The Skinny- the joint opened about 3 months ago, table/hi-top/counter seating, menu of reasonably priced- pizzas/salads/calzones/wings/subs/garlic rolls/beers/wines, open Monday-Thursday 11am–10pm/ Friday–Saturday 11am-11pm/ Sunday noon–10pm.
Last night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats gave Pizza District a shot and I gotta tell you that the joint killed it! Absolutely delicious thin crust pepperoni pizza/ garlic rolls/ chicken parm sub/ Greek salad!
Let me wrap this tale up by telling you guys- that Pizza District’s delicious food/ pleasant service/ reasonable prices/ cool looking “steel” decor/ easy going vibe- spell winner in Jeff Eats’ book!

National Chicken Wing Day on July 29 lacks the significance of basically any holiday at all. Nonetheless, the faux holiday (hauxliday?) is bringing the heat in 2020. That’s both figurative and literal. You can get buffalo wings, but there are also so many wing deals this year that if you took advantage of them all you’d become Thanks to chickens.
Buffalo Wild Wings, Wingstop, Wing Zone… these are the expected hubs. The ones that have “wing” in their name. But Applebee’s is also jumping into the thigh-shaped ring on National Chicken Wing Day. You can grab buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) wings for delivery or to-go orders at Applebee’s all over this fair land. All you’ve got to do is use the code “WINGDAY” while ordering, and you’ll get double the wings in your choice of boneless or bone-in. The offer is only going to be around for a single day, though.
The deal is available on wings tossed in Classic Hot Buffalo sauce as well as Asian Chili or Honey BBQ. The wing slinging chain is going to let you combine flavors, too. So, you can get one order with Classic Hot Buffalo sauce and then drop Asian Chili on the second.
However, you have to order through Applebees.com or the chain’s mobile app, which does mean you have to sign up for an account on the Applebee’s site if you don’t have one already. The BOGO offer won’t work unless the code is applied with an account attached. You can’t get the deal for dine-in or through a third-party delivery app. Yes, there are still some Applebee’s dining rooms open. If you’re considering dining in, take a look at what the restaurant is doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Its policies do not include a requirement for guests to wear masks. Last night Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats ate at fast-food burger joint, Charm City in Deerfield Beach.
Nothing for nothing, we have been eating at this- order at/pickup at the counter joint since April 17, 2008-so last night’s terrific- bacon cheeseburger, turkey burger, French fries, onion rings came as no “surprise”…

Just thought I’d mention Charm City to you guys- who have yet to eat there…this joint is an absolute winner! Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Charm City runs circles and I do mean circles around fast food burger players like Five Guys and BurgerFi -now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with either of them (Jeff Eats is a real steady customer of both chains), but they are cookie cutter mold type operations, like-you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all!…Charm City is a one-shot-deal, there is only one…so on and so forth.
Great food. Super reasonable prices. Cool vibe!

Back on April 17, 2008 I did a review on a “burger” joint named Charm City Burger Company. If you check that review, I absolutely loved the food. At that time, the joint had only been open for something like 3-months…and I questioned its “longevity” based on its piss-poor location. To make a long story short…the joint is still around– has new owners– has a cult-like following—and the food is absolutely DELICIOUS.

All I can tell you, is that I was in the joint last week…delicious bacon cheeseburger, terrific french fries, great sweet potato fries, incredible chicken wings. sensational grilled chicken and soft shell crab rolls.
Order/pickup at the counter. Absolutely nothing fancy here. Just…outstanding food.
Charm City is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

Charm City is a fast-food burger joint. It has been in business for about 3 months and looks like a charming cross between a 1950’s fast-food restaurant and a Greenwich Village coffeehouse. I ate dinner last night and the burger-fries were delicious as was the crabcake on a bun.
Charm City has 2 BIG PROBLEMS…its signage stinks. If you aren’t looking for the joint—you are not finding the joint. In addition, its location on a City Street in Deerfield Beach is absolutely horrendous.
If Charm City was in South Beach, it would be a goldmine. Location, location, location.
If you live in Deerfield Beach or are in the area, Charm City is a good place for a fast-food lunch

Got a real good diner for you guys to check out, Toast in Fort Lauderdale.
Yesterday, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and a couple of friends did lunch at Toast and I gotta tell you- Toast came through with flying colors!
Simple concept at work here, booth/table/counter seating, open 7 days a week 7am-10pm, breakfast menu loaded with eggs/ pancakes/ waffles/ so forth and so on, lunch & dinner menus loaded with appetizers/ burgers/ sandwiches/ salads/ entrees with an emphasis on Greek stuff.
Like I said a couple of seconds ago, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats and a couple of friends did lunch- and the food and service were right on the money delicious!
Let me wrap Toast up by saying, it’s a real good joint to know about! Delicious food, reasonable prices, pleasant service and unlike most of the other diners down here in sunny Florida- it isn’t limited just to breakfast and lunch- serving dinner 7 days a week to 10pm.

Real simple concept at work there- fast food/order-pickup at counter/table seating/60+ flavors of wings-handful of other menu items (seafood, sides, desserts).
Last week, Jeff Eats and a couple of buddies did a late lunch at House of Wings- and all I can tell you guys, real lousy neighborhood- some of the most delicious wings that Jeff Eats has ever eaten!

Got an absolutely terrific Chinese-takeout joint for you…Gary Woo Express in Boca Raton.
Just so you know, Jeff Eats originally “reviewed” this joint on August 19, 2009…suffice it to say, I loved its food back in 2009. Anyway, about 8 months ago new owners took over and to their credit, the food they are “banging-out” is even better than the original stuff. Trust me on this one, Gary Woo Express is right up there with the best Chinese restaurants that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida.
When you check menu/prices at www.garywooexpress.com- in addition to loads of Chinese stuff you will find a huge Japanese menu. For the record, Jeff Eats, didn’t try any of the Japanese items, but if the Japanese food is as good as the Chinese stuff was—Gary Woo Express will be a joint where you can get both-delicious Chinese and Japanese takeout. Just so you know, Gary Woo Express has a couple of tables inside and a handful outside—but this joint is basically a takeout.
Applying Jeff Eats’ 1950’s Brooklyn Jewish Taste Test…sampled items included— won ton soup, tomato egg drop soup, egg rolls, pan fried pork dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, sweet & sour pork, pepper steak, shrimp in lobster sauce, chicken lo mein, roast pork fried rice. The result…Gary Woo Express is one of the best Chinese-takeoout joints that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida. No kidding around, every item “tried” was delicious. To be perfectly honest with you, Jeff Eats’ original plan was to put the “dishes” in some sort of pecking order- but they were all dynamite–so I’ didn’t bother. For you wise-guys out there, No!–Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats didn’t eat “all” that food all by ourselves in one sitting…The fact of the matter, the taste test was conducted in 2-parts…some of the food was picked-up on a Thursday night and some was picked up on Saturday night—so there!
If I got one bitch here, I found the prices a drop- on the high side. No big deal–no second job needed…but the prices were definitely higher than the local competition.
Before I run…if you decide to try Gary Woo Express–when you get to the joint, you’ll find a “menu-rack” outside the front door. The takeout menus in the rack–have coupons and you can use them “right away”— Now that I’m thinking, the coupon that I used saved me 10% off my entire order. The point of all this yapping—use the coupons to off-set the higher-prices I detected.
Gary Woo Express was a “huge” find.
I am telling you, this joint is right up there with best of breed.

Three months ago my husband and I retired and moved from Plainview, New York to Hunter’s Run Country Club in Boynton Beach.

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Chris’ gyro wrap is off the chart-it is absolutely delicious. Just so you know, the original Chris’ review (5/21/10) has a different address listed-when Jeff Eats first “tried” Chris’ it was a small hole in the wall, the new location is in the same shopping center and seats a ton of people inside and on an outdoor patio. Without any hesitation, Jeff Eats will tell you, Chris’ Taverna is one of the best Greek restaurants in South Florida.

Chris’ Taverna is a GREEK RESTAURANT…maybe 20 formica tables inside, 20 outside. You can order at/pickup at the counter…or you can be fancy and have a waitress/waiter take care of you. Menu/prices/loads of photos at www.christaverna.com. This is strictly a shorts/tee shirt ensemble kinda-joint.
Now…and I really mean this, outrageously delicious food. I have to rank the Greek salad ($8.95), gyro entree ($11.95-2 sides), souvlaki entree ($11.95-2 sides), grilled baby lamb chops entree ($20.95, 5 chops-2 sides) right up there with the best that I’ve had in a Greek joint.
Really, that simple.
