Just a quick observation,

The older Jeff Eats gets, the more-I become just like my Great Uncle Sammy Ginsberg (on my mother’s side)–for some reason, I find myself REPEATING-and- REPEATING and REPEATING things.

With that in mind, back on June 4, 2014 and August 28, 2014 I told you guys about- Gridiron Grill-Off set for November 8, 2014…rather than repeating what I told you back on June 4, 2014 and August 28, 2014- all I can tell you is that this charity event is going to be off-the chart! Celebrities, Sports Stars, Great Food, Great Music, Great Drink–all I can tell you is that this charity event is going to be off- the chart!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats will be there, will be there, will be there-and you should be there too, and you should be there too!-I know, enough already with the repeating bit! ok-ok-ok.

Somewhere -down below in the reprinted June 4th & August 28th “stories” is a full description of the event…trust Jeff Eats-this thing is going to be terrific! terrific! terrific!

Finally, you can buy tickets/other info at gridirongriller.com.

Hope to see you guys out there next Saturday, Saturday, Saturday.

Starbucks To Launch Delivery Service

* Starbucks To Launch Delivery Service.

Just read this story on aol.com/article/2014/10/31/starbucks-to-launch-delivery-service/20986822/…

Before -you read, I say it ain’t gonna work! Huge flop in the making!

There are so many reasons why it won’t work…for starters:

How do you keep the coffee piping hot during delivery? Or for that matter, ice-cold?
There are so many “variations” of coffees, tons of errors are bound to happen.
Literally, every home and office in America has a coffee machine-prepared coffee is one of the last items that Americans need to have delivered.

Your thoughts…

Starbucks To Launch Delivery System
October 31, 2014

Gone are the days of waiting in line, red-eyed, waiting on your drink from your favorite barista.

Starbucks announced on Thursday that it’s planning a new mobile and online service that will delivery coffee, tea and snacks to your home or office.

Starbucks chairman Howard Schultz told investors on a conference call, “Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily. That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.”

The new service will debut in Portland, Oregon next month and spread to other locations throughout the country next year.

With so many food delivery services like GrubHub and other on demand services like Uber, some wonder why Starbucks waited so long. Is Starbucks late to the delivery game? Let us know what you think on Twitter at @AOL.

The Bronx Wanderers

Posted on October 31st, 2014 · Music/Events/Other · 5 Comments »

the bronx

* The Bronx Wanderers.

Reprinted below is a December 11, 2008 story that-Jeff Eats did on 50s-80s Rock N Roll cover band- The Bronx Wanderers.

In a nutshell, in the ensuing years -The Bronx Wanderers became a gigantic “act”…

No fooling here, this 2008 Bronx “bar band”- now plays to SRO crowds at- casino showrooms, theaters, festivals, country clubs and resorts all over the United States…the band has even had a reality tv show crew chronicle its daily movements!

Over the years, I’ve seen The Bironx Wanderers a handful of times-and the band definitely has a knack of keeping things “fresh”…trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that- there are just so many times that one person (even an Oldies fan like Jeff Eats) can handle hearing Sherry and Big Girls Don’t Cry…what makes the group a beautiful thing is that- 5 of its 6 members are in their 20’s bringing a hip cool-style/look/sound/vibe/energy to the classic-hits. By the way, the group’s middle-aged lead singer- keeps the Oldies’ purists happy -with fabulous “dead on” Valli, Dion, Maestro, Jay Black, Diamond covers. If this all sounds confusing, you-may appreciate my “take” on the band-after you see-it live!

If you are a fan of 50s-80s Rock N Roll, you gotta catch The Bronx Wanderers…this band is about as good as it gets!

Check the band’s website thebronxwanderers.com, there a number of 2014-2015 Florida dates in the making.

***** The Bronx Wanderers *****
December
I recently saw an absolutely phenomenal… Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons/Dion & The Belmonts’ tribute band called The Bronx Wanderers. In addition to featuring the hit-songs of these two legendary groups, The Bronx Wanderers have an enormous playlist of rock ‘n roll/disco hits from the 1950’s-1970’s. If “seeing is believing,” check-out the group’s website at www.thebronxwanderers.com where you will find terrific audio/video of these guys in action.

Watching this 5-member band, was like having Frankie and Dion right in front of the crowd. Amazing covers. Just so you know, these guys are also no slouches when they play the hits of such bands/acts (a partial list, in no particular order) as Jbay & The Americans, Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, The Bee Gees, KC & The Sunshine Band, The Monkees, Neal Diamond, The Duprees, The Capris, The Beatles, The Classics, The Village People, Santo & Johnny, The Commodores and The Trammps.

The only “problem” with The Bronx Wanderers is that they are a New York based group. They very rarely get-down to South Florida… as most of their appearances are in New York and New Jersey.

Now for the good news…If you check The Bronx Wanderers’ “schedule”…you will find that the band has a number of South Florida dates in (now get this) January, 2010. I know it’s along way-off…but if you can swing it, you definitely want to see this group in action.

If you like the music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons–Dion & The Belmonts…you will absolutely love The Bronx Wanderers.

Golden Zucchini Pancakes

Posted on October 30th, 2014 · American Deals Fast Food · 2 Comments »

***** Golden Zucchini Pancakes.

In Jeff Eats’-never ending continuous quest to eat healthy (wink, wink, wink!), I recently came across Golden Zucchini Pancakes in Publix’s frozen food section. Call me lucky or what, but on discovery day, Publix was banging the below-box out 2 for-$5…normally, a box fetches $3.79. For the record, I bought 4 boxes. Now, if Farmer Brown drove his tractor 17 miles due east on Rte-457 how many 16oz glasses of Bosco flavored chocolate milk did his best friend Farmer Green drink in the rain at the Monroe County Fair in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?

Let’s wrap this up…pop these suckers (you do remember the zucchini pancakes, don’t you?) in the oven for like 20 minutes and you’re good to go- I’ve been eating mine as a side dish to- 2 broiled Hebrew National All Beef Hot Dogs in buns-topped with mustard and sauerkraut and I gotta tell you, eating healthy-couldn’t be simpler or more delicious. One other thought, I find that a 2-Liter Bottle of Coca Cola goes absolutely-perfect with the dogs and pancakes.

Try Golden Zucchini Pancakes- they are really good.

By the way, Farmer Brown’s best friend Farmer Green drank ZERO- 16oz glasses of Bosco flavored chocolate milk because she is allergic to chocolate but did drink 3 -16oz glasses of Orange Crush because no one at the Monroe County Fair was selling Diet Sunkist which just happens to be Farmer Green’s favorite soda next to Sierra Mist-but only in a can!

* Party City (partycity.com).

Trust me, Jeff Eats knows his crowd…with that in mind, I know that you guys already have your Halloween costumes in hand!

No insult intended, but if for some crazy reason you slipped up, please consider the “below” advertisement as a Public Service Announcement.

Before I run to Costco to pickup some last minute “bulk” trick or treat candy… have you guys been in a Party City, lately?

Yesterday, I checked out 2-of its Boca Raton stores and I gotta tell you- the joints had a terrific selection of reasonably priced- “loose penny” candy, party & paper goods, gift & houseware items, greeting cards (they are all a buck), novelty gifts & clothing, balloons- not to mention Halloween Costumes!

I gotta tell you, Jeff Eats was super impressed by this national chain’s-operation… the stores were well stocked, super clean, organized and had employees who seemed to really enjoy working there!

Finally…Keep it to yourself, I’m going as a Sexy Nurse this year!

***** Falafel Benny, 658 West Hallandale Beach Boulevard, Hallandale, Florida 33009, (954) 455-2118.

Got something real-good for you guys…Falafel Benny- fast food- order at/pickup at the counter kosher-Israeli-Middle Eastern joint.

A recent outing had Jeff Eats “trying”-shawarma pita, falafel pita, hummus, Israeli salad, babaganush and I gotta tell you everything was delicious.

At this stage of the game, I could tell you- that the food was so good -that I actually considered moving to Israel-to be around Falafel Benny “type” stuff-all of the time…but -my luck, Israel would put me in the IDF- so I deep sixed the idea.

Real simple! Falafel Benny is a huge-winner.

The joint’s menu is down below- by the way, Falafel Benny has been around for something like 3-years. – so “Grand Opening- New Management” printed on its menu- means ugotz!

* Susan Boyle.

Personally, Jeff Eats isn’t impressed…

I definitely get the “rags to riches” story and the “princess kissing the frog” or whatever that one-was…but I just don’t care for the voice-so forth and so on.

Now with that in mind, loads of folks apparently “hear” it differently than Jeff Eats does-because the lady is set for a Broward Center show on Monday Night- November 3, 2014 at 7:30pm (as well as November dates in Melbourne, Clearwater and Jacksonville).

If you are one of those folks, Gold Star Events (Goldstar.com) is running a deal offering Broward Center -$65 tickets for $32.50.

Like I said, I don’t get what all the hoopla is about…if on the other hand you do, you now know what to do!

By the way, there is a Jeff Eats’ story- 8/26/14 about Gold Star Events that will give you some background on this discount -ticket operation.
*****
From Goldstar’s site…

After performing for Simon Cowell, the Queen and the Pope, Susan Boyle sings for you. Instantly famous for her bravura performance on Britain’s Got Talent, Boyle achieved super-stardom when her debut album I Dreamed a Dream became the best-selling album in the history of the U.K. And the fairy tale has only continued for the humble Scot with a golden mezzo-soprano voice, who went on to sing for sold-out crowds around the world, release four more albums and receive two Grammy nods. Funny and charming in person, she now brings her formidable talent to the Broward Center’s Au-Rene Theater where she will be joined by the Florida Singing Sons Boychoir and the Girl Choir of South Florida. Experience Boyle live as she performs new album tracks and never-heard-before classics as part of her first headlining tour in the U.S.
