***** Primanti Bros.

Here’s a Jeff Eats’- gem for you guys…Primanti Bros. with South Florida joints in Oakland Park, Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise.

Outrageously delicious- super reasonably priced…pizza, pastas, other Italian stuff, subs, wings, burgers.

Printed below is a story that- Jeff Eats did on Primanti Bros. wayback on 6/11/08.

You can check menu/prices/locations/other info- primantibros.com.

Jeff Eats LOVES this joint…trust me, it’s a huge winner!

***** Primanti Bros. 516 Oakland Park Boulevard, Oakland Park, Florida 33334, (954) 565-7100…&…901 North Fort Lauderdale Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304, (954) 565-0605.

You folks from Pittsburgh already know all-about Primanti Bros. which has something like 13 joints in Pittsburgh…Thus far there are 2 Primanti spots in South Florida.

Imagine the most laid-back neighborhood pizza joint in the whole world that not only makes great pizza, but great subs, Italian dishes, burgers, wings, and deli sandwiches…and you got Primanti Bros.

Over the past 3 years, I have eaten in the Oakland Park location at least 20 times, the last time being lunch yesterday. I am telling you, the food at this joint is absolutely incredible and dirt cheap. One of my favorite “items” is the peppers/onions/sausage/melted parmigiana sub that goes for a measely $5.95.

Just so you know, the Oakland Park joint is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner…The Fort Lauderdale joint is open 24-hours a day.

Great food. Great prices. Large portions. Great service. Tee shirt/shorts is the dress of the day.

Do yourself a big favor and check the Primanti website at www.primantibrothers.com for menu and assorted details.

This joint is an absolute homerun. Don’t miss it.

* “Best Lists” Are Silly!

Jeff Eats caught this advertisement in yesterday’s- Jewish Journal (floridajewishjournal.com.

Your luck, you hired this firm on December 31, 2011 at 11:59pm…

See how silly Best Lists are?

By the way, I know absolutely nothing about the law firm in the-advertisement…just showing you guys that – Best This & Best That- claims are nothing but subjective calls-and that all such- lists need to be taken with a grain of salt!

One final thought, whenever I’m in Delray Beach- I’m the best Personal Injury Attorney in Delray Beach!

Message for the Holidays!

* Message for the Holidays!

With the Holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving. As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a “social session” out with friends.

Well, two days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had several cocktails followed by some rather nice red wine.

Feeling jolly I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit.

That’s when I did something that I’ve never done before – I took a bus home.

Sure enough on the way home there was a police road block, but since it was a bus they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident.

This was a real surprise as I had never driven a bus before, I don’t know where I got it and now I have it parked outside, I really don’t know what to do with it.

***** Chef Tai’s, 4810 Northwest Boca Raton Boulevard, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 998-7887.

Christmas Day 2014 + 2 Reformed Jews formerly from Brooklyn = Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats giving the nod to Chef Tai’s this year.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, I give up!

Jeff Eats’ 11/30/2010 Chef Tai’s “review” is reprinted down below.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Chef Tai’s…it’s a “mom & pop” takeout only Chinese joint, located in a big old-huge crappy strip center and it makes delicious stuff.

Chef Tai’s is a Chinese takeout-only joint in Boca Raton…surprise-surprise (courtesy Gomer Pyle), it is located in a “bombed-out” shopping center- that you probably wouldn’t drive into in a million years. That said…Chef Tai’s makes some delicious stuff. I heard about Chef Tai’s about 5 months ago– have gotten food four times…haven’t been disappointed even once.

Delicious- egg rolls, fried dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, roast pork fried rice, shrimp with black bean sauce, pepper steak.

You can check menu/prices at www.bocamenus.com.

Based on Jeff Eat’s patent-pending “Brooklyn Chinese Food Taste Test”- I gotta give Chef Tai’s a top-notch rating. Trust me on this, the food is really good.

Chef Tai’s is open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm, closed on Sunday.

Son Jeff Eats just told Jeff Eats a story…

About a month ago on a real cold night, Son Jeff Eats had just picked up a to-go-order… pastrami on rye ($18.50)-chopped liver on rye ($14.95)-order of French fries ($5.95) from the legendary 2nd Ave Deli in NYC. As he left the restaurant, a homeless-man walked up to him looking- for spare change…Son Jeff Eats in reply, said- ” Here take this bag, its got French fries and a couple of sandwiches”…the homeless man asked “What kind of sandwiches” and Son Jeff Eats replied, “pastrami and chopped liver”…The homeless man said- “I don’t want them, I got to watch my cholesterol” and walked away.

You can check 2nd Ave Deli’s menu at secondavedeli.com.

***** Sorrisi, 5550 Northwest 40th Street, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073, (954) 935-6688.

The other night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate at- Sorrisi which is an Italain restaurant located in the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek. Just so you know, the bill was “comped” by the casino based on our black-jack play. So we ate on the arm, but not as Jeff Eats.

Short and to the point, Sorrisi is an “okay” restaurant…ordered dishes included-fried calamari ($9), Caesar salad ($7), penne alla vodka ($15), margherita pizza ($11-personal size–wood fired), chicken parmigiana ($18 with pasta side), spaghetti and meatballs ($17) meat lasagna ($19)-and like I just said, Sorrisi is an okay-joint…but, nothing really special is going on there.

So…

We get a “comp”…we use the “comp” at Sorrisi- no “comp” we don’t go-driving no 17 miles-one way (you can fill in your own number) to eat there… you’re already in the casino, no “comp”- you’re hungry, you weigh your eating options (just so you know -Jeff Eats is being overly dramatic here), maybe you do Sorrisi, maybe you do the casino’s deli, maybe you do the casino’s steak joint, maybe you do the casino’s outdoor tiki bar, maybe you do the casino’s buffet…..

To close it out for you-handsome restaurant, full bar, inside seating/inside patio seating, decent enough menu/food, casino (captured audience) prices- but nothing even close to approaching highway robbery, good service and you can wear your tee shirt/shorts/flip flop ensemble.

One last thought…Did you ever notice that when the word “BUT” is used in a sentence the next part of the sentence ain’t good news? For example…Hey Jeff Eats you look great, BUT your hair looks like crap. Or, how about- Hey Joey, you got the promotion, BUT your dog just got hit by a car and died.

Sorrisi is open Tuesday-Thursday 5pm-11pm, Sunday 3pm-10pm, closed on Monday.
