***** Nick’s Pizza, 137 Northeast 2nd Avenue, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33441, (954) 698-0333.

Got a real good mom & pop red sauce Italian joint for you guys, Nick’s Pizza in Deerfield Beach.

Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that mom & pop red sauce Italian joints are literally a dime a dozen down here in sunny Florida- and for that matter- everywhere else in the good old USA! We also know, that some are good, some are real good, some are fair and some are straight-out lousy…well Nick’s Pizza is one of the real good ones!

Long story short, yesterday Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Daughter Jeff Eats and Son Jeff Eats did lunch at Nick’s and other than for a small dose of “family related drama” the 2 pizza slices/2 salads/1 cheese calzone/1 chicken parm sub/1 veal parm sub- meal went off without a hitch!

If you’re into mom & pop red sauce Italian joints- Jeff Eats can’t see you guys-not liking Nick’s Pizza which is open Monday-Friday 11am-10pm, Saturday-Sunday noon-10pm.

***** Olive Garden Restaurant, 22161 Powerline Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 750-0786.

I am going to assume that everyone “here” knows what an Olive Garden Restaurant is. For those who don’t, Olive Garden Restaurant is an enormous ITALIAN RESTAURANT CHAIN which has “tons” of locations in South Florida, not to mention the United States.

Olive Garden has something for everyone. It has soups, salads, appetizers, pastas, pizzas, fish/meat entrees etc. This joint is a “budget shop,” where you get lots-of-food at very reasonable prices. This joint is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

I recently had dinner at the Olive Garden Restaurant located on Powerline Road in Boca Raton, Florida and I “must” tell you, that the food was “pretty damn good.” Gourmet stuff? Now let’s not get “stupid” here. That said, the lasagna, meatballs, fettucine Alfredo, chicken parmigiana and shrimp primavera that I “sampled,” were not bad…not bad at all.

I usually don’t recommend chain-joints, but I am going to make an exception for Olive Garden. The next time you feel like having a nice, casual Italian lunch/dinner, without “going for your lungs, keep Olive Garden in mind.

Bruno’s- real good food, big portions, super pleasant service, very reasonable prices…

***** Bruno’s Italian Restaurant, 8556 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, Florida 34747, (407) 397-7577.

Do you remember as a kid, spelling Mississippi with just one eye? For some reason Kissimmee-got Jeff Eats thinking about that.

Anyway…

Got a -good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you guys…Bruno’s Italian Restaurant in Kissimmee.

Now- just so we are straight with each other, nothing revolutionary going on here.

Solid enough- veal parmigiana, chicken parmigiana, pizza, baked ziti, shrimp scamp, garlic rolls… entrées (salad/pasta side/garlic rolls) run $9-$16–large 16″ pizza fetches 13 bucks.

To paraphrase the famous Cuban philosopher-Ricky Ricardo…”the best way to ‘splain’” Bruno’s–a real good place to know about- having already ridden Dumbo-and going for your lungs for 4-1 Day Magic Kingdom Tickets.

In all seriousness, if Bruno’s was in my neighborhood–Jeff Eats would definitely be a pretty steady eat-in/take-out customer.

You can check menu/prices/photos at www.brunos192.com.

Bruno’s Italian Restaurant is open 7 days a week 11:30am-11pm.

ANDREW DICE CLAY is proud to be one of America’s most controversial and outrageous comics. When he released his debut album, Dice, the parental advisory label simply read “Warning: This album is offensive.”

Clay’s rise to fame was nothing less than meteoric; he became the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden two nights in a row and was the only performer ever “Banned For Life from MTV.”

Over the last few years, Clay’s career has experienced a resurgence, most notably when he starred to great critical acclaim alongside Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, his recurring role on the final season of Entourage and Martin Scorsese’s Vinyl. His other notable TV credit is The Celebrity Apprentice, where he is proud to have been the first celebrity thrown off the show.

***** Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza, 9140 Forest Hill Boulevard, Wellington, Florida 33411, (561) 333-4949.

Last night, Jeff Eats took-out from red sauce Italian joint… Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza in Wellington. and I gotta tell you, this restaurant makes some really delicious stuff.

Real simple concept, order at the counter/takeout…or the food is delivered to something like 6 inside booths/handful of outside tables. By the way, the restaurant is located in a very quaint cool looking “New England” style strip-center…which also has a Chinese joint, a Dunkin’ Donuts, an ice cream store, a custom cake- making store, a liquor store–you won’t think- you’re in Florida! Real interesting, in addition to ice cream and yogurt-the ice cream store sells fresh orange juice quarts/gallons-candy by the pound, and has a whole area for fresh flowers…the Chinese joint which is basically a takeout has 4 large 6- seat booths-for those who want to eat-in. Like I said 1 second ago, the strip center has a real different feel to it!

Anyway…

Jeff Eats “got to” Basilico’s around 6:30pm last night and there was something like 8 guys behind the counter making pizzas etc. and 2 young ladies at the register. In the 25 minutes or so that I waited for my order, every booth inside was taken and I watched numerous pickups and phone orders being taken…I didn’t notice anyone eating outside.

Basilico’s menu is loaded with appetizers, salads, pizzas, pastas, strombolis, calzones, hot/cold subs, entrees. You can check its menu/prices at basilicospizza.com.

Ordered items included large 16″ pizza ($9.99), Chicken parmesan sub ($7.99), sausage & peppers stromboli ($6.79), eggplant parmesan entrée (pasta side/garlic breadsticks- $10.59) and like I said 3 seconds ago, the stuff was really delicious.

Look!

Jeff Eats has been to his fair share of red sauce Italian joints down here in south Florida and- this Basilico’s joint is a huge winner. The food was really-solid, the prices CHEAP (I believe I’m suppose to say inexpensive or very reasonable)-trust me, Basilico’s gives you a ton of food for cheap-money-and the food isn’t crap quality!

Let me wrap this up for you, if Basilico’s was by my house (which unfortunately it isn’t) Jeff Eats would definitely be a very steady customer.

Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza is open 7 days a week.
