Ming’s Bistro was real good in 2014…Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ recent 2017 Ming’s Bistro dinner was off the chart delicious!

Jeff Eats would be doing Ming’s Bistro a huge disservice by just singling out dishes like its bbq beef ribs ($12.95) or for that matter its sweet & sour chicken ($10.95) for special mention!

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you- this joint’s food absolutely kills!

***** Ming’s Bistro, 1212 Woodward Street, Orlando, Florida 32803, (407) 898-9672.

Got a real-good Chinese joint for you guys…Ming’s Bistro in Orlando.

Now, Jeff Eats maybe a bit presumptuous here-but I’m thinking… that if you like dim sum, or American Jewish Brooklyn Chinese Food circa 1957, or “real” Chinese food-you’re gonna enjoy Ming’s Bistro.

Just so you know, Ming’s doesn’t have a website to check menu/prices, but trust me, its got a ton of stuff for you guys to eat–all at neighborhood Chinese joint prices.

The joint does have the requisite no frills “décor”-lots of “red signage”- hanging roast pigs and ducks- oil cloth/tablecloths-waitresses who “make” like they don’t understand you, etc.

Anyway,

A recent dinner outing had Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple- “trying”- wonton soup, fried shrimp balls, baked bbq pork buns, roast pork fried rice, bbq pork ribs, beef chow fun, sweet & sour chicken, roast duck, fried sesame balls, seafood pan fried noodles, pepper steak, egg custard tart. Everything was right on the money!

Ming’s Bistro is a real good joint to know about. Like it says at the “top” it’s in Orlando-so if you live in that neck of the woods- definitely give it a shot! For you folks from out of the area, the next time you’re doing Disney, Universal, Sea World–skip the chains and do this mom & pop.

Ming’s is open 7 days a week 10:30am-9:30pm.

For the 6th year in a row, the grand ballroom of the Delray Marriott comes alive in a New Year’s Eve filled with old friends and new, award-winning cuisine and dancing to the soundtrack of our lives – the music of The Motortown All-Stars.

The Delray Beach Marriott is an exquisite 4-Diamond resort, conveniently located at the corner of A1A & Atlantic Avenue. Ticket prices include a gourmet dinner, champagne toast, broadcast from Times Square and more!

The tickets… are priced at the same reasonable price as when we started! $159 for Reserved Seating and $179 for Premium Reserved Seating (the first 2 rows of tables, front and center with an up-close view of the stage show). Ticket price includes live entertainment from The Motortown All-Stars throughout the evening, dinner, dessert, a champagne toast at midnight and a live broadcast from Times Square. We’ve even included self-parking, for which there is usually a charge.

Dinner and dessert… The Delray Beach Marriott has long been known for its delectable offerings at special events and, needless to say, New Year’s Eve will feature some of the resort’s finest. We are always pleased to offer a world-class buffet loaded with their finest. Each year’s menu includes upgrades from the year prior, and last year’s included Wedge Salad with Tomato, Bacon, Red Onion and Blue Cheese, a Classic Caesar Salad with Romaine Hearts, Ciabatta Croutons and Grana Padano, Cedar Plank Salmon with Grain Mustard Maple Glaze, Tuscan Roasted Chicken with Tomato Basil Relish and Pan Jus, Prime Rib (carved fresh) with Horseradish Cream and Au Jus, Garlic Whipped Potatoes, Roasted Asparagus and Hericot Verts. Last year we added a custom Pasta Station where Tortellini, Orecchiette and Gluten Free Penne were prepared with choice of Garlic Parmesan and Marinara, topped with your choice of Fresh Peas, Wild Mushrooms, Onion, Spinach, Squash, Zucchini, Sausage, Shrimp, Tomato, Parmesan, Crushed Pepper and of course, Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The Dessert Display featured Pecan Pie and Key Lime Pie Bars, Tiramisu, Dulche De Leche and Strawberry Shortcake as well as White Chocolate Raspberry and Duo Chocolate Verines. There will also be plenty of Seasonal Fruit for those who instate their New Year’s resolutions early. Coffee and tea will be served at your tables and you’ll enjoy a champagne toast at midnight with our compliments.

The Motortown All-Stars… The real deal! Every vocalist and musician you will see and hear is flying in from Detroit for this exciting event. Assembled from members of the Capitols, the Miracles and former members of the Temptations, this super-group of Hitsville stars will sing all your favorites live, just the way you remember them – “My Girl”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”, “Get Ready” and those slow dances – “Ooh Baby, Baby”, “The Tracks of My Tears” and “Just My Imagination.”

Dancing… If you’ve got the stamina, the dance floor will be open all night! We do things the old-fashioned way – with live singers, live musicians and even live horns. Live drums provide the back beat, saxophones and trumpets blaring just like in the good old days. It’ll be just the right volume and just the right groove for a discerning audience that knows what good music is.

Parking… is included! Your New Year’s Eve ticket price also includes self-parking at no charge or discounted valet parking. (Please note that overnight hotel guests are subject to the regular overnight parking charges. We regret that complimentary and discounted parking is only for the duration of the event and is not available to those who are remaining on property after the event concludes.)

***** Village Tavern, 1880 North Congress Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida 33426 (561) 853-0281.

Last night I gave Village Tavern an “American Style” joint located in Boynton Beach a shot…there is also a Village Tavern in Pembroke Pines—when you check the joint’s website www.villagetavern.com for menu/prices you will find that there are a handful more in several other states.

Village Tavern seats something close to 300. There is a dining room and separate bar area.

The best way to describe Village Tavern’s decor—think Cheesecake Factory, Houston’s, J. Alexander’s and you got the picture.

Last night, this joint was jammed. I will tell you, that an 8pm reservation for 4–was honored.

Now let’s talk food…the menu is loaded with appetizers, salads, pastas, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, meat-seafood-chicken entrees. This evening I “did” bbq pulled pork sliders (3-with french fries $8.50), bacon cheeseburger ($9.95), grilled talapia ($16.95), grilled chicken & penne ($14.50), shrimp scampi ($15.95)…I enjoyed all of the food, except the french fries which were on the “limp” side.

Village Tavern is a WINNER. Nice sized portions. Very reasonable prices. Pleasant and competent waitstaff.

Village Tavern is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11am, Sunday 10am-11pm

***** The Boys Farmers Market- Donuts, 14378 Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484, (561) 496-8123.

Here’s a little heads-up for you guys, about 4 months ago- on a daily basis, The Boys Farmers Market started to bake some absolutely off the chart-delicious donuts. On a good day, maybe there are 4-5 different kinds of donuts and just maybe The Boys Farmers Market makes 10-12 dozen of them. If you get to The Boys early enough (because the donuts sell out real fast)- you’ll find the donuts in the bakery department and they’re gonna set you back something like a buck and a quarter- a piece. Trust Jeff Eats on this one…like I said 2 seconds ago- absolutely off the chart delicious!

Just picked-up these two beauties about a 1/2-hour ago…

Jeff Eats first “reviewed” The Boys Farmers Market on 5/6/2009.

That review is reprinted below.

It is now some 5 1/2 years later- and I just wanted to tell -new as well as old- Jeff Eats’ readers that I LOVE this joint-and if you live or work anywhere-near The Boys Farmers Market make it your business to shop there…trust me, you will be thrilled that you did!

Posted May 6th, 2009

***** The Boys Farmers Market, 14378 Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484 (561) 496-8123.

If you can “handle” its parking-lot…with senior citizens “backing in and backing out” non-stop…The Boys Farmers Market is an absolutely great place to shop for fruits, fresh squeezed juices, vegetables, baked goods, cheeses, wines, candies, seafood, meats, coffees and prepared chicken/seafood/meat dishes.

Just guessing here, but The Boys’ probably has something like 30,000 square feet of indoor space jammed with top quality FOOD. All the free samples that you’d like…and everything sold, runs circles around joints like Publix, Winn Dixie and Albertsons, not to mention-probably cheaper.

My family has been shopping at The Boys Farmers Market for years…and I have been amazed by two things…namely, that we have never been involved in a fender-bender in its parking lot & the great stuff that it sells.

The Boys has its own bakery, squeezes its own juices and prepares its own “take out” food. This joint is an absolute-winner. If you live in the Delray Beach area, you probably already know about The Boys…for those of you who don’t, you got to go shopping there…just be careful in the parking lot.

The Boys Farmers Market is open 7 days a week.
