Got a real good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you guys to check-out, Little Italian Pizza in Pompano Beach.

Real simple tale to tell- handful of tables, full boat menu of reasonably priced off the chart delicious pizzas/ pastas/ hot & cold subs/ salads/ entrees/ other stuff, open Monday-Saturday 11am-10pm/Sunday 4pm-10pm.

Last night Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Little Italian Pizza and I gotta tell you guys- the joint’s food absolutely killed!

Let me wrap this tale up by saying- that I know my “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joints and I’m telling you guys that Little Italian Pizza is an absolute must try! And- if you can keep a secret, the joint’s New York Style Pizza with its thin crisp crust, sweet sauce and nice oil drip- alone is worth the price of admission!

* Burger King’s Impossible Whopper!

The Impossible Whopper went nationwide at all 7,200 Burger King locations in the US on August 8, 2019.

Like regular Whoppers, the Impossible Whopper contains all the classic fixings like tomatoes, crisp lettuce, pickles, and onion, but instead of a flame-grilled beef patty, the Impossible Whopper boasts a flame-grilled veggie patty, which is made with soy protein, potato protein, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and heme.

Personally, I wouldn’t go near this burger with a 10 foot pole…

Is that a sparkle in his eye or is he just confused? While laughing at observations only Mitch can get away with, we are left wondering if he truly understands what he just said. We never really know.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have seen the Blues Brothers Soul Band a number of times and I’m telling you guys that- the band puts on an absolutely terrific show. In addition to covering all of The Blues Brothers’ movie-music the band also- plays loads of other 50s and 60s hit records.

Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and two other couples got plans to catch the band at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek-starting at 8pm…our “plan” also includes eating dinner before the show- around 6pm at Barone’s La Pizzeria (which is literally 3-minutes away from the casino) before heading over to see the Blues Brothers Soul Band in action!

La Pizzeria is a “Mom & Pop—red sauce” pizza joint located in Margate.

You know and I know that “Mom & Pop” pizza joints are a dime a dozen-down here in old South Florida. I think the way it works…the strip center landlord first signs Publix, then Walgreens, then a Chinese takeout, then a pizza joint, then a dry cleaners…then a —-(you fill in the blanks)….then half of the businesses go bust…

Anyway, the other evening, I gave Barone’s La Pizzeria a shot- and I gotta tell you, the food is real-good. My party did pizza, shrimp scampi, veal parmigiana, meat lasagna, chicken & shrimp alfredo, penne ala vodka—and like I just said, real good.

As you know– over the past few years, old Jeff Eats has eaten-in his fair share of “mom & pop” Italian joints…and, to be perfectly honest with you, most of them barely get the job done, but then again, that’s the nature of the beast…”cheap is cheap”….”you get what you pay for”…”one if by land, 2 if by sea.” Trust me on this one, Barone’s La Pizzeria is REAL GOOD…if you live or work near the joint, I highly recommend that you give it a try.

By the way, Barone’s La Pizzeria is right across Sample Road from the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and is maybe a 3-minute drive (west) from the Festival Flea Market on Sample Road.

Barone’s La Pizzeria is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm

Found a real good ice cream joint for you guys to checkout- Tipsy Cow in Bonita Springs.

With the understanding that Jeff Eats and for that matter Mrs. Jeff Eats have never met an ice cream cone nor an ice cream cup that we didn’t like- I gotta tell you that the other day we had home-made ice cream at a joint named, Tipsy Cow and it was off the chart delicious!

Real simple concept, home-made ice cream/sorbet, order-pickup at counter, rotating flavors, inside table and counter seating/ outside table seating.

You guys and Jeff Eats both know that that this Jeff Eats’ food “reviewing” gig is purely a subjective game…you know, what I like, you may hate and vice versa! With that in mind, I’m telling you guys that this Tipsy Cow joint’s ice cream ran circles around most of the ice cream Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have had down here in sunny Florida during the past 26 years. Like I just said- subjective call…

* Way Beyond Bagels Buys Palm Beach Bagel Bakery & Restaurant.

Here’s a scoop for you guys, Way Beyond Bagels located in Delray Beach recently acquired the Palm Beach Bagel Bakery & Restaurant location at 9858 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33496. Literally as Jeff Eats types this “scoop” a remodel is underway at the store- which will be renamed Way Beyond Bagels! The full service restaurant (operated by Way Beyond Bagels) is open- during the renovation! Just so you know, this “deal” will leave 2 Palm Beach Bagel joints open- 1200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton and 533 Clematis Street, West Pam Beach (palmbeachbagel.net).

Way Beyond Bagels makes some of the best bagels and bialys in all of South Florida. In addition, its appetizing…like tuna salad, chicken salad are absolutely superb.

This joint opened about 5 years ago as a take-out which had a few outdoor tables. Based on its immediate and overwhelming success, Way Beyond Bagels rented the store next to its shop and created a cafeteria-type setup where you can eat the stuff that you purchase at the counter. In addition to all types of bagels, bialys, breads, rolls and cold appetizing, Way Beyond Bagels also has hot breakfast items and meats.

This joint is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. On Saturday and Sunday it is absolutely “zoosville.” I am telling you that Way Beyond Bagels’ stuff is as good as it gets down here in South Florida…that’s why it is always jammed with eat-in and take-out orders.

Palm Beach Bagel Bakery & Restaurant has literally taken Boca Raton by storm…in 2 short years, this bagel-deli has opened 3 terrific joints. The original location is on Clint Moore Road…the second and third locations are at, 21065 Powerline Road, Boca Raton (561) 477-7077 and 1200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton (561) 998-8868.

Down here in South Florida, you don’t get away with opening 3 joints in record time, without having the goods…Palm Beach’s bagles/bialys are terrific… not to mention delicious appetizing, deli meats, sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads.

Palm Beach Bagel’s 3 locations are open 7 days a week from 7am-3pm.
