Banquet Pot Pies

Posted on February 12th, 2016 · American Fast Food · No Comments »

***** Banquet Pot Pies.

The other day while “shopping” in a Walmart Super Store in Delray Beach- Jeff Eats came across Banquet Pot Pies in the frozen food aisle! Next thing I knew, I had 10 of the 7oz- 84 cent suckers in my cart (4 turkey, 4 chicken, 2 sausage & gravy)…long story short, Jeff Eats tried all 3 pies- (all you gotta do is microwave for 5 minutes) and I have to tell you that I loved them!

If you check Banquet’s website banquet.com- it lists all of the 7oz pot pies that it makes and where you can buy them! Like I said 2- seconds ago, I got mine in Walmart and paid 84-cents a piece. A cursory look at Banquet’s website indicates that Publix and Walgreens also carry the pot pies!

For you guys now scratching your heads questioning Jeff Eats’ sanity for buying this “stuff” at Walmart-no less…all I can tell you, is – don’t knock them until you’ve at least tried them for yourself!

One note of caution, Jeff Eats also tried Banquet’s 8-cheeseburger sliders (Walmart-$2.49) and the freaking things tasted like absolute crap!

Burger King Adds Hot Dogs To Its Menu

* Burger King Adds Hot Dogs To Its Menu.

Just in case you missed yesterday’s news, Burger King announced that starting February 23, 2016 all of its US restaurants will be offering a $1.99 100% All Beef Flamed Broiled (Oscar Mayer brand) Hot Dog and a $2.29 100% All Beef Flamed Broiled (Oscar Mayer brand) Chili-Cheese Hot Dog.

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, we’ll have to wait and “taste” the dogs before passing judgment on the new menu items. All I know is that when I’m thinking “hot dogs” the name Oscar Mayer never really enters my equation…but like I just said, we’ll have to taste the dogs before passing judgment. Two other quick thoughts, at least Burger King had the good sense to broiled the dogs and not boil them – and starting February 23, 2016 unless something goes very wrong, Burger King will instantly become the largest retailer of cooked hot dogs in the United States.

Jeff Eats will update this “tale” (pun intended) after I down some of the dogs!

Walmart’s Lemon Pepper Rotisserie & Traditional Rotisserie Chickens

* Walmart’s Lemon Pepper Rotisserie & Traditional Rotisserie Chickens.

Got a real simple story to tell you guys…

For years, Jeff Eats’ very dear friend Roy has been telling me that Walmart’s Lemon Pepper Rotisserie and Traditional Rotisserie Chickens were sensationally delicious- and for years Jeff Eats has paid his very dear friend Roy no mind!- That is until yesterday at 3:46pm when Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats just happened to notice a 7 person line waiting at the deli-counter in the Walmart located on Military Road & Linton Avenue in Delray Beach for Lemon Pepper Rotisserie and Traditional Rotessire Chickens which were coming-off 2- huge rotisserie grills. To make a long story short, in the span of 4 minutes Jeff Eats counted 12 1 lb. 13 oz. $4.99 birds being “snatched up” -with two (1 Lemon, 1 Traditional) of them finding their way into Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ shopping cart!

Let me wrap this one up for you guys, Jeff Eats’ very dear friend Roy was absolutely right Walmart’s Lemon Pepper Rotisserie and Traditional Rotessire Chickens were sensationally delicious. For you guys “into” Costco, Publix, Winn Dixie, Whole Foods, Boston Market trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that “their” rotisserie chickens are no match for Walmart’s Lemon Pepper Rotisserie and Traditional Rotessire Chickens. Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that “taste” is a subjective thing- what you like -I may hate and vice versa, so do what you’d like with the above Walmart Chicken Information!-and those of you with any sense of good taste can thank Jeff Eats later!

La Hardy and Sheba Mason are both powerful performers, but when they take the stage together it’s an all out comedy brawl. This is man vs woman, LA vs New York, comedian vs comedienne. Two different opinions on life, relationships, and the world we live in. Don’t miss Hardy and Mason in what America is going to call the greatest comedic battle of the century…..
Sheba Mason- Born into a theatrical family- Jackie Mason (comedian) and Ginger Reiter (Playwright) – Sheba has been performing singe the age of two as a stage prop in her mother’s play where she sat in her high chair and drank from her bottle. Eventually the bottle turned into a microphone and Sheba has not left the stage since. She has appeared in comedy clubs and for events throughout the country. Currently Sheba performs nightly in comedy clubs in Manhattan spouting her unique witticisms on everything from politics to Grandmas to being single in New York. She stars as her mother in “702 Punchlines & Pregnant: The Jackie Mason Musical” a full cast musical-comedy depicting the tumultuous love affair of her off-beat parents.
LA Hardy- Originally from Cleveland, OH, and now living bi-coastally in Los Angeles, and S. FL.. L.A. is a veteran and versatile performer you have seen everywhere such as Laughs TV, Comedy(dot)TV, Comic’s Unleashed w/ Byron Allen, BET’s Comicview 3x’s, ABC’s According to Jim, MTV, VH1, and The Fuse Network. His film credits include Universal Remote, China Dolls and Guess Who w/ Bernie Mac. He has that face that makes you say I know that guy from somewhere and his voice can be heard regularly on Sirius/XM RADIO.
Described by some as the ”Black Dr. Phil” due to his REAL observations and no holds barred style. He has the ability to make you laugh and reflect while continually entertaining

Call it crazy, but at least once a week -Jeff Eats gets asked among other things-to name his favorite south Florida Italian/pizza joints…very flattering -to think that so many of you guys actually believe that I know what I am talking about…

Anyway…

Way back on June 28, 2010- Jeff Eats “reviewed” Barone’s La Pizzeria…and I gotta tell you, that over the ensuing years, Barone’s has become one of Jeff Eats’ “go to joints.” Personally, I would match Barone’s food/prices/service up-against the best “mom & pop” red sauce players in South Florida.

So…you now know where Jeff Eats goes when he is craving -outstanding New York Style pizza, amazing garlic knots, fabulous minestrone soup, delicious veal marsala—so forth and so on.

One final thought…Barone’s has been around for something like 40 years…that should tell you something!

The original (6/28/10) review is reprinted below.

Barone’s La Pizzeria is a “Mom & Pop—red sauce” pizza joint located in Margate.
You can check its menu/prices at www.lapizzeriamargate.com.

You know and I know that “Mom & Pop” pizza joints are a dime a dozen-down here in old South Florida. I think the way it works…the strip center landlord first signs Publix, then Walgreens, then a Chinese takeout, then a pizza joint, then a dry cleaners…then a —-(you fill in the blanks)….then half of the businesses go bust…

Anyway, the other evening, I gave Barone’s La Pizzeria a shot- and I gotta tell you, the food is real-good. My party did pizza, shrimp scampi, veal parmigiana, meat lasagna, chicken & shrimp alfredo, penne ala vodka—and like I just said, real good.

As you know– over the past few years, old Jeff Eats has eaten-in his fair share of “mom & pop” Italian joints…and, to be perfectly honest with you, most of them barely get the job done, but then again, that’s the nature of the beast…”cheap is cheap”….”you get what you pay for”…”one if by land, 2 if by sea.” Trust me on this one, Barone’s La Pizzeria is REAL GOOD…if you live or work near the joint, I highly recommend that you give it a try.

By the way, Barone’s La Pizzeria is right across Sample Road from the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and is maybe a 3-minute drive (west) from the Festival Flea Market on Sample Road.

Barone’s La Pizzeria is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm

***** Outside The Box Sandwich Co.

Got a real food food truck for you guys…Outside The Box Sandwich Co which “serves” Dade, Broward, Palm Beach counties.

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats love food truck events…the way we see it- a smorgasbord of stuff to chose from! For sure, the quantity and quality of the trucks involved, make the game, but trust Jeff Eats on this, we’ve never “not found what to eat.”

Long story short, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently “did” a food truck event in Parkland’s Pinetrails Park and came across Outside The Box Sandwich Co- which we had never “seen” before, or maybe we had, but didn’t remember it, so on and so forth!

image

Anyway, I gotta tell you that Outside The Box Sandwich Co makes some pretty awesome salads, sandwiches, paninis and wraps. While “there” Jeff Eats did a grilled cheese & bacon-white toast sandwich ($7.50) and Mrs. Jeff Eats did a chicken pesto-ciabatta bread panini ($9.50)…Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats also took home, a chicken caesar wrap ($9) and a mozzarella caprese salad (8.50) and as I said a few seconds ago, the food was absolutely awesome!

To wrap (pun intended) this one up for you guys, you now know about a really good food truck- that’s in the salad, panini, sandwhich, wrap business.

You can follow Outside The Box Sandwich Co at OutsideTheBoxFoodTruck.com.

Long before burger joints like Shake Shack, BurgerFi, Five Guys even existed, Char-Hut (which opened in 1976) was cooking-up outrageously delicious char-grilled burgers/hot dogs/chicken, French fries, onion rings down here in South Florida! The chain currently has 5 locations, Oakland Park, Coral Springs, Davie, Tamarac, Pembroke Pines.

If you haven’t yet been to a Char-Hut…Go! Jeff Eats is kinda thinking you’ll love its stuff!

By the way, Char-Hut’s 1/2 lb. Big Bite Bacon Cheese Char-Burger ain’t no slouch either!

Char-Hut is a  South Florida fast-food “burger” chain…that currently has 4 locations, Davie, Sunrise, Tamarac and Pembroke Pines. The food is absolutely incredible…burgers, hot dogs, pork, chicken, sausage, tuna, french fries, onion rings…the chain has a cult-like following…Over the years, I have eaten in every one of Char-Hut’s joints and not one of them is within 20 miles of my home.  Check Char Hut’s website  www.char-hut.com for menu/pricing/details. Just so you know, Char Hut has all kinds of “meal combination specials” and its prices are no more expensive than the big fast food chains.

Char-Hut does lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Guranteed, after you eat at Char-Hut, you will be a member of the CULT.
