Got a good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you guys, Ciro’s Italian Restaurant Deli & Pizzeria in Davie.

Unless you were born under a turnip truck, or in South Dakota- you know exactly what Ciro’s menu is all-about…appetizers, pizzas, pastas, calzones, subs/sandwiches, salads, entrees (soup or salad, side of pasta, garlic rolls), desserts! For those of you in need of a primer- menu/prices/info cirositaliandeli.com.

The other day, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple did dinner…fried calamari ($8.95), mozzarella caprese salad ($8.95), large cheese pizza (16″-$12.25), veal parmigiana sub ($8.95), philly cheese steak sub ($8.95), meat lasagna ($11.95), shrimp scampi ($16.95), garlic rolls, pasta fagioli and I gotta tell, everything was right on the money!

Not to play Jimmy Olsen or nothing, but I’m thinking that Ciro’s which has been around for something like 30 years- just might know what it’s doing! Then again, I got a friend- Louie D. aged-66 who is a freaking but charming moron- when it comes to just about everything!

Anyway,

Like I said 2.7 seconds ago, four of us ate dinner- and unless my hearing is going- I didn’t catch- even one single bitch about the food, service or the prices! Now, just so we are on the same page, absolutely positively nothing fancy going on here, “no” décor unless a couple of tv sets does-it for you and of course, if you wear anything more that a tee shirt/shorts/sneakers-flip flops’ ensemble you’re gonna be over-dressed!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, if you’re into “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joints, tons of good food, Coca Cola refills up the wazoo, pleasant service, doggie bags and reasonable prices- you will definitely enjoy this joint- I know that I did, as did Mrs.Jeff Eats and “her” friends!

* Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes.

Jeff Eats is thinking that most of you guys have never heard of Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes. If I’m wrong on this, Je suis désolé.

Real simple tale, fast food/order at-pickup at the counter/burger/fries/shake chain. When you check mooyah.com you guys are gonna find that for right now- Mooyah has no Florida joints- a gazillion in Texas and tons in a bunch of other states.

Jeff Eats has eaten in Mooyah’s West Hartford, Connecticut joint and I am telling you, that its burgers, fries and shakes are off the chart good!

image

Just wanted to let you guys know that Mooyah has 2 Miami locations in the works… 13725 Southwest 152nd Street and 8750 Northwest 21st Terrace- best guess-after visiting both sites (if the respective City Building Departments don’t bust Mooyah’s franchisee’s balls- too much)- the joints should open sometime during the next 4 months…

When Mooyah Burgers, Fries Shakes opens- you gotta try its stuff!

***** la Camaronera Seafood Joint and Fish Market, 1952 West Flagler Street, Miami, Florida 33135, (305) 642-3322.

Got an absolutely terrific super-casual Cuban seafood restaurant/fish market for you guys, la Camaronera Seafood Joint and Fish Market-in Miami.

fishy13

You got 4-options at La Camaronera- order from its signboard menu/eat standing at the counter, eat at a table with wait-service, take prepared food to go, or buy fish/seafood in the market-and make it at home (or wherever you cook)!- Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, I don’t care-how good of a cook you think you are, your food in a million years-ain’t gonna taste as good as the stuff that la Camaronera pumps out- unless you’re something like a Bobby Flay- and Jeff Eats even has doubts on that!

Just a heads up, if you don’t eat fish/seafood- you’re gonna be in big trouble at la Camaronera…maybe a salad, maybe a dessert, maybe a potato- but like I said 1-second ago, you’re in trouble!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently did a lunch there- we sat at a table…fried shrimp, shrimp tacos, conch fritters, fried calamari, fried mahi mahi sandwich. Dynamite food!

* Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band.

If you wanna see one of Florida’s- best 50’s-70’s Rock N Roll cover bands- then you go-see Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band scheduled to play the Pavilion Grille in Boca Raton on Saturday, August 22nd starting at 8pm.

No bs- here, Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band plays at a whole ‘nother level- than the “guys” you usually catch at South Florida’s bars/clubs/festivals/casinos/events!

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, Viva Classic Rock & Roll Band drew so many fans in its initial 7/11/15 Pavilion Grille appearance-that the joint’s management booked the band for dates well into 2016. The band is a huge crowd pleaser and Jeff Eats is thinking- that the Pavilion Grille must have made “molti soldi” with Viva!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are gonna be there!

If you wanna laugh your ass off, go see Smirnoff, Roman and Norris in action!

The Jew, The Old Jew, and The Guy from Jersey (An Evening of Clean Stand-Up Comedy)
at: The Lyric Theatre
Lyric Presentations

Three of the greatest comedic minds come together for a night of laughs at The Lyric Theatre this season. Featuring Bruce Smirnoff, Freddie Roman, and Jeff Norris as The Jew, the Old Jew, and the Guy from Jersey, this show is filled with some of the best comedic talent America has to offer. But don’t tell them that! A trio of hilarity, Smirnoff, Roman, and Norris will have you laughing your tuchus off all the way back to Newark.

Featuring performers with nearly a century of combined comedy experience, The Jew, the Old Jew, and the Guy from Jersey is bound to leave you in stitches. Comedian Freddie Roman has been performing comedy on stage since he was a teenager in the Catskills. The comedic legend studied acting at NYU, and began touring various stock theaters in the northeast shortly afterwards. The sharp-witted comedian impressed the late Totie Fields one night when the comedian was in the audience for a show, and was invited to join Fields on her national tour. This shot Roman into the comedy scene, and soon he had made a name for himself as one of the greatest working comics. Now, after over fifty years in the entertainment industry, Freddie Roman has earned his place in the history books. The Dean of the New York Friars Club, the oldest and most influential brotherhood in show business, Roman has starred in Comedy Central television specials, major motion pictures, and performed on some of the biggest stages in the country. Roman created and stars in the successful Catskills on Broadway, which is a tribute to the upstate New York region celebrated for its revolutionary format never before seen on Broadway.

Joining Freddie Roman in The Jew, The Old Jew, and the Guy from Jersey is comedian Jeff Norris. Norris, known for his ability to emulate a variety of voices, has performed at sold-out venues across the country, including The Riviera in Las Vegas and Dangerfield’s in New York City. Norris has also been featured in HBO’s series Oz and Boardwalk Empire as well as appearing in the feature films My Super Ex Girlfriend and Anger Management starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. Norris has also enjoyed success as a headliner on the Royal Caribbean cruise lines.

And completing the incredible comedic trio is Bruce Smirnoff. Exploring his role in show business at the age of 13, Smirnoff first attempted an acrobatic stunt he saw on the Ed Sullivan Show. The enthusiastic teenager quickly realized gymnastics were not his strength and, instead, set his feet firmly on the comedy stage. Bruce Smirnoff began performing in Boston in the late 1970s during the city’s comedic boom. Gaining increased attention for his work, Smirnoff moved to Los Angeles where he spent the next 22 years. In 1998, the comedian created the critically acclaimed, award-winning one-man show Other Than My Health, I have Nothing. And Today, I Don’t Feel so Good! The show ran for two years in Los Angeles, and then traveled throughout North America with stops in Toronto, Cleveland, and New York City. Over his career, the comedian has made many national television appearances and has opened for stars including Julio Iglesias, Gregory Hines, and the Righteous Brothers.

These three comedic geniuses will come together live on The Lyric stage this season. Each performer brings a unique perspective to the art of comedy, and as a trio, they’ll have you crying with laughter as they take you through the ups and downs, the good and bad, the trials and tribulations of The Jew, the Old Jew, and the Guy from Jersey.

A recent late night outing- had Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats doing…a couple slices, chicken parm sub, meatball parm sub, zeppoli and I gotta tell you- real good stuff!

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, I loved Joe’s Old School Pizza. The food was solid and- on a nice day/evening that outdoor patio-is a great place to just eat and take it easy! Thankfully, this joint which in a former-life was an auto-body shop, doesn’t know the words fancy or drama!

from grovetoberfest.com
Back in 2010, craft beer was just getting noticed in South Florida. But the team at Grovetoberfest was already jumping on the craft beer train. Since that time we have seen the craft scene in Miami explode and our festival has become the largest craft beer festival in all of Florida (by number of people AND number of beers). If you’ve been, don’t miss the tradition. If you’ve never been, well you are missing out on a true experience. A craft beer experience that marries the love of craft beer and an incredible social atmosphere.
Please note that since last year, we have been mandated to cap attendance at the park to 6500 people. So please don’t be left out and get your tickets now. There is absolutely nothing we can do once we hit the 6500 person mark.

***** Fish Shack, 2862 Northeast 17th Avenue, Pompano Beach, Florida 33064, (954) 586-4105.

Jeff Eats recently “discovered” an absolutely amazing “mom & pop” fish joint…Fish Shack in Pompano Beach.

Wanna talk hole-in-the-wall? The joint is located in a miniscule bombed-out strip center…maybe table seating for 20 and 5 at the bar. Fish Shack’s menu is loaded with fish-stuff…that said, it has hamburgers, chicken breast sandwiches, wraps, salads and chicken wings for the non-fish eaters that may-be in your party. Outrageously delicious reasonably priced…blackened red snapper–grilled yellow fin tuna–conch fritters–fried oysters–cheeseburger–shrimp burger.

Every so often Jeff Eats comes across an absolute HOMERUN…Fish Shack is a GRAND SLAM!

Like I said a few seconds ago…hole in the wall, fabulous food.

I highly recommend that you try Fish Shack. The bet here–you won’t be disappointed.

Fish Shack is open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm, closed on Sunday.
