DaVinci’s of Boca (Boca Raton)

***** DaVinci’s of Boca, 6000 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 362-8466.

First things first…

DaVinci’s of Boca is located in Town Center of Boca Raton- which is a regional mall. Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, this Italian joint couldn’t be in a worse location- no visibility from any road, no foot traffic to speak of…whatever real estate agent/mall representative “convinced”- or – “allowed” Davinci’s owners to open in this spot, should be ashamed of his/or herself and seriously consider taking a business ethics course at FAU!

Anyway,

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently “did” dinner-and I gotta tell you that DaVinci’s which opened about a-year ago is a great looking “semi”- upscale Italian restaurant with both indoor/outdoor patio seating. In addition, the joint has a full bar area, private party room! On the food front- the calamari fritti, lasagna bolognese, chicken parmigiana, zuppa di pesce which we ordered, were real good!- The wait service was as professional/pleasant as could be. Just so there is no misunderstanding, DaVinci’s of Boca isn’t a “mom & pop” red sauce joint (soup or salad, garlic rolls, entrée with pasta side $14.99)- its prices aren’t bargain basement, but trust Jeff Eats- I’m thinking that-you won’t need a second job to pay the bill!…Oh! by the way, though DaVinci’s of Boca is semi-upscale, your tee shirt/shorts/flip flops ensemble works!

da3

Let me wrap this up for you guys, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats-really enjoyed the food/service. The real story here- as crazy as it may seem…it pisses me off no end-when I see restaurant owners who obviously went for some heavy cash-to build a joint- who do a real nice job in serving up solid food/service- get “hoodwinked” into locations that stink!

Give DaVinci’s of Boca a shot…

The joint is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday noon-10pm.

You can check menu/prices at davinciofboca.com.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently ‘did” breakfast and the joint absolutely killed it! No bs-here, both the western and meat (pig pen) omelettes- we had, were outrageously delicious! Between you guys and Jeff Eats, it is amazing as to what-delicious food can be cooked-up on a flat-top grill!

Country Feed Store Café is a winner. The joint bakes its own bread- and from the way plates “come-out”- to the super pleasant staff…you easily sense that the folks who own Country Feed Store Cafe are looking to do the right thing!

Jeff Eats is thinking- this is a good deal!

Hey! Trust me, Jeff Eats knows that Carrabba’s is a big national chain…chain or no chain, I really enjoy the joint’s food so- if you got something against Carrabba’s because it’s a chain- and since Jeff Eats is my blog- “I’m going to take my ball and go home.”

Use the coupon, don’t use the coupon…your call! By the way, just in case you didn’t know- Carrabba’s got “stores” up the whazoo in Florida!

***** Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 6909 SW 18th Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33433 (561) 544-8838.

Unless you have been living under a stone, you know that Carrabba’s Italian Grill is a national-chain with locations all over the United States. Check Carrabba’s website at www.carrabbas.com for menu/pricing/locations…Trust me on this, if you live in South Florida, there is a Carrabba’s joint close to where you live or work. For those that like to know their facts, Carrabba’s is owned by the same parent-company which owns/operates Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill and Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Last week I ate dinner at the Carrabba’s Boca Raton location. This particular restaurant has indoor/patio seating…an open kitchen…full bar area…and is done-up in dark woods…very attractive looking joint, yet tee shirt/shorts fit in beautifully here.

The menu has six categories…Antipasti, Zuppe & Insalte, Brick-Oven Pizza, Wood-Burning Grill, Pasta Specialties and Family Classics. You will definitely find something to eat in this joint.

Last week I “sampled”…fried zucchini, crab cakes, minestrone soup, chicken marsala, griilled salmon, linguine with claims, chicken parmigiana and lasagna…don’t be a wiseguy…I know what you are thinking…there were 3 of us.

Anway…I have to tell you that the food and service were very-very good. I would rate Carrabba’s right up there with some of my favorite neighborhood “mom and pop” red sauce joints. As for price…no more expensive than what the local joints get.

Like I said before, the Boca Raton location has indoor/outdoor patio seating…this location must be doing something very right, as both areas had people waiting for tables…the nice thing about the Boca joint is that the outdoor patio overlooks a beautiful man-made-lake and on the evening that I was there, a 2-man combo was playing some very pleasant background music…Now, “your” Carrabba’s may not be set-up like this…but the menu/service are probably identical to what my party had.

Carrabba’s is open Monday-Saturday for dinner…Sunday for lunch-dinner.

Give Carrabba’s a try.

***** Mizner Pizzeria, 134 Northeast 2nd Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, (561) 826-7123.

Got a good, “mom & pop- red sauce” Italian joint for you guys, Mizner Pizzeria in Boca Raton.

Wanna talk “hole in the wall”?- talk Mizner Pizzeria! Maybe 6 tables inside/1 table outside/order at-pickup at the counter!

AboutUs

For you guys who fancy yourselves Amerigo Vespuccis, Mizner Pizzeria which opened about 2 months ago- is located in…”El-Crapo” strip center-next door to the United States Post Office – across from Mizner Park in Boca Raton. Don’t know what’s in the water, but over the past 5 years, 4 other pizza joints have come-and-gone in the exact same spot! So here’s wishing Mizner Pizzeria good luck!

Anyway,

Last Wednesday night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did a “takeout”…large cheese pizza ($8 on Wednesdays-normally $13.95), chicken parmigiana sub ($9.95), Greek salad ($7.95), sausage & peppers sub ($9.95) and I gotta tell you that everything was A-OK! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, the pizza which was NY Style-thin crust//sweet sauce could of- handled another minute or two in the oven-not quite crispy enough for Jeff Eats- but nothing worth filing a lawsuit over (don’t forget Jeff Eats is a graduate of The Brooklyn Law School- Class of ’73). The subs were nice hard crust/soft inside bread situations- that were loaded with real good fillings!

You can checkout Mizner Pizzeria’s menu which has the full boat of expected “red sauce joint” appetizers, salads, pizzas, pastas, calzones, strombolis, subs, meat/chicken entrees, desserts at miznerpizzeria.com.

Let me wrap this one up with a bow-for you guys…

Mizner Pizzeria makes some real good stuff. You can definitely eat-in, but don’t be planning no- big graduation or bar mitzvah parties- because like I said before “hole in the wall.”

Mizner Pizzeria is open Monday-Thursday 11am – 9:0pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm, Sunday 2pm-8pm.

Finally, Jeff Eats found the below flyer- on Mizner Pizzeria’s- Facebook page….

Between you guys and Jeff Eats- if I knew for sure that this joint was “going to make it”- Party City has some nice Postmen costumes for Halloween! Just a thought!
