I have been a loyal Jeff Eats reader since 2006.

I love the blog.

This may sound nuts, but in all the years that I’ve been reading, I have never ‘beaten’ (or at least I don’t remember beating) you to a joint!

The Sensational Soul Cruisers are not just another 11-man vocal harmony group with horns. While it is still sometimes possible to find a band featuring a similar line up of instruments, it is unlikely that you will ever find another that performs with as much energy, passion, and talent as these guys. From their humble beginnings rehearsing in Freehold Borough at the chicken coops on Route 33 to the basement of the Cycle Shop on Throckmorton Street, this band has come a long way from its “Eddie and the Cruisers” days to become one of New Jersey’s best kept secrets.

Under the tutelage of legendary Jersey Shore sax player Screamin’ Steve Barlotta, who has been the captain of this fantastic soul cruise for over 30 years, who has catapulted this band from the recesses of a dingy basement to over 200 performances a year while capturing the true essence of the Jersey Shore sound and its true R&B roots. Fortunately for those of us that feel that the sound of classic Philly Soul, Motown, Disco, Stax, and the music of The Temptations, Four Tops, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, The Trammps and other such groups was and still is some of the best music ever recorded or played live, there will be plenty of chances to see the Sensational Soul Cruisers perform this year and for many years to come. While the band travels to and plays concerts in theaters, clubs, public festivals, and private events throughout the country, they will be spending quite a bit of time up & down the east coast this year.

Over the past 3 decades the Soul Cruisers have been fortunate enough to grace the stage with many great artist from Bruce Springsteen, Little Anthony and The Imperials, Gloria Gaynor, Gary US Bonds, John Cafferty, Southside Johnny, The Emotions, Bon Jovi, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder. As well as being the long time favorite house band at New York City’s famed Copacabana.

Got a real good “mom & pop” Italian joint for you guys to checkout, Paolo’s Of Boca in Boca Raton.

Real simple tale to tell, yesterday Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Paolo’s Of Boca Raton and its food killed! Inside table seating/ 2 tables outside, no frills decor, reasonably priced appetizers/ pizzas/ pastas/ subs/ wraps/ rolls/ calzones/ salads/ entrees/ desserts menu, open Sunday/Tuesday-Thursday 11am-9pm/ Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm/ closed Monday.

Now! You guys know that this Jeff Eats’ food gig is purely a subjective call…what I like, you may hate and vice versa- with that in mind, I’m telling you that this joint’s food is delicious- and Paolo’s Of Boca Raton is an absolute must try!

If you guys can keep a secret- this “production” is one of Las Vegas- South Point Hotel & Casino’s house shows and it sells-out every night!

Got a real good fast food breakfast/lunch joint for you guys to check-out, Olde Towne Grille in Stuart.

Real simple tale to tell, yesterday Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Daughter Jeff Eats and Son Jeff Eats “discovered” Olde Towne Grille and its food was absolute dynamite! Order/pickup at outdoor counter window, no inside seating/ outside- table/counter seating, reasonably priced all-day breakfast stuff/ burgers/ hot dogs/ steaks/ hot & cold subs-wraps-sandwiches/ salads/ sides/ ice cream/ desserts/ daily specials menu.

Let’s wrap-up Olde Town Grille by saying that you can check menu/prices/info at oldetownegrille.com, that the joint is open Monday-Thursday 10am-2pm/ Friday-Sunday 10am-4pm, that if Olde Towne Grille was a whole lot closer to Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ Boca Raton abode we would eat there every day!

I don’t know about you guys- but when I’m thinking- charcoal grilled Sweet Italian Sausages, the name Walmart doesn’t exactly pop into old Jeff Eats’ head!

Simple tale to tell…

Last night, I came across “packages” of Premio Sweet Italian Sausage ($4.98/5 links/19oz) in the refrigerated meat “department” of the Walmart Supercenter, 16205 South Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484, (561) 495-8127- took a shot and bought 2 packages!

Threw the sausages on my charcoal grill for something-like 20 minutes and I’m telling you, outrageously delicious!

Absolutely amazing what you can “discover” at Walmart, while checking-out the get-ups that some of its customers go shopping in!

Yesterday afternoon, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did something real-simple… figuring that we had “no school” on Monday-we took a drive down to Miami and had ice cream cones at Walls Old Fashioned Ice Cream.

Printed down below is a Jeff Eats’ “review” dated- July 8, 2008.

A cone of vanilla and a cone of coffee with chocolate sprinkles on a beautiful sunny day- just that simple!

Wall’s is literally Ice Cream Heaven…if you don’t like ice cream, then Wall’s is not for you. This free standing 1950’s “looking” take-out joint with its outdoor red/white umbrella-tables features something like 40 different flavors of premium quality home made ice cream. For sure, its got yogurt and fat free stuff, but ice cream is the king at Wall’s.

Do yourself a favor and check Wall’s website wallsicecreamfl.com and see if you can honestly tell me (after looking at its menu/photos) that you don’t want to go there RIGHT AWAY.

This a great place. Once again, if you don’t like ice cream Wall’s is not for you.
