SIMON & GARFUNKEL TRIBUTE Jeb Guthrie and Jock Guthrie

The GUTHRIE BROTHERS, knew the first time they played a Simon & Garfunkel song that they had a natural and almost spiritual connection to it. “Our voices seemed to blend effortlessly into that S & G signature sound, and the overwhelming audience reaction to our first tribute performance confirmed our feelings,” Jock says. “Since that first performance, we’ve worked to perfect our tribute to these two amazing artists.” The New York-based musicians perform this tribute with startling authenticity in an “unplugged” acoustic style. The brothers have been singing together for as long as either one of them can remember-–a major reason for the perfect blend of their harmonies.

Both men play acoustic guitar and sing. “The music that we play is truly an extension of who we are,” Jock says. “Our philosophy is to do songs that we feel directly connected to, and we can trace these connections back to shared experiences and feelings from our childhood in Green Bay, Wisconsin.” “We think this is the reason we can be so faithful to the spirit and sound of whatever period or type of music we’re playing–including our own music. We play together as one,” Jeb says. The Guthries’ original music received national attention with the release of their self-titled, debut album. The album garnered extensive airplay on both Americana and Country radio stations. About the album, Billboard magazine said, “Many stations will find the well-written, heartfelt lyrics and wonderful harmonies a welcome addition to their airwaves.” The album has been re-released and can be heard and purchased online at the iTunes Music Store and Rhapsody.

Long time reader. Love the Jeff Eats’ site.
I need a great 50s-60s Rock N Roll band for a charity event that I am the Chairperson of. The charity event is in September, 2016 and will be held in North Miami. Expecting around 300 people.
I have seen a number of south Florida 50s-60s bands and although many are very good, I would love to have a band that is really special and if possible not based in the immediate area so that its appearance will be be fresh, in that most if not all of the guests have never seen the band before.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Real simple bakery/coffee concept going on here…small store, window-counter seating/handful of tables outside—order at/pickup at the counter…

Danish Pastry’s menu has something like 25 different freshly baked pastries, danish, croissants-and orange juice/coffee/tea.

Look!-based on my double chin…

It would be fair to say, that Jeff Eats in his day, has eaten his fair share of danish and croissants…with that in mind- the cinnamon swirl, maple pecan plait and chocolate bun that I recently had- were delicious.

Trust me on this one, you ain’t gonna find stuff like this at Publix or specialty markets like Doris Italian Market & Bakery or Joseph’s Classic Market.

Really have no opinion on the brewed coffee that I had…to this very day, Jeff Eats can’t quite wrap his head around the $2.50-$—(you fill in the number) cup of coffee concept…I still remember 10 cent-cups at Brooklyn’s- Garfield’s Cafeteria circa 1965–gonna sound crazy, but give or take-all black coffee tastes good to me.

While I’m on the subject of coffee-bet you a buck that in a blind taste test- Julio Valdez or whatever the hell his name is/was (I know it’s Juan) couldn’t tell one coffee bean from another-for sure this guy, Robert Schultz got a ton of people drinking the Kool-Aid… But that’s just what Jeff Eats thinks! As my late uncle by marriage Sam Ting use to say…”Jeff Eats, bet you a buck-that if I blindfold you-you couldn’t tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi.” Uncle Sam was a very bright man–who knew a-lot of “things.”

Anyway…

Poppies is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Poppies in addition to its sit-down business, does a tremendous amount of take-out and catering.

Trust Jeff Eats when i tell you, I’ve seen my fair share of “tribute bands”- and these guys are about as good as it gets! The New York Bee Gees’ Boca Black Box gig on Saturday, 2/18/2017 is currently the group’s only public-Florida date, so if you wanna see them, don’t fool around in the ticket department- because this show is gonna sell-out real fast! Willie’s talent has garnered him 10 appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Jay even invited Willie to perform for the troops in Afghanistan. Barcena helped provide much-needed laughter to that part of the world. After 12 years of stand-up road work Willie is now ready for new challenges. He has written and performed a one-man show entitled Cry Like a Man. This highly acclaimed performance demonstrates the struggle of a blue-collar comic in today’s society.
