The other day, I told you guys about a terrific “market”…The Boys Farmers Market (5/6/09) located in Delray Beach.

Now let me tell you about another terrific “market”…Doris Italian Market & Bakery which currently has 5 locations… Hollywood, Plantation, Coral Springs, Boca Raton and Pembroke Pines…another spot in Sunrise is scheduled to open in the very near future. Just so you know, Doris started out in Hollywood in 1947 as a neighborhood Italian meat-market. Today’s locations, are probably 7,500-10,000 sq. ft and have a full range of meats, seafood, baked goods, fresh produce, prepared foods and grocery items. Although it calls itself an “Italian Market & Bakery”…Doris’ baked goods and prepared foods are not limited to Italian “style” food…unless stuff like bbq ribs, tuna salad, shrimp salad, egg salad, chocolate chip cookies are Italian food.

Over the years, my family has shopped countless times at Doris’ Boca location…and I have to tell you, that its baked goods and prepared foods…are outstanding. This joint’s cakes, breads, pastries are top-notch…its Italian “dishes” are as good, if not better, than the stuff served by your favorite neighborhood pizza joint.

The way I look at Doris…outstanding joint for baked goods,”take home” food, fresh meat-seafood…by the way, Doris makes a chicken salad which is one of the “best” that I have eaten…As for produce and grocery items, your local Publix is better…Prices?— local supermarket prices.

Doris is open Monday-Friday 8:30am-7pm, Saturday 8:30am-6:30pm, Sunday 8:30am-5pm.

It all started when Chain Reaction banded together in South Florida and began re-creating the sounds of the American super group, Journey. They wanted to pay special homage to Journey’s best years (1977-1998), when Steve Perry fronted the band.

The amazing voice of John D’Agostino, coupled with the exceptional musical talents of four equally sophisticated and experienced musicians soon propelled Chain Reaction to become one of the premier Journey reverence bands of our time. The band strives to re-create the exact sounds and nuances of Journey. Their passion for authenticity and attention to detail go a long way toward ensuring that the audience feels like they’re at a real Journey concert.

While the band has enjoyed performing the music of Journey, front man John D’Agostino also loves another American super group, Styx. Turns out the rest of the band are huge Styx fans, too. So they began adding some of Styx’s best tunes to their already expansive repertoire of Journey material. You may have heard, then again maybe you haven’t heard- a couple of weeks ago- fast food chain Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen introduced a Classic and a Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich- to its menu and ever since, there have literally been lines around the block to get these sandwiches…

Yesterday, Jeff Eats got a chance to try both the Classic and Spicy sandwiches ($3.99 each)- which feature a fried chicken fillet on a brioche bun, complemented by a few pickles and a slather of mayonnaise and I am telling you guys- to go get in line! Absolutely delicious…

Right about now I’m kinda guessing that most of you guys are saying- “Hey! I haven’t been in a Popeyes in years. I got no idea if there is even one by house.” Just so you know, there are something like 3200 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen locations spread out over 40 states with a ton of them located in Florida…

On Monday, Sterling Heights-based Jet’s Pizza will celebrate 41 years in business. For customers, that means an offer that is too good to pass up.

To thank their customers, on Monday they will offer customers a 41% discount — nearly half off — on pizza. Monday, Aug. 26, reflects the day Jet’s opened in 1978.

Jet’s says its pizza discount promotion is valid for all menu priced pizzas. You can redeem for pickup or delivery at all their locations or use the code JETS41 online.

First told you guys about fast food/order-pickup at counter/”roast beef” Beefy King on April 10, 2012. The truth be told, Jeff Eats hadn’t been back since- that is until yesterday’s lunch with Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats splitting two roast beef sandwiches, a pastrami/roast beef combo sandwich and way too many tater tots!

Real simple tale to tell you guys, Beefy King which has been around for something like 48 years serves absolutely dynamite food in a no frills, no drama setting. If you live, work, go to school or just happen to be in the area, the joint is an absolute must try- that’s assuming of course, that you’re into off the chart delicious stuff like- roast beef, pastrami, corned beef and turkey sandwiches!

Was up in Orlando the other day…and had a fast food lunch at Beefy King. Like most of you, I’d never heard of this joint–but its been around since 1968…as a point of reference, in 1968 I was a sophmore at Ithaca College, weighed 162 lbs and wore a size 32 waist pants. Anyway…stepping inside was like going back in time. Not 100% sure on this, but my money says that this joint hasn’t been remodled since it first opened. Anyway…two “townies” who were on line, told me that the joint was famous for its steamed roast beef, pulled pork and tater tots. So, when it came my time to order, Jeff Eats ordered pastrami-corned beef sandwiches and onion rings—just kidding.

Beefy King does…roast beef/ham & cheese/turkey/pastrami/corned beef/bbq pork/bbq beef Kaiser roll sandwiches, handful of salads, handful of sides, milkshakes.

For the record, the roast beef/pulled pork sandwiches were amazingly delicious…same for the crispy tater-tots.

Now nothing for nothing, in deciding if you are going to trust my taste buds on this “outing”—keep in mind, that I am and have always been a huge Arby’s fan.

I loved the food. I loved the nostalgic signage/decor.

Defintely strange for a free standing fast food joint…it’s only open Monday-Friday 10am-3pm, Friday 11am-3pm, closed on Sunday.

In a nutshell…if you’re looking for reasonably priced- off the chart delicious kosher baked goods, then you gotta checkout Sonny’s Kosher Bakery in North Miami.

Yesterday, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Sonny’s and like I just said, reasonably priced- off the chart delicious kosher baked goods!

Now you guys all know that this food reviewing “gig” is purely a subjective call- you know, what I like you may hate and vice versa…with that in mind, I’m telling you guys, that this joint’s plain challah, chocolate babka and chocolate rugalah rank right up there with the best plain challah, chocolate babka and chocolate rugelach (kosher and non-kosher) that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have eaten dating back to 1972 when we first met in Brooklyn!
