Pizzacraft Artisian Pizzeria (Fort Lauderdale)

Posted on November 23rd, 2015 · Fort Lauderdale Italian Pizza · 6 Comments »

Pizzacraft Artisian Pizzeria, 330 SOuthwest 2nd, Fort Lauderdale, FLorida 33312, (954) 616-8028.

There is an old Polish saying or maybe it’s an old Latvian saying…”If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything.”

With the above in mind, yesterday Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats ate lunch at Pizzacraft Artisian Pizzeria- basic cheese pizza pie, meatball sub, ricotta appetizer and…since I am neither Polish nor Latvian, lousy way-overpriced crap!- the $18 6-slice pizza was under-cooked (the cheese was room temperature) and the dough was topped with a puddle (trust Jeff Eats, “puddle” is being kind) of “who knows what reddish/yellow liquid”- the $14 meatball sub tasted like/and had the same consistency as the Sloppy Joes that P.S. 179’s cafeteria use to serve for lunch in 1957 (trust Jeff Eats, in 1957 nobody lined-up for seconds on those Sloppy Joes) and the $9 ricotta appetizer had no taste-whatsoever!

To be perfectly honest with you, after paying the $56- bill (tax and tip included) I felt like an absolute schmuck for having chosen this joint to eat at. What a freaking rip-off!

Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that food “reviewing” is a subjective game…what I may like, you on the other hand may hate -and vice versa…with that in mind, printed down below is Pizzacraft’s description of itself…

Trust Jeff Eats, lousy way-overpriced crap!

You regular Jeff Eats’ readers know (or should know) by now, that I am a huge fan of the “mom & pop” neighborhood diner-concept!-that being, a great place to eat a solid breakfast/lunch/dinner for relatively cheap money, with a super friendly wait-staff! Throw in counter seating where Jeff Eats can discuss the woes of the world and the Lemon Tree Cafe is definitely right up my alley!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, if you are an easy going cat looking to just “enjoy”- then you give Lemon Tree Cafe in Coconut Creek a shot.

Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys, Dion & The Belmonts, Jay & The Americans and plenty of “Rat Pack” tunes with their own twist. With their three different and distinct vocal styles, each sings solo, duet and then accent it with some very smooth three-part harmonies.

If someone handed you a bunch of grapes and said, “Here’s a bunch of grapes, I’m not sure, but a couple of the grapes may be poisonous”- would you eat any of the grapes?

Christmas Day 2014 + 2 Reformed Jews formerly from Brooklyn = Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats giving the nod to Chef Tai’s this year.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, I give up!

Jeff Eats’ 11/30/2010 Chef Tai’s “review” is reprinted down below.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Chef Tai’s…it’s a “mom & pop” takeout only Chinese joint, located in a big old-huge crappy strip center and it makes delicious stuff.

Chef Tai’s is a Chinese takeout-only joint in Boca Raton…surprise-surprise (courtesy Gomer Pyle), it is located in a “bombed-out” shopping center- that you probably wouldn’t drive into in a million years. That said…Chef Tai’s makes some delicious stuff. I heard about Chef Tai’s about 5 months ago– have gotten food four times…haven’t been disappointed even once.

Delicious- egg rolls, fried dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, roast pork fried rice, shrimp with black bean sauce, pepper steak.

You can check menu/prices at www.bocamenus.com.

Based on Jeff Eat’s patent-pending “Brooklyn Chinese Food Taste Test”- I gotta give Chef Tai’s a top-notch rating. Trust me on this, the food is really good.

Chef Tai’s is open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm, closed on Sunday

***** Gary Woo Express, 9874 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33434, (561) 483-8889.

Got an absolutely terrific Chinese-takeout joint for you…Gary Woo Express in Boca Raton.

Just so you know, Jeff Eats originally “reviewed” this joint on August 19, 2009…suffice it to say, I loved its food back in 2009. Anyway, about 8 months ago new owners took over and to their credit, the food they are “banging-out” is even better than the original stuff. Trust me on this one, Gary Woo Express is right up there with the best Chinese restaurants that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida.

When you check menu/prices at www.garywooexpress.com- in addition to loads of Chinese stuff you will find a huge Japanese menu. For the record, Jeff Eats, didn’t try any of the Japanese items, but if the Japanese food is as good as the Chinese stuff was—Gary Woo Express will be a joint where you can get both-delicious Chinese and Japanese takeout. Just so you know, Gary Woo Express has a couple of tables inside and a handful outside—but this joint is basically a takeout.

Applying Jeff Eats’ 1950’s Brooklyn Jewish Taste Test…sampled items included— won ton soup, tomato egg drop soup, egg rolls, pan fried pork dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, sweet & sour pork, pepper steak, shrimp in lobster sauce, chicken lo mein, roast pork fried rice. The result…Gary Woo Express is one of the best Chinese-takeoout joints that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida. No kidding around, every item “tried” was delicious. To be perfectly honest with you, Jeff Eats’ original plan was to put the “dishes” in some sort of pecking order- but they were all dynamite–so I’ didn’t bother. For you wise-guys out there, No!–Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats didn’t eat “all” that food all by ourselves in one sitting…The fact of the matter, the taste test was conducted in 2-parts…some of the food was picked-up on a Thursday night and some was picked up on Saturday night—so there!

gary-woo-asian-bistro

If I got one bitch here, I found the prices a drop- on the high side. No big deal–no second job needed…but the prices were definitely higher than the local competition.

Before I run…if you decide to try Gary Woo Express–when you get to the joint, you’ll find a “menu-rack” outside the front door. The takeout menus in the rack–have coupons and you can use them “right away”— Now that I’m thinking, the coupon that I used saved me 10% off my entire order. The point of all this yapping—use the coupons to off-set the higher-prices I detected.

Gary Woo Express was a “huge” find.

I am telling you, this joint is right up there with best of breed.

Gary Woo Express is open Monday-Friday 11am-10pm and Saturday-Sunday 2pm-10pm.
