***** Lucille’s American Café, 2250 Weston Road, Weston, Florida 33326, (954) 384-9007.
This is what you might call an “out of sight, out of mind” story…
Way back on June 27, 2008 Jeff Eats told you guys about a terrific- American Style joint named Lucille’s American Café in Weston. For our purposes, the operative word in the last sentence is WESTON…nothing for nothing, trust me, Weston is a “big” ride from the Eats’ Boca Raton residence…thus the “out of sight, out of mine” tag.
Anyway, yesterday-after a tough day of shopping with Mrs. Jeff Eats at Sawgrassa /8/23Mills in Sunrise, we ate dinner at Lucille’s American Café which is about 10 minutes south. Suffice it to say, Lucille’s is the same terrific joint that it was back in 2008…I’m telling you, that if Lucille’s was closer to my home-Jeff Eats would be a real-and I do mean-real steady customer. But what is, is!
You guys who live or work in Lucille’s neighborhood- have a winner on your hands…if you haven’t eaten there, make it your business to catch lunch or dinner…my money says you won’t be disappointed.
You can now read Jeff Eats’ 7/27/2008 writeup, but before you do…
Lucille’s is open Monday-Thursday 11am-9;30pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10:30pm, Sunday 10am-9pm.
You can check its menu/prices at lucillescafe.com.

Before I start yapping about Lucille’s American Cafe, do yourself a favor and check its website at www.lucillescafe.com for menu/pricing and other details about this 1940’s style diner.
This joint is terrific. It looks like a real 1940’s in-line diner. It has all of the “blue plate specials” that 1940’s diners had plus a “million” other things. It has great food. Large portions. Terrific wait-staff. Very reasonable prices. I absolutely love this joint’s meatloaf, chicken pot pie and country fried steak.
Lucille’s is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner

***** Straight From New York Bagels, 4550 Executive Drive, Naples, Florida 34119, (239) 596-9933.
Got a real good- order at/pickup at the counter bagel joint for you…Straight From New York Bagels in Naples.
Real simple menu…bagels, pastries, breakfast stuff, salads, sandwiches.
Since the joint is “called” Straight From New York Bagels–let’s chat first about the mixed dozen I got…everything/asiago/pumpernickle/onion/garlic—Straight From New York Bagels’ dozen =15 bagels for 15 bucks. The bagels were kettle boiled and then baked. Straight From New York Bagels were good, actually real good—so as for the bagel-front, the joint was strong. Now, as for Straight From New York Bagels’ pastrami-corned beef-chicken salad and tuna salad–I am pleased to report, that everything was delicious–actually, I’d rate each listed item right-up there with the best that I’ve had in Florida’s bagel bakeries/restaurants.
You can check menu/prices at straightfromny.com.

Wingstop is a real-easy concept to comprehend… non breaded wings, breaded boneless wings, breaded white meat chicken strips…9 flavors…handful of sides.
A recent outing had me trying—breaded wings/breaded strips/boneless wings/french fries…hawaiian, teriyaki, garlic parmesan flavors. Loved all of the offerings/flavors. Also really enjoyed the fresh hand cut french fries. From what I can tell, everthing is made to order…the stuff came out of the kitchen piping hot.
If you like wings and fries, you’ll like this joint.
Like I said, there are 7 joints in our area, so check Wingstop’s website for a close-by location and its hours.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Biergarten in 2012- and I gotta tell you guys, that we have been steady customers ever since! Just between us- it’s one of South Florida’s best sports bars- serves off the chart delicious food, features a line-up of top notch bands/ entertainment/ events and has great service.
This joint is an absolute must try!

***** Biergarten, 309 Via de Palmas, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, (561) 395-7462.
Last Saturday night around 10pm my wife and I- and another couple stopped by a German “bar-restaurant”—Biergarten in Boca Raton. The joint has indoor seating/huge outdoor patio seating. Real simple concept–tons of different beers, wines, specialty drinks—menu loaded with appetizers, burgers, salads, sandwiches, tacos, German style wursts-schnitzels-and other dishes—local bands and djs. The joint looks like “what” I guess a German beer garden in Germany is suppose to look like and the staff wears’ German beer garden costumes (I think!) You can check menu/prices at www.biergartenboca.com.
What a cool place!. It was JAMMED and I do mean JAMMED! I’m gonna bet here, that half the crowd was FAU/Lynn students. Although it was approaching “my” bedtime, I still “tried” a steak slider, bbq pork slider, pastrami slider, kielbasa, potato pancakes—and I’m telling you straight up, the food was absolutely dynamite. Absolutely some of the best “bar” stuff I’ve had in a very very long time. A great dj was spinning all-types of music and I understand that the bands that work the joint, play classic rock, reggae and new stuff.
Suffice it to say, the “kids” there were having an absolute blast–and us 4 old geezers did the same. Boy! If Ithaca, New York had a joint like Biergarten back in 1966-1970–just maybe, I wouldn’t have been so anxious to graduate from Ithaca College-to get back to Brooklyn. In all fairness, Bobby Comstock & The Counts was a great band, but if memory serves me right, the food at the Dewitt Clinton Hotel where they worked- wasn’t even in the same breath as Biergarten’s grub.
Biergarten hasn’t been around for very long. I’m guessing here, but I think something like 6 months. The joint is located in the “Pink Plaza” in Boca Raton…the spot that it’s in- has over the years-housed more restaurants than you can shake a stick at. I maybe going out on a limb here, but I think that the landlord has finally found a long-term tenant.
Let me close by saying, no matter how old or for that matter young you are—you gotta try Biergarten.
Biergarten is open Sunday-Monday 11am-midnight, Tuesday-Saturday 11am-2am.

Jeff Eats first “reviewed” The Boys Farmers Market on 5/6/2009.
That review is reprinted below.
It is now some 5 1/2 years later- and I just wanted to tell -new as well as old- Jeff Eats’ readers that I LOVE this joint-and if you live or work anywhere-near The Boys Farmers Market make it your business to shop there…trust me, you will be thrilled that you did!

***** The Boys Farmers Market, 14378 Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484 (561) 496-8123.
If you can “handle” its parking-lot…with senior citizens “backing in and backing out” non-stop…The Boys Farmers Market is an absolutely great place to shop for fruits, fresh squeezed juices, vegetables, baked goods, cheeses, wines, candies, seafood, meats, coffees and prepared chicken/seafood/meat dishes.
Just guessing here, but The Boys’ probably has something like 30,000 square feet of indoor space jammed with top quality FOOD. All the free samples that you’d like…and everything sold, runs circles around joints like Publix, Winn Dixie and Albertsons, not to mention-probably cheaper.
My family has been shopping at The Boys Farmers Market for years…and I have been amazed by two things…namely, that we have never been involved in a fender-bender in its parking lot & the great stuff that it sells.
The Boys has its own bakery, squeezes its own juices and prepares its own “take out” food. This joint is an absolute-winner. If you live in the Delray Beach area, you probably already know about The Boys…for those of you who don’t, you got to go shopping there…just be careful in the parking lot.

Just between Jeff Eats and you guys, I knew that one day my 2 years of Junior High School/ 4 years of High School/ 2 years of College Spanish courses would come in handy!
A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a
brand-new BMW advanced out of the dust cloud towards him. The driver, a
young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie,
leaned out the window and asked the shepherd… “If I tell you exactly how
many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?” The shepherd
looked at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looked at his peacefully
grazing flock and calmly answered “sure”.
The yuppie parked his car, whipped out his IBM ThinkPad and connected it
to a cell phone, then he surfed to a NASA page on the internet where he
called up a GPS satellite navigation system, scanned the area, and then
opened up a database and an Excel spreadsheet with complex formulas.
He sent an email on his iPad and, after a few minutes, received a
response. Finally, he printed out a 130-page report on his miniaturized
printer then turn to the shepherd and said, “You have exactly 1586 sheep.
“That is correct; take one of the sheep.” said the shepherd. He watched
the young man select one of the animals and bundle it into his car.
Then the shepherd said: “If I can tell you exactly what your business is,
will you give me back my animal?”, “OK, why not.” answered the young man.
“Clearly, you are a consultant.” said the shepherd. “That’s correct.” said
the yuppie, “but how did you guess that?” “No guessing required.” answered
the shepherd. “You turned up here although nobody called you. You wanted to
get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked, and
you don’t know crap about my business…… Now give me back my dog.
