Didn’t our forefathers fight a war of independence so we wouldn’t have to deal with people like this?

The Chowfather

* The Chowfather.

Got a real-good South Florida food blog for you guys…TheChowfather.com.

Jeff Eats has been reading this cat’s blog for years…the guy makes some nice restaurant “calls” and I enjoy the chazarai (some of you guys may need Google here) he throws at his readers.

You know and I know, that this whole food blogging gig is just a gigantic variation on the “he said, she said” game…with that in mind, here’s another player who-just might point you in the right direction.

The guy also does some real nice photo-stuff with his stories. Like the two below…

To sum it all up, when I read the guy, I get hungry-so I’m thinking he must be doing something right.

Enjoy!

Shelia G’s Brownie Brittle Toffee Crunch

* Shelia G’s Brownie Brittle Toffee Crunch

Jeff Eats has absolutely no idea-as to how a package of Shelia G’s Brownie Brittle Toffee Crunch found its way into one of my kitchen’s cabinets. Best guess, Mrs. Jeff Eats bought “it” this morning at The Boys Farmers Market in Delray Beach, but I’m just guessing here.

I also- got no idea as to how much the 5oz bag runs- and I’m not sure if “this” is suppose to be a low calorie, or healthy, or-whatever item…

All I can tell you- is that this stuff is off the chart delicious…and based on the way it was “hidden” in the cabinet, Jeff Eats wasn’t suppose to be eating it!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, GET THIS SHELIA G’S BROWNIE BRITTLE TOFFEE CRUNCH, you’ll thank me!

By the way, in checking Shelia G’s website (browniebrittle.com)…it seems that in addition to Toffee Crunch, the Brownie Brittle also comes in-chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, salted caramel.

ALL DONUT DIET
By J.B. Smitts on January 2, 2011 MIAMI, FL –

Doctors at the University of Miami have discovered the best way to shed pounds in 2011 – eat donuts!

The All Donut Diet was created by nutritionists at the University of Miami. It was designed for people who want to lose weight but don’t want to give up the delicious taste of fried, fatty foods.

“With this diet, you won’t have to give up the foods you love just to lose weight,” said Dr. Raphael Moses, Deputy Chair of the Nutrition Department at the University of Miami. “You can still eat all the chocolate glazed, jelly-filled, sugar-coated donuts you want, without having to worry about things like exercise or healthy foods.”

The All Donut Diet is under the category of an “all you can eat” nutrition system, which means that a dieter can eat as many donuts as he wants, as long as he doesn’t eat any other food and drinks only water.

“Donuts are the perfect diet food,” said Dr. Moses. “They’re almost 65% air, which means there low in calories and won’t clog your arteries. They contain sugar, flour, and oil – all of which come from vegetables products.”

“They’re essentially a well-balanced meal in the shape of tasty, deep-fried circle,” added Dr. Moses.

Dieters on the All Donut Diet must follow a strict eating schedule for twelve weeks. During that time, they won’t consume anything but donuts and water. What kinds of donuts don’t matter, say scientists, as long as the dieter eats more two dozen a day.

“I lost 50 pounds in three months,” said Julio Ortega, a Miami-based graphic designer and one of the first people to experiment with the All Donut Diet. “It completely changed my life. I used to worry about having to eat all those nasty fruits and vegetables, but now I can eat donuts all day and shed pounds like crazy!”

Nutritionists across the country agree that the All Donut Diet might be one of the best new diet trends of 2011. Even some of the nation’s top celebrities are joining in on the craze.

“If you want to loose some flab in 2011, the All Donut Diet is the way to go,” said Jillian Michaels, the celebrity trainer on NBC’s The Biggest Loser. “Next season, we’re making sure all of our contestants follow it.”

Scientists at the University of Miami say that the All Donut Diet is not for people who want to slowly and steadily over the course of a year. It is only for people who want to lose drastic amounts of weight as quickly as possible.
If you’re going to try the All Donut Diet as part of your New Year’s Resolution, make sure you consult with a health professional before starting.

Sweet Dewey’s BBQ.

Hearing a tremendous amount of good- buzz about this new bbq-joint set to open in Boca Raton next week.

Jeff Eats visited the “site” a few days ago- talk about a “hole in the wall” – but if I do say so myself- it’s a really cool looking “hole in the wall.” From what I can tell, order at the counter- wall counter seating/handful of tables inside and outside- like I just said, real cool looking- stainless steel/black chalkboard decor. If the food “works”-gonna be a load of takeout action going-down!

Dwayne Hopper -the guy running the joint…has a big “rep”- but you and Jeff Eats both know-that the proof is in the pudding…we’ll soon see!

You can follow this one at…sweetdeweysbbq.com.

DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday- 12/7/14- Snyder’s Of Hanover Pretzel Rods)

Posted on December 7th, 2014 · Desserts Dish Of The Week Fast Food · 1 Comment »

***** DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday- 12/7/14).

One of Jeff Eats’ favorite menu items…

SNYDER’S OF HANOVER PRETZEL RODS
12oz. bag $3.49
Snyder’s Of Hanover (snydersofhanover.com)

This one- is a throw back to Jeff Eats’ youth…back in the 50s-60s I use to buy pretzel rods in the neighborhood candy store…2 cents a piece, 3 for a nickel. Back then, I loved eating them- with an ice-cold Coca Cola…today, I still love eating them with an ice-cold Coca Cola…I guess some things never change! I usually buy-mine at Publix. Not sure if “today’s” are the same brand I grew-up on, but they sure “taste” the same.

Grampa’s Bakery & Restaurant (Dania Beach)

grampas

***** Grampa’s Bakery & Restaurant, 17 Southwest 1st Street, Dania Beach, Florida 33004, (954) 923-2163.

Here’s another one of Jeff Eats’ favorite “out of sight, out of mind” joints…Grampa’s Bakery & Restaurant in Dania Beach.

Terrific “diner” food…terrific bakery.

I first told you guys about Grampa’s way- back on July 25, 2008…hadn’t really thought about the joint- until this past Thanksgiving when friends brought over Grampa’s apple, blueberry and cherry pies for the holiday. DELICIOUS!!

Nothing for nothing, Grampa’s has been around since 1957 (for you mathematicians out there, that’s 57 years)-so I’m thinking that it must be doing something right.

Check grampasbakery.com for menu/info.

Printed below is Jeff Eats’ 7/25/2008 story…

***** Grampa’s Bakery & Restaurant, 17 SW. 1st Street, Dania Beach, Florida 33004 (954) 923-2163.

Grampa’s has been around something like 50+ years. It is basically a local diner with a bakeshop attached. It has the requisite counter and booth seating…and it still looks like it did when it first opened.

Grampa’s is open Monday 6:30am-3pm…Tuesday-Saturday 6:30am-9pm…Sunday 8am-4pm.

Grampa’s is a terrific place for a “diner” breakfast, lunch and dinner…not to mention the incredible baked goods that are made in house.

Absolutely nothing fancy here…these old nostalgic diner-joints are right-up there with my favorite places to eat.
