***** The Bol, 5550 Northwest 40th Street, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073, (954) 378-7850.
Got an absolutely dynamite Chinese/Vietnamese joint for you guys to checkout- The Bol located in the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in Coconut Creek.
Last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Daughter Jeff Eats and Son jeff Eats “discovered” The Bol and after applying Jeff Eats’- Brooklyn Jewish American Chinese Food Taste Test Circa 1957- I gotta tell you guys- that this joint is turning out some of the most delicious Chinese food that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have had during our 27 year South Florida residency! As for The Bol’s Vietnamese dishes, no expert here- but like its Chinese stuff- absolutely delicious!
Simple concept working here- booth/table/hi-top/counter seating, open kitchen, almost reasonably priced (hey!- the joint is in a casino and I’m kinda thinking that something like 70% of the people that eat at The Bol- use “points” to pay for their food- thus the “non-local-neighborhood prices) menu of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, super pleasant service, open Sunday-Thursday 11:30am-1am/Friday & Saturday 11:30am-3am.
Trust Jeff Eats on this one, The Bol is an absolute homerun! Forget that it doesn’t have Early Bird Specials and Combo Plates and all kinds of Dinner Deals- the few extra bucks you’re gonna spend (that’s assuming you don’t use “points”) to eat there won’t kill you- or require you to get a second job…and I’m telling you- that you will absolutely love the food!

Real easy story to tell you guys, Thick and Thin makes an outrageously delicious New York Style Pizza- thin crisp/sweet sauce.
The joint is an absolute hole-in-the-wall with a handful of tables/booths.
Thick and Thin has been around since 1979- so Jeff Eats is thinking that “people”-must really like its pizzas, pastas, subs, calzones, meat/chicken/seafood entrees!
When you eat there, don’t let the “takeout” traffic bother you- it’s sorta- like the Lincoln Tunnel going to Jersey- on a Friday night around 5:45pm!
Try Thick and Thin- it’s real good!

***** Thick & Thin Restaurant & Pizzeria, 23062 Sandalfoot Plaza Drive, Boca Raton, Florida, (561) 482-7020.
Thick & Thin has been around since 1979.
There is an old saying, “Out of sight, out of mind.” When I first moved down to South Florida 16 years ago, Thick & Thin was one of the regular “mom & pop” red-sauce joints that got my business at least once or twice a month. Over the years, for one reason or another, Thick & Thin became an “out of sight, out of mind joint.” Now don’t hold me to this, but until last night, I think the last time I was in Thick & Thin was something like 7-8 years ago. Why I forgot about this joint?…I don’t know.
Anyway…last night I ate dinner in this hole-in-the-wall and I have to tell you, that the food is as good as when I was a regular customer. Great pizza…veal parmigiana…veal francese…veal marsala…You know the drill, soup or salad, entree, side of pasta and garlic rolls…
Thick & Thin is located in a shopping center on 441 in Boca Raton. The CVS is out of business…The Winn Dixie is out of business…Many other vacancies, yet this little joint which seats about 50 was jammed and the take-out business was booming.
This is a real casual joint, so tee shirts/shorts are the dress of the day. Like I said before, Thick & Thin has been around for something like 29 years, so obviously even without my patronage it has been doing just fine.
This joint is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and by the way, in the center there is a great car wash Express Car Wash that for 8 bucks gives you one of the best exterior washes going.

***** Trader Joe’s Pancake Bread.
Real simple tale- yesterday morning Jeff Eats “discovered” Trader Joe’s Pancake Bread (15oz-$3.99) at- Trader Joe’s, 855 South Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, (561) 338-5031 and I gotta tell you, that this pancake flavored bread (which is actually a cake)- whether you eat it straight out of the package or warm it up in the oven/or microwave is absolutely delicious.
You guys can check traderjoes.com for store locations/product info.
from traderjoes.com
A loaf of Trader Joe’s Pancake Bread, more specifically. What exactly is Pancake Bread? It’s a twist on a buttermilk short stack, baked into a sweet, moist loaf. The loaf itself is unbelievably moist, with a golden-brown hue, and a tender, cake-like crumb. Packed in a kraft tray with a re-closable lid, we’ve left the loaf intact and unsliced to maintain its moist texture, while allowing you to slice it as thick or thin as your heart desires. The addition of fragrant maple syrup puts the “Pancake” in “Pancake Bread,” and evokes the delightful sweetness of its namesake, without the need for busting out the griddle.
So where does the twist come in? Each loaf of Pancake Bread is crowned with a layer of sweet, crumbly streusel, made with real butter, brown sugar and fragrant cinnamon – think coffee cake. Try a hearty slice of Pancake Bread with a glass of milk or hot cup of coffee – you’ll quickly realize the heights to which coffee cake can soar. In addition to being fond of bread and breakfast, we’re also quite fond of great values – which is why we’re offering 15-ounce loaves of Trader Joe’s Pancake Bread for the WOW price of $3.99. Similar breads sell in bakeshops for $5.99 – or more! You’ll find ours in our bakery section.

***** V & S Italian Deli Subs and Pasta, 2621 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33431 (561) 395-5206.
V & S is a small Italian takeout-deli located in Boca Raton. The joint has been around since 1985-and has the full gamut of cold and hot subs/sandwiches/salads/Italian entrees/pasta dishes. On the sub price-front, figure on spending $6.50-$8 depending on whether you get small-or-large.
A recent outing had Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “sampling” some subs and I gotta tell you guys- absolutely top-shelf! Delicious fresh baked hard crust bread stuffed with great “fillings”- just that simple!
Like I said two seconds ago, V & S is basically a takeout (handful of wall counter seats) so don’t planning on staging big weddings, bar mitzvahs or baby namings there!
The joint is open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 10am-3pm.
