***** Anne Marie’s Italian American Pizzeria, 4570 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073, (954) 974-5683.

Yesterday, Jeff Eats and Mr. Jeff Eats spent a good part of the day watching some “playoff football” at our friends Mike and Lynn’s house in Coconut Creek. Mike and Lynn also had a whole bunch of other people over- I’m kinda thinking everybody counted 16- give or take!

Long story short, Mike and Lynn brought in a load of food- some was from Anne Marie’s Italian American Pizzeria in Coconut Creek…Mike and Lynn footed the bill and Jeff Eats’ only involvement with the food was going with Mike to Anne Marie’s to pick-it-up and of course eat “it” once we got it “home.”

Just so you guys know, Anne Marie’s is a “mom & pop” Italian red sauce joint- maybe 8 tables and some wall-counter seating! Absolutely nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination going on there!

Mike and Lynn’s order… 4 16″ cheese pizzas (1 sausage & pepperoni, 1 cheese, 1 green peppers, 1 meatball), 4 chicken parmigiana whole subs, 4 philly steak & cheese whole subs, 4 philly chicken & cheese whole subs, 4 philly sausage & cheese whole subs, 3 chicken & broccoli large strombolis, 3 steak large strombolis, 40 baked wings (honey garlic, teriyaki) and I gotta tell you, the stuff was delicious- just so you know, Jeff Eats “tried” everything- and this joint’s food was right on the money!

Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that food “reviewing” is a totally subjective situation- what I like, you may find disgusting and vice versa! With that in mind, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats loved Anne Marie’s food. No bs- here, free or “no” free (remember, Mike and Lynn paid) Anne Marie’s stuff was exactly what a bunch of folks watching playoff -football games were looking for – if that makes sense to you?

Let me wrap this one up for you guys, football or no football- if you live or work near Anne Marie’s you gotta try this joint!

If you wanna eat some- outrageously delicious Mediterranean/Greek stuff- go eat at Miami Mediterranean Cuisine in Miami Beach. Jeff Eats singled out the joint’s lamb chops (served over rice with house salad) for special mention, but trust me- it’s all good at this hole in the wall!

***** Miami Mediterranean Cuisine, 209 11th Street, Miami Beach, Florida 33139, (305) 674-8384.

Let me start off by saying that Jeff Eats LOVED-Miami Mediterranean Cuisine. The joint is a mom & pop “hole in the wall”-deal that does delicious Mediterranean stuff. Just so you know, maybe a handful of tables-so don’t plan on holding a Confirmation Party or nothing there. Jeff Eats was in there the other day for lunch-big-big-big takeout business (if I’m not mistaken, big-big-big = huge).

Miami Mediterranean’s menu isn’t gigantic, but trust me you’ll find what to eat…handful of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees. For complete menu/prices check miamimedcuisine.com.

Jeff Eats “tried” gyro ($6.50), chicken shish kebab ($6.50), Greek salad ($7.50), tzatziki ($4.00), babaghonush ($4.00) and really enjoyed everything.

Look! You guys know that Jeff Eats really isn’t into rankings and other such nonsense…I just love people who say- “That was the best pizza I ever ate.”- or “That was the best grilled cheese sandwich I ever had.” For crying out-loud, I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning. Hopefully you guys get Jeff Eats’ point!

Anyway,

With the above in mind, I gotta tell you that the everything I ate was delicious and the gyro-if memory serves me correctly, was one of the best that I’ve ever eaten…hey, I’m only human!

Let’s wrap this one up for you,

Miami Mediterranean Cuisine makes terrific stuff.

Jeff Eats highly recommends that you give it a shot.

The joint is open 7 days a week 11am-2am

Got an absolutely terrific seafood market/restaurant for you guys…Pop’s Fish Market in Deerfield Beach.

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, if you weren’t “looking” for Pop’s- you’d probably drive right pass the joint- really nothing to look at! Trust me on this one, bad move- as Pop’s is one of the best fish markets in all of South Florida- with all kinds of reasonably priced fresh/prepared seafood and other stuff!

Pop’s has been around since 1957- so Jeff Eats is kinda thinking that the joint must be doing something right!

Pop’s Fish Market is open Monday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, closed Sunday…Monday-Friday 11am-4pm, Saturday 11am-3pm Pop’s serves lunch.

The Boca Black Box in Boca Raton shines the spotlight on Sheba Mason — the self-proclaimed lovechild of comedian Jackie Mason — as she stars in The Jackie Mason Musical: Both Sides of a Famous Love Affair. This comedic chronicle looks at the decade-long tryst between the comedy icon and Sheba’s mother, playwright Ginger Reiter. It all begins at a deli in Miami in 1977, where 46-year-old Jackie spots twenty-something Ginger (played by Sheba). Soon, Jackie’s wooing her each winter, whenever he’s in South Florida churning up laughs with the South Beach set. The trouble is, Jackie is also wooing Trixie, a gorgeous young Latina, and Rosa, a senior citizen with attitude, a fact that sends Ginger into romantic distress. After 10 years, she becomes pregnant, Jackie denies his paternity, while still yearning to be with her, and a complicated relationship begins. Watch as original songs like Ode to the Early Bird Special” and “I Never Met This Yenta” pepper Sheba’s major daddy issues.

* Peter Fogel’s- ‘Til Death Do Us Part…You First!

Got something a-little different for you guys, Peter Fogel’s one man show- ‘Til Death Do Us Part…You First!

In a nutshell, last night at the Boca Black Box (8221 Glades Road, Boca Raton, (561) 483-9036, bocablackbox.com) – Peter Fogel the national headliner comedian and current national touring star of “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m In Therapy” had a “read through” of his new national touring show ‘Til Death Do Us Part…something like 50 people were there- to listen/watch and critique the upcoming production.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats were there and I gotta tell you- Fogel had the crowd laughing its ass off for a solid 90 minutes! Trust Jeff Eats, this show is going be a huge hit when it starts making the rounds of casinos, conventions, theaters all across America!

For those of you not familiar with Peter Fogel, the Delray Beach resident is one of the funniest clean-comedians currently working the comedy club/convention circuit today! Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have been Fogel fans for years and last night for the first time it dawned on Jeff Eats that Fogel does one of the best Robert De Niro impersonations on the planet!

Anyway, not going to give away the show’s plot- but think “Scrooge” in a Valentine’s Day setting and you just maybe on the right page!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats can’t wait to see the “full production”- which will debut in South Florida sometime in April, 2016. When a performance schedule is released, Jeff Eats will let you know the where/when and how you can get tickets before anyone else does!

Medley is in for 1- show on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 7:30pm.

The really great kicker to this show, is that comedian Stewie Stone is the opener- you wanna talk “clean” very funny, then talk Stewie Stone. Jeff Eats has seen Stone something like 5-times and like I just said, the guy is hilarious!

Bring back that lovin’ feelin with legendary crooner Bill Medley, better known as one half of the Righteous Brothers. Medley’s distinct baritone combined with Bobby Hatfield’s tenor and Phil Spector’s “wall of sound” production on hits like “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,'” “Just Once in My Life,” “Unchained Melody” and “(You’re My) Soul and Inspiration.” In 1987, Medley and Jennifer Warnes scored a monumental hit with “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” for the film Dirty Dancing. The song earned an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy. For his show at the Countess de Hornie Theatre, Medley will be sharing the stage with Friar’s Club comedian Stewie Stone.

***** Al’s Pizza and Restaurant, 905 US Highway 1, Lake Park, Florida 33403, (561) 855-7471.

Got an absolutely terrific “mom & pop” Italian red sauce joint for you guys, Al’s Pizza and Restaurant in Lake Park.

Gonna make this tale short and sweet, Al’s Pizza and Restaurant is one of the best “mom & pop” Italian red sauce joints that Jeff Eats has eaten in- here in South Florida!

If you’re looking for fancy schmancy, Al’s ain’t gonna work for you! On the other hand, if you’re looking for dynamite food, reasonable prices, huge portions, super pleasant service, this joint is exactly what the opthomologist ordered!

image

The skinny…

First things first, AL’s Pizza and Restaurant is located in the “obligatory” bombed-out el crapo strip center!

Last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate dinner at Al’s. Our order- 16″ cheese pizza, veal parmigiana, shrimp fra diavolo, chicken with broccoli/garlic & oil, veal marsala- all of the entrees came with soup/or house salad, garlic rolls, pasta side. Trust me on this one, “mom & pop” Italian red sauce dynamite delicious! For those of you who like “pecking orders” a virtual tie- every entree was just-right! The pizza, thin crust/sweet sauce/drop of oil drip when pointed down- was also right on the money!

By the way, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats thought that the food was so-good, that we also did a takeout order- sausage & peppers sub, meat lasagna, penne ala vodka, cheese steak with mushrooms/peppers/onions sub for Son Jeff Eats and Daughter Jeff Eats who were at home visiting with us for a few days!- that of course is a story for a whole ‘nother time! At home, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats were “allowed” tastes- and everything was again, right on the money delicious!

Like I said a few seconds ago, Al’s Pizza and Restaurant is a terrific joint. If you live or work anywhere near it, try it- you’ll love it!-that’s of course assuming that your “taste” matches up with mine!

You can check menu/prices/info at alspizzawpb.com

The Pompano Beach Amphitheater just announced that…Buddy- The Buddy Holly Story is in for 1- performance on Tuesday Night, February 9, 2016!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, you wanna see this one!

Just a little something for you guys…Don Mclean’s 1971 hit song “American Pie” is in part about the – 23 year old Holly’s death in an airplane crash on February 3, 1959.

Between you guys and Jeff Eats, every so often I wonder what the careers of Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) who both died in the crash with Holly- would have been like had the crash never happened! One other thing, The Beatles in part- got the idea for their The Beatles- from Buddy Holly’s group’s name The Crickets!

Like I said before, you definitely wanna see this show!
