Posted on September 21st, 2015 · Boca Raton Deals Music/Events/Other · No Comments »

* The HynoLarryous Larry Silver.

Between you guys and Jeff Eats- I haven’t yet seen comedian/hypnotist Larry Silver in action- have caught some of his videos but live- not yet!

Long story short, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are gonna catch him at the Boca Black Box, 8221 Glades Road, Boca Raton (561) 483-9036 on Saturday Night, September 26th at 8pm.

The thinking here, if the guy wasn’t top-notch, national comedy-concert producer/Boca Black Box co-owner Randy Singer wouldn’t have booked Silver for a 2-night run Friday-Saturday (9/25-9/26) at his brand new 250 seat comedy/entertainment theater.

You can buy tickets at bocablackbox.com. By the way, if you enter Passcode: larrybocablackbox – you’ll save 50% off ticket prices.

One final note, Jeff Eats has been to the Boca Black Box, every seat works! Trust me, if you go to one of Silver’s shows- you won’t miss- even one minute of watching people you know or for that matter don’t know- running around the stage doing all kinds of crazy shit!

Latest Reviwe: 1/4/15

Red Cow is one of the best bbq joints that Jeff Eats has been to- down here in South Florida.

The joint makes a- Corn Bread that is absolutely off the chart. That skillet-portion easily feeds 4- people!

I’m gonna let you read my 1/4/15 “review” for the joint’s details…

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you -that Red Cow’s beef ribs and prime rib alone- are worth the drive from wherever you live or work!

***** Red Cow, 1025 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304, (954) 652-1524.

Last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate in a bbq-joint named Red Cow. Just this simple, some of the most delicious bbq-that I’ve eaten in a very long time.. By the way don’t quote me, but I’m thinking the joint has been open something like 18 months!

I’d be lying to you-if I actually tried to explain the bbq-“style” Red Cow uses…I know that I have kids who went to sleep away camp in Asheville, North Carolina… I’ve flown over Dallas at least 23 times and I recall having been to Atlanta, Georgia 7 times- but I’m just not qualified to tell you styles.

Anyway,

Like I said 2.3 seconds ago, some of the most delicious bbq-going! For sure, I can tell you that the stuff is definitely “smoked”- but not smoked where the smoke overwhelms everything. I can also tell you, that Red Cow “uses” dry rubs and 3- actually make that 4 types of bbq-sauce if you want to “customize” your bbq.

Let me tell you what Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple “tried”…but before I do, I just want you to know, that Red Cow’s portions are ENORMOUS- so when you go, figure on sharing “dishes”- you’ll “save” some cash and- just as important, get to try-all kinds of stuff.

The folks who own Red Cow know what they are doing, they have a menu that has a handful of appetizers and salads, a list of bbq entrees that literally allows you to mix and match what shows up, a load of sandwiches, sides and desserts. Before Jeff Eats gets to the “eating”…I wanted to mention that our waiter Garrett was amazing-good. He knew the menu cold, made great recommendations and made sure that the beer and soda glasses were never empty.

Last night our party of 4- had…iron skillet corn bread, chopped salad, beef ribs, baby back pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, prime rib, rotisserie chicken, corn fritters, corn on the cob, cowboy mashed potatoes, jalapeno cheddar sausages, fried brussel sprouts, coleslaw, peanut butter/white chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream. Hey! I already told you that the portions were enormous and the joint lets you customize what shows up on your plate. Just so you don’t get scared- or nothing- the most expensive item on the menu the- Eat More Meat Combo runs 23 bucks and I’m telling you, it can easily feed 3 people (unless one of the 3 is my friend Bobby G. who clocks in around 287, wears a size 52 suit and claims to have some kinda gland problem).

Now, nothing for nothing- I tried everything…and of course- some stuff was better than some other stuff! I will tell you, that the chopped salad (shallot Dijon vinaigrette), beef brisket, prime rib, wagyu beef ribs, cowboy mashed potato and chicken were absolute dynamite and I do mean dynamite. Not to be too repetitive, everything we had was delicious, but the stuff I just mentioned- really caught my attention.

At this stage of the game you can check redcowftl.com for menu/prices/info.

Finally, real cool casual décor, full liquor bar, large tv screens, you can wear shorts/tee shirts/flip flops and the odds say-you’ll leave with a bag full of leftovers.

Red Cow is a winner. You definitely got to try this joint!

Red Cow is open Monday-Saturday 11:30am-10pm, Sunday for brunch 9:30am-1:30pm and then 1:30pm-9pm.

September 18th National Cheeseburger Day!

Posted on September 19th, 2015 · American Boca Raton · No Comments »

This article first appeared on September 18th…quick update, last night- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “tried” the complimentary Tanzy Burger- Just between you guys and me, I’m thinking for my taste- that I would have preferred the burger better- if it was simply topped with American cheese, bacon and sautéed onions- but that’s just me! On the other hand, Mrs. Jeff Eats’ tastebuds which are far more eclectic than mine, thought that the Tanzy Burger was dynamite and that she would definitely order it again!

* September 18th National Cheeseburger Day!

Tanzy Restaurant, 301 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, (561) 922-6699, “invited” Jeff Eats to “try” this burger!

Chow time- 7:15pm

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, every -day is sorta like National Cheeseburger Day to me- but I’m gonna play along with Tanzy anyway!

I’ll let you know what I thought- comp or no comp- tomorrow!

By the way, if you want more info on Tanzy Restaurant- Jeff Eats got a 6/11/15 “review.”

tanzee

Tanzy Restaurant’s bun-stuffing good burger, the Tanzy Burger, is a testament to getting all the details exactly right. It sounds simple: a wood grilled 10 ounce Angus patty with apple-wood smoked bacon, smoked Gouda, beefsteak tomato, and arugula on toasted rosemary focaccia. But like so many simple things, you’ve got to get it exactly right; the creamy Gouda cheese is melted so that there is a taste in every bite, the bacon is crisped to perfection, the arugula is peppery and the bun is buttery and herbaceous.

Available for both lunch and weekend brunch, this absurdly juicy burger is the best beefy bite around.

Tanzy Restaurant is open Monday-Thursday 11:30am-10pm, Friday 11:30am-11pm, Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 11am-10pm.

from bocablackbox.com

In Brooklyn there were Jews, Italians, Irish, Blacks and Puerto Ricans. Steve wanted to be an Italian. Italian guys were cool, drove nice cars and had the most beautiful girls. Steve was Jewish, he had a stamp collection. After graduating college, Steve took his accounting diploma, his stamp collection, and his two month supply of Benadryl and moved back to Brooklyn to do what he loved most-make people laugh.

Marshall is a gifted writer, accomplished director, talented actor and a brilliant standup comedian. Come spend an evening with Comedian Steve Marshall as he shares his heartfelt (but extremely humorous) stories about sex, ethnicity and being the only Jew in his family. Steve realized the only way to get the real me out – “Don’t Behave”

2015 Marketplace Music Fest (Delray Marketplace Amphitheater- Delray Beach)

Posted on September 16th, 2015 · Delray Beach Music/Events/Other · 1 Comment »

* 2015 Marketplace Music Fest.

The Delray Marketplace (www.delraymarket.com, 9025 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida 33446)- takes another “shot” at drawing crowds- to its ill-conceived power shopping center.

Down-below, the Delray Marketplace’s- October, 2015- November, 2015 & December, 2015- FREE CONCERT SERIES LINEUPS!

If only “someone”- during the center’s planning stage (2010-2012)- had stopped and figured out a DECENT TENANT MIX, the Delray Marketplace wouldn’t be scrambling to draw “visitors” on Thursday Nights in October-November-December. That said, “someone” didn’t- so you guys get to see some really good bands- for FREE! To be perfectly honest with you guys, to this very day Jeff Eats still can’t figure-out how the Delray Marketplace actually thought that retailers such as Jos. A. Bank, Chico’s, GNC and Yankee Candle would draw people to an outdoor center! Oh well, not my money!

Its loss, your gain! Enjoy the bands!

Jeff Eats is thinking- Milwaukee’s water definitely had something to do with this!

By the way, I know that the guy was diagnosed with MS in 1984, but- I’ll still go with the water theory!

* Win 2-Tickets To: Battle of the Boros VII at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts.

Real simple game…in the Comment-section (1 per day), be the fourth person to tell me the name of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer in the picture with Jeff Eats (for you “slow” guys-looking at the picture, Jeff Eats is the guy on the right). To help you out here, the guy currently lives in Boca Raton, his wife’s name is Sue and one of his biggest hit records was The Wanderer!

I’m thinking that this is a no- brainer! But we’ll see!

* Battle of the Boros VII.

Jeff Eats wouldn’t exactly call this “concert” a battle- maybe a skirmish!

No-Johnny Maestro, No-Frankie Lymon, No-Carl Gardner, No-Ben E. King, No-Richard Blandon, Yes-Charlie Thomas, Yes-Herman Santiago, Yes-Jimmy Merchant, Yes-Cleveland Still! When you think of the 60’s Yankees-you think Maris, Mantle, Berra, Ford- not Boyer, Lopez. Howard and Turley…Capice!

That said, Jeff Eats has seen all of the “acts” on the bill-and they all-put on a good show!

As I’ve said many times before, you guys aren’t getting any younger, nor are the “oldies” singers of the 50s-60s-70s…so if you “like” this type of music- What are you waiting for? Buy tickets-and Go!
