Got an absolutely dynamite coal fired pizza joint for you guys to checkout, Ah-Beetz New Haven Pizza in Delray Beach.

Real simple tale to tell, last week Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” (1 eat-in/ 1- takeout) Ah-Beetz New Haven Pizza (which opened something like 3 months ago) and its food totally- blew us away! The no-frills joint has 2- tables (for 4) inside and a handful of tables outside. Reasonably priced pizzas/ calzones/ salads/ wings menu.

Now, you guys know, or should know by know- that this food reviewing “gig” is purely a subjective call…what I like, you may hate and vice versa!

With that in mind, I gotta tell you that the coal oven-pizzas/ calzone/ chicken wings, salads that we ordered- rank right-up there with the best that we’ve eaten here in Florida!

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you, Ah-Beetz New Haven Pizza is an absolute must try joint!

Got a real good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you guys to check-out, Aunt Lulu’s NY Style Pizza & Kitchen in Boca Raton.

Real simple tale to tell- last night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Aunt Lulu’s NY Style Pizza & Kitchen (located in a requisite bombed-out South Florida strip center) and I gotta tell you guys- that the joint’s food was- delicious! Inside table seating/ small handful of outdoor tables, reasonably priced menu featuring appetizers/ soups/ salads/ pizzas/ calzones/ strombolis/ hot & cold subs/ wings/ entrees/ desserts/ other stuff!

Like I said 2- seconds ago, the joint’s food was absolutely delicious…

Last but surely not least, Aunt Lulu’s wait and back of the house staff was off-the-chart good! Despite the masks, dine-in orders and loads of take-out orders, the crew was extremely competent and super-pleasant in taking care of business!

Got a terrific- Chinese joint for you guys to checkout, Golden Rice Bowl Chinese Restaurant in Lauderdale Lakes.

Applying Jeff Eats’ Jewish American Brooklyn Chinese Food Taste Test circa 1957- I gotta rate Golden Rice Bowl as one of the best Florida- Chinese joints that I’ve eaten in during the past 25 years!

As for the lay of the land, Golden Rice Bowl is basically a hole in the wall take-out joint that has something like 6 tables (4-tops) in the rear of the store and a counter (you can watch the cooks-cook) that seats 6 if you want to eat there. The joint’s menu has the full boat of expected appetizers like egg rolls and bbq ribs- as well as lunch and dinner combination plates and early bird specials. On the price-and portion fronts, neighborhood Chinese joint prices and big portions.

Long story short, this past Saturday night- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “countered” it at Golden Rice Bowl and its food was off the chart delicious! Let me also add, that the waitress who served us was as pleasant as could be!

Like I told you guys at the start of this essay, definitely some of the best Chinese food I’ve eaten down here in Florida during the past 25 years.

Golden Rice Bowl Chinese Restaurant is open a Monday-Thursday 11:30am-10pm, Friday 11:30am-11pm, Saturday noon-11pm, closed Sunday.

Three months ago my husband and I retired and moved from Plainview, New York to Hunter’s Run Country Club in Boynton Beach.

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Chris’ gyro wrap is off the chart-it is absolutely delicious. Just so you know, the original Chris’ review (5/21/10) has a different address listed-when Jeff Eats first “tried” Chris’ it was a small hole in the wall, the new location is in the same shopping center and seats a ton of people inside and on an outdoor patio. Without any hesitation, Jeff Eats will tell you, Chris’ Taverna is one of the best Greek restaurants in South Florida.

Chris’ Taverna is a GREEK RESTAURANT…maybe 20 formica tables inside, 20 outside. You can order at/pickup at the counter…or you can be fancy and have a waitress/waiter take care of you. Menu/prices/loads of photos at www.christaverna.com. This is strictly a shorts/tee shirt ensemble kinda-joint.

Now…and I really mean this, outrageously delicious food. I have to rank the Greek salad ($8.95), gyro entree ($11.95-2 sides), souvlaki entree ($11.95-2 sides), grilled baby lamb chops entree ($20.95, 5 chops-2 sides) right up there with the best that I’ve had in a Greek joint.

Really, that simple.
