Christmas Day 2014 + 2 Reformed Jews formerly from Brooklyn = Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats giving the nod to Chef Tai’s this year.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, I give up!
Jeff Eats’ 11/30/2010 Chef Tai’s “review” is reprinted down below.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Chef Tai’s…it’s a “mom & pop” takeout only Chinese joint, located in a big old-huge crappy strip center and it makes delicious stuff.

Chef Tai’s is a Chinese takeout-only joint in Boca Raton…surprise-surprise (courtesy Gomer Pyle), it is located in a “bombed-out” shopping center- that you probably wouldn’t drive into in a million years. That said…Chef Tai’s makes some delicious stuff. I heard about Chef Tai’s about 5 months ago– have gotten food four times…haven’t been disappointed even once.
Delicious- egg rolls, fried dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, roast pork fried rice, shrimp with black bean sauce, pepper steak.
You can check menu/prices at www.bocamenus.com.
Based on Jeff Eat’s patent-pending “Brooklyn Chinese Food Taste Test”- I gotta give Chef Tai’s a top-notch rating. Trust me on this, the food is really good.
Chef Tai’s is open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm, closed on Sunday

4 Ever ’50s (Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park- Boca Raton)
Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park ( 300 S. Military Trail Boca Raton, FL 33486 )
The entertaining quartet known as The 4 Guyz travels back through time to the happy days of the ’50s and ’60s, where four-part vocal harmonies ruled the pop charts and bobby soxers and greasers roamed the malt shops. A lighthearted, interactive musical revue that has been running for more than 10 years in the Midwest and now makes its South Florida debut, 4 Ever ’50s pays tribute to the doo-wop days with comic patter and a lineup of hit songs. You’ll hear all the top hits, from upbeat favorites like “Duke of Earl,” “Rock Around the Clock” and “At the Hop” to romantic ballads, including “Blue Moon,” “Sixteen Candles” and more.

***** Gary Woo Express, 9874 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33434, (561) 483-8889.
Got an absolutely terrific Chinese-takeout joint for you…Gary Woo Express in Boca Raton.
Just so you know, Jeff Eats originally “reviewed” this joint on August 19, 2009…suffice it to say, I loved its food back in 2009. Anyway, about 8 months ago new owners took over and to their credit, the food they are “banging-out” is even better than the original stuff. Trust me on this one, Gary Woo Express is right up there with the best Chinese restaurants that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida.
When you check menu/prices at www.garywooexpress.com- in addition to loads of Chinese stuff you will find a huge Japanese menu. For the record, Jeff Eats, didn’t try any of the Japanese items, but if the Japanese food is as good as the Chinese stuff was—Gary Woo Express will be a joint where you can get both-delicious Chinese and Japanese takeout. Just so you know, Gary Woo Express has a couple of tables inside and a handful outside—but this joint is basically a takeout.
Applying Jeff Eats’ 1950’s Brooklyn Jewish Taste Test…sampled items included— won ton soup, tomato egg drop soup, egg rolls, pan fried pork dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, sweet & sour pork, pepper steak, shrimp in lobster sauce, chicken lo mein, roast pork fried rice. The result…Gary Woo Express is one of the best Chinese-takeoout joints that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida. No kidding around, every item “tried” was delicious. To be perfectly honest with you, Jeff Eats’ original plan was to put the “dishes” in some sort of pecking order- but they were all dynamite–so I’ didn’t bother. For you wise-guys out there, No!–Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats didn’t eat “all” that food all by ourselves in one sitting…The fact of the matter, the taste test was conducted in 2-parts…some of the food was picked-up on a Thursday night and some was picked up on Saturday night—so there!
If I got one bitch here, I found the prices a drop- on the high side. No big deal–no second job needed…but the prices were definitely higher than the local competition.
Before I run…if you decide to try Gary Woo Express–when you get to the joint, you’ll find a “menu-rack” outside the front door. The takeout menus in the rack–have coupons and you can use them “right away”— Now that I’m thinking, the coupon that I used saved me 10% off my entire order. The point of all this yapping—use the coupons to off-set the higher-prices I detected.
Gary Woo Express was a “huge” find.
I am telling you, this joint is right up there with best of breed.
Gary Woo Express is open Monday-Friday 11am-10pm and Saturday-Sunday 2pm-10pm.

Comedian Bobby Collins has an ability to truthfully translate the human condition. Through precise physical timing and impeccable audience insight, he has honed his talents while performing from hole in the wall clubs to sold out theaters. His true dedication to his craft is what keeps his vibrant shows consistently sold out.
A native New Yorker, Collins possesses a confidence and genuine everyman likeability that can only be earned. He knows what it’s like to work a day job, in order to pursue a dream. He’s flipped his share of burgers, as well as signing on as a substitute high school history teacher, to pay the bills – all the while performing in comedy clubs at night.
Realizing his dream has given Bobby the opportunity to tour with titans of entertainment like Frank Sinatra, Cher, Julio Iglesias and Dolly Parton. As a professional stand-up comedian, he’s worked alongside friends, Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Drew Carey, as well as many others. Rosie O’Donnell specifically requested that Bobby take over as host for Stand-Up Spotlight. Collins is widely regarded as a “comic’s comic.”
Santino’s Pizza-Pasta (Pembroke Pines)
***** Santino’s Pizza-Pasta, 18267 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33029, (954) 441-0080.
Santino’s Pizza-Pasta is an “out of sight, out mind” mom & pop-red sauce Italian joint.
Jeff Eats first told you guys about Santino’s on December 13, 2013-and the truth be told, I hadn’t been back- until last night.
Long story short…
Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did dinner- and I am telling you guys that the veal parmigiana, cheese pizza and chicken marsala that we shared, were all right on the money!
Let me wrap this one up for you…
Good food, reasonable prices, pleasant service, nice size portions- makes Santino’s Pizza-Pasta a joint that Jeff Eats wishes was in Boca Raton (that’s where I live) than in Pembroke Pines (that’s where it’s located)!
If you guys live or work anywhere near Santino’s- give it a shot… I’m thinking you’ll really enjoy the food!

“Look what they did to my boy. Look what they did to Santino!”
Anyway…
Got a real-good- Pembroke Pines’ “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you…Santino’s Pizza-Pasta. You can check menu/prices/photos/other stuff at www.santinospizzapasta.com.
Now, straight up I’m telling you that…Santino’s Pizza-Pasta has definitely not reinvented the wheel-here! With that in mind, Jeff Eats really enjoyed the large pizza ($12.95)-gnocchi with meat sauce ($11.75)-veal marsala ($14.95)-zuppa di pesce ($20.95) that made their way to the Eats’ table. Throw in the fact, that all of the entrees came with a house salad/or soup, pasta side and delicious garlic rolls and you gotta-know that Jeff Eats was an extremely happy camper.
Santino’s is what I call a no-brainer…tons of good solid red sauce stuff and loads of Coca Cola (ice tea or is it iced tea?- in Mrs. Jeff Eats’ case) for tops 50 bucks a couple…and of course, your tee shirt/shorts ensemble will be in fashion.
Santino’s Pizza-Pasta is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 1pm-10pm.
