For our purposes we are gonna call this Matteo’s story “A Public Service Announcement”…it might be too late to use it – for Mother’s Day but Father’s Day (for the uninformed- Father’s Day is Mother’s Day without presents) is another story!

Anyway,

If you guys are looking for delicious Southern Italian food, great service, huge portions, reasonable prices- you gotta checkout Matteo’s which has a joint in Boca Raton and a joint in Hallandale!

Straight up, Matteo’s is handily one of Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ favorite Florida- Italian restaurants. No bs- we’ve been eating at Matteo’s for years- and every meal- has been right on the money!

Printed down below are previous Jeff Eats’ Matteo’s stories…

Assuming that you aren’t gonna pull a Michael-Captain McCluskey-Sollozzo “scene”on me…

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats and Family- are “eating” at Matteo’s Restaurant in Boca Raton at 7pm. Nothing like good solid-Pilgrim food!-fried zucchini, penne ala vodka, chicken cacciatore, baked clams, linguine in white clam sauce, broiled pork chops, veal marsala- to help us remember Plymouth Rock and Tippecanoe & Tyler Too!

Just so you know, Matteo’s in Boca Raton is one of “our” favorite Italian joints in Florida. Matteo’s food kills and its service is about as good as it gets. If you wanna “see” what a top-shelf restaurant is suppose to be- you eat at Matteo’s in Boca Raton. By the way, “we” also-really enjoy Matteo’s Hallandale location, same great food and service- but Boca Raton is- the Eats’ neighborhood so the Boca Raton joint- is an easier and more convenient outing for us!

Happy Holiday to you and your family.

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Matteo’s broiled pork chop “covered” with grilled onions/mushrooms/cherry peppers is absolutely off the chart. The chop is HUGE and every time I’ve had it, it was a challenge to finish the whole thing. I’m telling you, this chop is something very-very special.

Just so we are straight with each other, Matteo’s is one of the best Italian joints in South Florida. Jeff Eats has literally eaten there countless- times and the food and service are always top-shelf.

Matteo’s is an absolute must try!

Certain things in life bear repeating…

Matteo’s with locations in Boca Raton, Hallandale is one of the best Italian restaurants in South Florida.

If you check…Back on March 19, 2008, I did a writeup on Matteo’s. I absolutely love this joint.You can check Matteo’s menu/prices at www.matteosristorante.com.

Matteo’s has 2 South Florida locations…Boca Raton, Hallandale…on average, I am probably in either the Boca or Hallandale joints at least once a month.

Matteo’s food is delicious. Matteo’s service is outstanding. Matteo’s prices are not-exactly “cheap,” but if you’re sensible when ordering, you won’t need a second job to pay the bill…Matteo’s features both family-style and individual portions. Matteo’s is a “white-tablecloth” joint, but your tee shirt/shorts ensemble will work.

Matteo’s started out as a Long Island joint…check the website for NY locations etc…Not exactly sure when its first S. Florida location (Boca Raton) opened, but from day-one Matteo’s has been a “homerun”…its enormous NY following, translated into an enormous South Florida following.

Look…I could go on and on about this joint…

I am telling you, that if you want terrific Italian food, served by a professional staff…with a management team that makes you feel like you are family…then you want to absolutely positively eat at Matteo’s.

You now know “again” about a sensational Italian joint that is not to be missed.

Cantina Max (Boca Raton)

***** Cantina Max, 6450 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33487, (561) 609-2426.

Jeff Eats first told you guys about Cantina Max way-back on April 7, 2016…

Long story short, on April 9, 2016 Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate dinner at Cantina Max and the joint’s food absolutely killed! Just so you know, the 4-of us split beef (crunchy shell) tacos, chicken burritos, 1/2 roast chicken, pulled pork quesadillas, chicken/shrimp/steak sizzling fajitas and like I just said- everything was delicious! Throw in a terrific Motown tribute show fronted by Larry Johnson- and I gotta tell you, it was a great night out!

Here’s the story’s “kicker”…

The Motown tribute show was such a huge draw- that Cantina Max is bringing “it” back tomorrow night- May 7th (9pm). The show is complimentary- but trust Jeff Eats when I tell you- show or no show Cantina Max’s kitchen is cranking out some real good stuff!

Got something that maybe of interest to- some of you guys…Cantina Max in Boca Raton.

image

Real simple tale,

Cantina Max is a “semi-upscale” 10,000 square foot Mexican joint -which opened in Boca Raton about a month ago. The joint has a separate full bar, tons of tvs, table/booth seating, stage, dance-floor! Just so you know, Jeff Eats has “toured” but not yet tried Cantina Max out!

Anyway,

This coming Saturday Night, April 9th at 9pm, Larry Johnson- one of America’s premier Motown tribute artists is performing a COMPLIMENTARY SHOW as a “promotion” to introduce the “new” Cantina Max to the public.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have seen Larry Johnson’s show and it is nothing short of being terrific! So…on Saturday Night, we are going to kill 2-birds with one stone, that being- we are gonna eat (or shall I say dine?) at Cantina Max and also catch the show!

Like Jeff Eats said a few seconds ago, the show is COMPLIMENTARY…you don’t have to buy a thing or spend one slim dime!

If you wanna go and want a VIP Table (complimentary as well) give Kim of Seaside Music Management a call at (561) 350-3867- she’ll do the rest!

Now -you guys and Jeff Eats both know that Cantina Max’s ultimate “goal” is for you to spend-something…just wanted you to know that Jeff Eats wasn’t born under a turnip truck!

Anyway,

Jeff Eats is kinda thinking this is gonna be a real fun evening…

You can check Cantina Max’s menu/prices/info out at cantinamax.com.

Cantina Max is open Sunday-Wednesday 4pm-11pm, Thursday- Saturday 4pm-2am.

Not to get philosophical or nothing, but certain Rock N Roll bands transcend generational lines!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats recently attended a black-tie wedding- when the 13 piece wedding-band played 3 Journey “hits” every age group (from 5-90) in the room, came alive- singing and dancing along with the band!

With the above in mind, South Florida based Chain Reaction- performs an extremely credible and enjoyable tribute to the ageless-legendary Rock N Roll band- Journey!

***** Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar, 4636 Jog Road, Greenacres, Florida 33467, (561) 964-0900.

For our purposes Jeff Eats is gonna call the Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar in Greenacres “an out of sight, out of mind” terrific sports bar!

I first told you guys about the Eagle Grill on June 30, 2013- and for some unknown-reason Jeff Eats and for that matter Mrs. Jeff Eats literally “forgot” that the joint even existed! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and I have eaten there a couple of times since June 30, 2013- that said, based on last night’s dinner of crab cakes/bbq babyback ribs we haven’t been going (back) there enough! The food absolutely killed!

Let me wrap this package up for you guys, if you live or work anywhere near the Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar- then you gotta give it a shot! It’s really that good!

***** Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar, 4636 Jog Road, Greenacres, Florida 33467, (561) 964-0900.

Got something really-good for you guys…Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar in Greenacres. For our purposes, we’re gonna call this restaurant an “American Style”-“Sports Bar” joint.

Let me start by saying, that Jeff Eats absolutely loved the Eagle Grill.

For what it’s worth…last night, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and our friends Eric and Ellen (Jeff Eats knows Ellen since he was 13 and she was 12) tried the Eagle Grill which had been recommended the night before by our mutual friends Norman and Nancy who live in Delray Beach…confused?

Anyway…

The four of us (that’s Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Eric and Ellen who Jeff Eats knows since he was 13) drove “up” to Greenacres from Boca Raton and found the Eagle Grill in a small shopping center…from the outside, in a million years—the four of us never figured that inside- it was a cool looking neighborhood wood bar/booths/table seating joint with loads of flat screen tvs. By the way, when we got there around 8:15pm–every seat (I’m thinking 125 give or take) in the house including those at the bar were taken—it took us about 10 minutes to catch a booth.

Eagle’s menu has tons of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings, pastas, meat/chicken/seafood entrees, desserts…Just so you know, the joint is heavy on the seafood-side of the ledger, but don’t-worry, there is plenty of non fish stuff, so every-one in your party is gonna find what to eat. At this stage of the game, you can check www.eagle-grill.com for menu/prices/photos.

Now listen closely…Eagle Grill’s food isn’t just good, it is outrageously good. Eric ordered the crab cake entrée ($25-2 crab cakes/2 sides) and scarfed those suckers down as if he was Mahata Gandhi breaking a fast. Jeff Eats did a rack of baby-back ribs ($16- two sides), Mrs. Jeff Eats did blackened mahi ($12.50- two sides), Ellen did a shrimp po boy ($8.50 fried shrimp/lettuce/tomato/mayo and one side), the table shared steamed mussels fra diavlo ($8.50) and gumbo ($10). Like I said, 4 seconds ago…the food was outrageously good.

Let me wrap this story up…

Terrific food—super pleasant service—very reasonable prices (for example–from 3pm-9pm the Eagle offers 9 dinners priced at $9.99 a piece).

In baseball parlance, the Eagle Grill is a grand-slam.

For you guys who need a “drop” of clarification. Ellen is married to Eric, Jeff knows Ellen since he was 13 and she was 12, Norman is married to Nancy and vice versa, Nancy and Norman use to live in Boca Raton but now live in Delray Beach but are thinking of moving to Manhattan but aren’t sure on that just yet, the only tv sets currently being manufactured are flat screen tvs so it’s no longer necessary to call them flat screen tvs-just tvs will suffice and a po boy is the “same” as a sub, hero, blimpie, grinder, hoagie…and your tee shirt/shorts ensembles will work beautifully at the Eagle.

Eagle Grill is open Sunday noon-9:30pm, Monday-Thursday 11am-9:30pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10:30pm.

Finally, if Norman and Nancy decide to move to Manhattan, Jeff Eats will update you guys.

Got a real good red sauce/Italian joint for you guys- Solorzano Bros. Pizza in Sarasota.

Maybe a dozen tables- sort of a limited menu, but the odds are you’ll find what to eat, the joint bakes its own bread, reasonable prices, super pleasant service- and as Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats discovered at a recent dinner-absolutely killer thin crispy crust/sweet sauce pizza, garlic knots, meatball parm sub, caprese salad.

Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that this food blogging business is purely a subjective game. You know the drill, what I like, you may hate- what I think is salty you may find to be too sweet- with all that in mind, I gotta tell you that Solorzano’s stuff was absolute dynamite! One other thought- Solorzano’s “dining room” reminds me of the scene in The Godfather where Michael shoots Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey- like Jeff Eats said 2-seconds ago-Solorzano’s food killed (pun intended)!

Anyway, if you live or work anywhere near Solorzano Bros. Pizza- it’s an absolute must try!
