of the dishes that I have “sampled”… chicken marsala, bone in chicken cacciatore, pizza, veal parmigiana, bone in chicken scarpiello, shrimp scampi, garlic bread (not garlic knots), minestrone soup…and I must tell you, Augy’s is right up there with the best mama-poppa Italian joints in South Florida. By the way, they currently have a $20 dinner special…soup or salad, appetizer, entree, pasta side, dessert. They also have a Monday-Friday lunch buffet of pizzas–subs-salads for something like 5 bucks.

If you haven’t eaten in Augy’s…you gotta give it a shot. Nothing fancy here…but I am telling you– big portions, reasonable prices and the food is delicious.

Augy’s is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
