New York Pizza Cafe (Venice)

***** New York Pizza Cafe, 7765 US Highway 41 Bypass South, Venice, Florida 34285, (9410 451-8362.

Got an absolutely dynamite pizza joint for you guys, New York Pizza Cafe in Venice.

You guys originally from New York- You know how every transplanted New Yorker in sunny Florida bitches about- “How the pizza down here sucks?” Well, feed them over-at New York Pizza Cafe and unless there is something seriously wrong with them- they’ll swear they’re back home eating a slice!

The other day, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did a couple of New York Pizza Cafe’s slices and trust me, they easily matched-up against the best slices you, your friends, your mother, your aunt, your enemies grew-up on in the 5 boroughs!-and I don’t even know you, your friends, your mother, your aunt, your enemies!

Hole in the wall joint, pies/slices, calzones/garlic knots/subs/salads, order-pickup at counter, handful of tables, open Monday-Saturday 10:30am-9pm, closed Sunday!

Long story short, Vito- the owner told me some tale as-to how he was originally from Brooklyn so forth and so on- look, Jeff Eats was born and bred in Brooklyn- and I still don’t know how to steal a car! All I can tell you guys, is that this guy Vito-New York Pizza Cafe makes an amazing delicious thin crispy crust/ sweet sauce/ gooey cheese/ slight oil drip when folded-pointed down slice that absolutely kills!

Last but not least, killer pizza- 212 miles 1-way from Jeff Eats’ Boca Raton abode!

Burgers & Shakes (Miami Beach)

***** Burgers & Shakes, 7401 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33141, (305) 866-1145.

For our purposes we’re gonna call Burgers & Shakes “an out of sight, out of mind” fast food burger joint!

Real simple story, Jeffiut Eats first told you guys about Burgers & Shakes way-back on 6/18/14, truth be told, hadn’t been back since! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, 7401 Collins Avenue isn’t even remotely close to Jeff Eats’ Boca Raton abode- thus the “an out of sight, out of mind” handle!

Anyway,

Last night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did dinner at Burgers & Shakes and like it did in 2014, the joint’s food, pleasant service, reasonable prices-blew us away! Delicious flat top grilled hamburgers/ French fries/ onion rings/ shakes, order-pickup at the counter, inside and outside seating.

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, if you like hamburgers, French fries, onion rings, shakes- you’re gonna like Burgers & Shakes! For you guys not into hamburgers, French fries, onion rings, shakes- the joint has a real good handful of other “stuff” so there’s no way- that your’e gonna starve!

By the way, Burgers & Shakes is absolutely perfect for the night owl crowd, as it’s open 7 days a week 11am-4am!

You can check menu/info at burgers-and-shakes.com.

***** Burgers & Shakes, 7401 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33141, (305) 866-1145.
Hole in the wall fast food hamburger- joint. Very limited indoor/outdoor seating. Order/pickup at counter. Handful of wines, 11 beers on tap/30 or so bottled.

For some reason, today- everybody plays Albert Einstein when it comes to hamburgers. This was too fatty, this was too pink, this was too soft. Enough with the TOOs…trust Jeff Eats on this one, there is way too much analyzing going on. To tell you the truth, I can’t recall the last time I had a burger that was so bad, that Jeff Eats didn’t finish it. For sure, some burgers are better than other burgers-but like 6 degrees of separation they are all kinda related.

Absolutely loved Burgers & Shakes’ flat top grilled cheeseburger, french fries, hot dog, onion rings and chocolate shake.

Not much more to tell you other than the joint is open 11am-4am 7days a week, plays classic rock and its website is www.burgers-and-shakes.com.

The Three Coins Diner (Tampa)

Posted on April 18th, 2017 · American Breakfast Tampa · No Comments »

**** The Three Coins Diner, 7410 North Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33604, (813) 774-5269.

Got a terrific diner for you guys, The Three Coins Diner in Tampa.

Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Daughter Jeff Eats and Son Jeff Eats recently did- lunch at The Three Coins Diner and I gotta tell you- the joint blew all four of us away!

Just so you guys and Jeff Eats are on the same page, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are gigantic fans of the “mom & pop” diner concept. Maybe it’s a Brooklyn thing, but for as long as we can remember- dating back to the 1950’s we’ve been eating in diners! For what it’s worth, Daughter Jeff Eats and Son Jeff Eats are also diner “fans”- but based on the fact that Florida (where they were raised) has very few 24/7 diners, they are far from being the diner experts that their parents, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are!

Long story short, The Three Coins Diner which has been around since 1984 is the real deal- it’s open 24 hours/7 days a week, does breakfast/lunch/dinner around the clock, gigantic menu, dynamite food, booth/table/counter seating, handful of outdoor tables, flat top grill, reasonable prices, big portions, owned and operated by Greeks, super pleasant service, easy going no drama vibe, cool looking “old” diner decor!

Like I said 2 seconds ago, The Three Coins Diner blew all 4 of us away!

For menu/prices/info check
The Three Coins Diner is open- 24/7- and the way Jeff Eats got it figured, there is no way anything in Florida stays open 24/7 unless it’s doing plenty of business!

Trust Jeff Eats, if you’re into “diners”- you’ll love The Three Coins Diner!

The Skinny:

Dom Irrera

from bocablackbox.com
When Dom Irrera takes the stage, he does not simply get on it, he owns it!

Dom projects a singular charisma that firmly engages audiences from the opening moment and doesn’t let go until the end of the performance, and beyond.

Trying to analyze what makes a comedian special is typically a fool’s errand, but we’ll give it a go: With Dom, it seems to be a blend of regular-guy presence and relaxed, effortless delivery-and, of course, what he’s delivering is top-notch material, laced with an array of colorful characters and voices. Beyond beautifully-crafted jokes and routines, Dom’s also giving the audience one-man sketches and bursts of improv. You can catch one his three shows here at the Boca Black Box this April!
