Fred Rubino was born on the lower east side of Manhattan in New York City and then moved to Brooklyn. It is here where Fred developed, at an early age, the basis for his comedy material and the humor and hilarity of growing up Italian and in Brooklyn! In 2005 Fred became a published author with the release of his conspiracy driven book Nazi Princess: The Final Deception which actually isn’t funny at all!!! Three years later, Fred turned his interest to writing and performing stand up comedy. Opening up for comics such as Nick Dipaolo and Vic Dibitetto, Fred quickly became the featured comic everyone wanted to use! He has also appeared on Radio Opie and Anthony’s top ten funniest listeners radio show, recently had his performance broadcast live on the internet via Action Audio and has made many appearances on local cable talk shows where he has performed his hilarious standup. Fred has now successfully transitioned from Featured Comic to Star and Headlining Comedian.

Jeff Eats has seen all of the tribute “acts” listed and I gotta tell you- nice, strong lineup! By the way- Burger & Beer Joint’s food is absolutely terrific! If you like, you can check Jeff Eats’ 2/9/17 Burger & Beer Joint story for my thoughts on the joint, if not, not!

American Coffee Shop (Oakland Park)

***** American Coffee Shop, 41 Northeast 44th Street, Oakland Park, Florida 33334, (954) 772-8850.

Do you guys know what it means to be scarily good?

Well, if you don’t- go eat at American/Spanish- breakfast/lunch- “mom & pop” diner- American Coffee Shop in Oakland Park and then you’ll know!

Jeff Eats first told you guys about American Coffee Shop way-back on 7/4/14…

Long story short- hadn’t been back since- that is until yesterday, when Jeff Eats and three buddies did breakfast there.

Like I said, scary good!

American Coffee Shop is an absolute must try!

***** American Coffee Shop, 41 Northeast 44th Street, Oakland Park, Florida 33334, (954) 772-8850.

American Coffee Shop…American and Spanish food.

Let Jeff Eats start by saying, I loved American Coffee Shop. This joint “is” what JeffEats.com “is” all about…finding the best joints in South Florida… American Coffee shop-a hole in the wall “mom & pop” diner in a bombed out strip center with cool ambiance, delicious food, reasonable prices, terrific owners/staff.

American Coffee Shop is open Monday-Saturday 7am-3pm, Sunday 7am-1pm.

For the record, Jeff Eats did both a breakfast and a lunch at American Coffee Shop.

When you check the joint’s menu at americancoffeeshop.net you’ll find both breakfast/lunch menus. The breakfast menu is loaded with-expected American fare…the lunch menu is loaded with-expected American stuff and is also loaded with Spanish/latin stuff.

On the breakfast outing, the western omelet/farmer’s omelet/french toast were exactly what the doctor ordered. Look! -breakfast is breakfast, but good stuff/friendly service/endless-timely coffee refills/owners who stop by to say hello/cool old diner decor–is what makes joints like American Coffee Shop-winners in Jeff Eats’ book.

On the lunch outing, the cheeseburger/steak fajitas/Cuban sandwich were all delicious. On the second “meal” the same great vibe/decor/service were there, not to mention soda glasses that were never even close to being empty.

Like I said a few seconds ago, Jeff Eats loved America Coffee Shop…this joint is a must try!

After realizing the outreach he had received from friends and family alike, Uncle Gary decided it was time to grow the event, and dedicate his event proceeds to “Kids Cancer Foundation” in Royal Palm Beach. Uncle Gary’s Rock and Rib Fest now includes great live music, bounce houses, kid’s Fun-zone, grab bags, raffles, face painting, playgrounds and so much more!

The “Kids Cancer Foundation” was Founded by Michelle O’Boyle RN, CPON, and is located in Royal Palm Beach FL, providing support services to over 300+ children with cancer. Visit their website at: http://www.kidscancersf.org

***** Rodeo Diner, 2235 East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, Florida 34744, (407) 846-8003.

Got a real good “mom & pop” cowboy/rodeo themed decor- flat top grill- table/booth/counter seating- open 7 days a week 6:30am-8pm diner for you guys- Rodeo Diner in Kissimmee.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did a recent Rodeo Diner breakfast and the joint acquitted😜 itself quite nicely! Hey, Brooklyn born and bred Jeff Eats may not know how to ride a horse or lasso a goat-or whatever🤓, but I do know when a joint cranks-out real good western omelettes, hash browns, French toast, sausages, biscuits and gravy, grits!

F

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats really enjoyed the Rodeo Diner. For sure, no re-invention of the wheel there- just real good reasonably priced food, pleasant service and coffee cups that were never empty!

If you’re into the “mom & pop” diner concept- you’ll love this joint! By the way, “that” gyro platter can definitely feed two- unless you’re like Gorilla Monsoon or something!

***** Harbor Café, 1396 Southeast 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316, (954) 467-0363.

Got a good breakfast-lunch joint for you…Harbor Café in Fort Lauderdale. Absolutely nothing fancy going on here. Inside counter/table/booth seating & outside table seating…it’s located in the prerequisite strip center. For those into math, 76 seats inside, 22 outside.

Not the biggest menu in the diner-world, but enough breakfast stuff, salads, burgers, sandwiches, meat/chicken/seafood entrees, Greek stuff, desserts- so everybody (except your picky- “kids”) are gonna find what to eat.

By the way the joint is open Monday-Saturday 6:30am-3pm, Sunday 6:30am-2pm (I guess the staff wants to get home in time to watch the Dolphins lose another game-sheesh).

Jeff Eats recently did a lunch with a couple of buddies…bacon cheeseburger (with French fries/tomato/cole slaw $7.20), chicken salad on- Kaiser roll ($5.10), grilled cheese & bacon on rye ($4.50), Greek salad ($7.95)- everything was A-OK! Just so we are straight with each other, Harbor Café is your basic neighborhood diner- Jeff Eats loves “diner” food-and that’s exactly what this joint serves-up. Like I said a few seconds ago, absolutely nothing fancy going on here…hopefully you guys get my drift, flat grill-top stuff galore!

One other observation, from what I “saw” Harbor Café does a nice locals’ business and-catches some nice action from the hotels-in the area.

To wrap it up for you…good food, reasonable prices, very pleasant wait-staff.

Doo Wop Mania (Township Center for Performing Arts- Coconut Creek)

This article first appeared on March 1, 2017. Jeff Eats just checked and there are a handful of tickets left for tomorrow night’s show. Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are going- if you wanna go and don’t yet have tickets, time to get cracking!

* Doo Wop Mania.

Jeff Eats just picked-up 2-tickets…

Just so you guys know, before the show- Jeff Ears and Mrs. Jeff Eats are probably gonna catch a couple of slices at Pasquale & Son’s Pizza Company which is something like 5 minutes from the theater!

Posted on February 5th, 2010

***** Pasquale & Son’s Pizza Company, 5609 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, Florida 33076 (954) 510-0703.

Pasquale & Son’s is a “red sauce” Italian “order-at the counter/pickup-at-the-counter” joint. It is a very modern looking restaurant, with flat screen tvs with plenty of table and booth seating.

Before we go any further, the same guys who own Pasquale & Son’s have another joint, Pasquale’s Pizza & Subs, 10337, Royal Palm Boulevard, Coral Springs, Florida 33065 (954) 341-0707…same concept–menu–prices–hours–website.

Pasquale & Son’s is my kind of joint. Take a look at its website www.pasqualeandsons.com for menu/prices/photos—and you’ll get some idea of what I am yapping about. Straight-up…real casual, good stuff, reasonable prices.

The other night I did—chicken parm sub ($7.95), penne ala vodka ($12.95-comes with 4 garlic rolls and side salad), large plain pizza ($15.95), sicilian pizza ($18.95), calzone ($8.50 mozzarella & ricotta), stromboli ($8.50 mozzarella-pepperoni-sausage-peppers-onion) and I gotta tell you, the food is right on the money. Like I told you before, you are your “own” waiter/waitress (got to be politically correct here)…this is one-easy going-casual joint. I have to single that stromboli out for- special kudos, sorry- I didn’t order a large one for $18.50, it was really that good.

Pasquale & Son’s is open Sunday-Thursday 10am-11pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-midnight.
