Burger King to Test Plant-Based Nuggets in the U.S.
The Impossible Nuggets will be available in Des Moines, Iowa, Boston, and Miami.
FAST FOOD | OCTOBER 6, 2021 | BEN COLEY
Burger King Impossible Nuggets.
BURGER KING
Burger King described the Impossible Nuggets as having a ‘golden-brown crispy breading on the outside and a tender, juicy bite on the inside.’
Burger King is continuing its big year of menu news with the testing of plant-based Impossible Nuggets and the nationwide LTO release of Ghost Pepper Nuggets.
The chain will be the first quick-service restaurant to test nuggets from Impossible Foods when the product launches in Des Moines, Iowa, Boston, and Miami on October 11. The move comes about two and a half years after Burger King first tested the Impossible Whopper in 59 restaurants across St. Louis. The brand rolled out the item nationwide four months later. In June 2020, the company released the Impossible Croissan’wich sandwich across the country after a successful test earlier that year in certain markets.
Burger King described the Impossible Nuggets as having a “golden-brown crispy breading on the outside and a tender, juicy bite on the inside.” The item will be available in an eight-piece order with customers’ choice of dipping sauce. Burger King denoted that the nuggets are cooked in the same oil as meat and cheese products.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve teamed up with Impossible to make waves in the industry. In 2019, we became the first quick-service restaurant to serve the award-winning, plant-based Impossible patty and offer the iconic Impossible Whopper,” said Ellie Doty, CMO of Burger King North America, in a statement. “So, it’s only fitting we’re the first global [quick-service restaurant] to test the Impossible Nuggets. We’re excited to hear what our guests in the test markets think of this latest innovation.”
The fast-food giant does have experience with plant-based nuggets outside the U.S. In September 2020, VegNews reported Burger King added plant-based nuggets to menus across Germany. The product was manufactured by The Vegetarian Butcher in Holland, a company acquired by Unilever in 2018. The nuggets were soy-based and offered with vegan dipping sauces, such as ketchup, barbecue sauce, and sweet and sour sauce.
The Ghost Pepper Chicken Nuggets—released in conjunction with the Halloween season—are made with white meat chicken and “kicked up with fiery ghost pepper.” Members of Burger King’s Royal Perks loyalty program will have initial access, marking the first time the company has given loyalty customers an exclusive first look at a new item. Burger King is the second quick-service chain this year to leverage the spicy allure of ghost peppers. During the summer, Wendy’s launched a new Ghost Pepper Ranch sauce to pair with its Spicy Chicken Nuggets.
The nuggets innovations follow the June launch of Burger King’s signature Ch’King chicken sandwich, a product that brand had worked on since 2019. Jose Cil, CEO of Burger King parent Restaurant Brands International, said the chicken sandwich continued to show healthy volumes, doubling the number of the previous chicken sandwich.
The multiple pieces of menu innovation are part of a larger turnaround strategy that Cil revealed in early August. The CEO wants to place more focus on priorities that will produce the largest impact and quicken the pace in which it does so.
“We’re at our best when we have a balanced approach with a strong focus on core, with premium products that drive check, but at the same time having a balanced approach on value. That continues to be the long-term view of the business,” Cil told analysts two months ago. “I’ve seen the opportunity in the near-term as I’ve spent time with the team and speaking with franchisees and getting a better handle on what opportunities for acceleration we have.”

***** Miller’s Ale House, 1200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 988-9142.
Jeff Eats is gonna take a shot here and “think” that you guys know what Miller’s Ale House is! If not- sports bar chain that currently has 51 joints in Florida, 1 in Georgia, 2 in Illinois, 1 in Maryland, 1 in Massachusetts, 2 in Nevada, 3 in New Jersey, 6 in New York, 1 in Ohio, 4 in Pennsylvania. You can check millersalehouse.com for locations/ menu/ prices/ operating hours/ info.
Way-back on July 12, 2008 Jeff Eats told you-about the Miller’s Ale House in Jupiter, Florida. In 2008 I described the joint’s food as being okay and perfectly priced! That tale is reprinted down-below.
If you guys can keep a secret, since that 7/12/2008 tale printed (until this past Monday) Jeff Eats hadn’t been back “to” a Miller’s Ale House. No particular reason, just hadn’t been back!
Long story short, this past Monday- Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Son Jeff Eats and Daughter Jeff Eats ate dinner at the Miller’s Ale House on Yamato Road in Boca Raton- and I gotta tell you, we had an absolutely great-time. Rather than bother you guys telling you -that this location has a separate bar area/booth/table seating, more flat screen tvs than you can count, a covered out door patio with its own bar, a menu loaded with appetizers- burgers- salads-wings- entrees- desserts- beers- booze…let me tell you that the fried calamari, chicken Caesar salad, chicken nachos, breaded boneless garlic wings, grilled teriyaki wings, bbq baby back ribs, bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, French fries that we ordered were all delicious.
Look! I don’t know about your family, but getting the members of Jeff Eats’ immediate family to agree on virtually anything- is a monumental task. With that in mind, last night-all four of us agreed that the food killed, that the prices were super reasonable and that the service was as competent/pleasant as could be!
As I mentioned a few seconds ago, Jeff Eats hadn’t been to a Miller’s Ale House in something like 7 1/2 years! All I can tell you guys- the joint was absolute dynamite! If the other 71 Miller’s are like the Yamato Road outpost- you now know about a sports bar “chain” that really has its act together- and is an absolute must try!
Miller’s Ale House is open Sunday 11am-midnight, Monday-Saturday 11am-2am.

***** Miller’s Jupiter Ale House, 126 Center Street, Jupiter, Florida 33458 (561) 746-7620
Miller’s owns and operates a “ton” and I do mean a “ton” of sports-bars/ale houses in South Florida. Check millersalehouse.com for locations/menu/prices/hours.
Miller’s joints all take on a local name…in Boca Raton, the joint is the Boca Ale House…in Jupiter the joint is the Jupiter Ale House…in Coral Springs the joint is the Coral Springs Ale House…so on and so forth.
Over the years, I have eaten in a number of Miller’s South Florida locations…my most recent meal being in the Jupiter Ale House 3 weeks ago. All of the Ale Houses look alike…big bar area, tvs galore, small game room, wood booths. The menus are the same…tons of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and entrees…something for everybody. Just so you know, the food is okay- not great…(operative word) OKAY… The prices are cheap…that’s the game…like a 20 oz. bone-in porterhouse steak with french fries for something like 10 bucks.
I have to tell you, that every so often, I really enjoy a grizzly-steak covered in grilled onions and french fries drenched in ketchup that costs $9.99…Sort of reminds me of Tad’s Broiled Steaks (you- New Yorkers know what I am talking about) circa 1960.
The Ale Houses are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Like I said, okay food priced perfectly.
By the way…some of you may not know, but Tad’s Broiled Steaks currently has a location at 152 West 34th Street, New York, New York 10001 (212) 630-0318…those were the days.

“One Night in Memphis” is a rocking concert tribute to legendary Sun Records recording artists Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley. Over 90 minutes of rockabilly, country, gospel and pure 1950’s rock and roll music performed live and backed by an authentic and energetic rockabilly backup band. Created and directed by John Mueller from the highly acclaimed show, “Winter Dance Party” this show has met with the same accolades, sell out shows and audience standing ovations. Be a witness to a rock and roll royalty jam session with the music and talent that has stood the test of time. True American music featuring the hits, “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Whole lotta Shaking Going On,” “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Hound Dog,” and many, many more with acclaimed national talent, all performed live without tracks and guaranteed to get any audience rocking and rolling! Cast includes former members of the touring company and Broadway cast of Million Dollar Quartet.
On December 4th, 1956 music history was made. This date found Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley together at Sun Record’s studio in Memphis, TN. A jam session ensued which seems to have happened by pure chance. Perkins, who by this time had already met success with “Blue Suede Shoes”, had come into the studio that day, accompanied by his brothers Clayton and Jay and by drummer W.S. Holland, to cut some new material, including a revamped version of an old blues song, “Matchbox”. Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Records, who wished to try to fatten this sparse rockabilly instrumentation, had brought in his latest acquisition, singer and piano man extraordinaire Jerry Lee Lewis, still unknown outside Memphis, to play piano on the Perkins session.
Sometime in the early afternoon, Elvis Presley, a former Sun artist himself but now at RCA, dropped in to pay a casual visit. He was, at the time, the biggest name in show business, having hit the top of the singles charts five times, and topping the album charts twice in the preceding 12-month period. Less than four months earlier, he had appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, pulling an unheard of 83% of the television audience, which was estimated at 55 million, the largest in history up to that time.
After chatting with Philips in the control room, Presley listened to the playback of Perkins’ session, which he pronounced to be good. Then he went out into the studio and sometime later the jam session began. At some point during the session, Sun artist Johnny Cash, who had recently enjoyed a few hits on the country charts, popped in. Cowboy Jack Clement was engineering that day and remembers saying to himself “I think I’d be remiss not to record this” and so he did, and the night became rock and roll music history. Many famous artists such as Bob Dylan recall listening to these recordings and being tremendously inspired by.
