Brothers of Brooklyn (Miami Lakes)

Posted on July 30th, 2009 · American Breakfast Delicatessen Miami Lakes

***** Brothers of Brooklyn, 1547 Northwest 77th Court, Miami Lakes, Florida 33016 (305) 362-6292.

Brothers of Brooklyn is a “bagel-deli” joint…it is open 7 days a week for breakfast-lunch 7am-3:30pm. I’m not gonna describe its decor, if you are 3+ years old, you know exactly what this type of joint looks like. I am not exactly sure how long Brothers has been around, but I have been eating there since 1991. I’m gonna bet that I’ve had breakfast there something like 30 times.

Just so we are straight…Brothers is a neighborhood-type joint. There is absolutely-positively nothing “gourmet” here…so if you are looking for top-notch pastrami/corned beef/brisket this joint ain’t for you. Brothers is the “borderline seedy” (in the good sense) joint where you go for a “standard” cup of coffee-scambled eggs with bacon and a toasted everything with a schmear. Nothing more, nothing less.

Brothers is my kind of a joint. Plain…Simple…Easy Going.

Sid: Just had a chance to read your post. Yes, I have heard about this “new” joint and have already pre-opening tried some of its stuff. Pretty decent. The joint opened for business this morning at 6am…in the near future I will do a full “taste test” and give you guys a full story.

    Thanks for reading…

I worked at ( Brother’s for a few years in the early 90’s. . Jeff you are right on the money dude, the place isn’t fancy , and that’s what makes it a great place to eat a good meal, it is indeed a local bagel joint, Cris and Donna run the place just like old man Speiler taught us, it was because of Big Al Spieler that I became the cook I am today, all the food there is fresh and prepared as it should be. I highly recommend (Brother’s)I have to disagree on one thing you said, the Pastrami’s and corned beef’s are top notch quality, at least they were when I was there.

Anyway, for about 5 bucks you can get a made to order ” REAL” ingredients meal extremely fast and tasty. Try that at a Denny’s right?

I also worked at a Denny’s back in the day, you don’t want to know what goes on in those places!

    Happy eating.

Dale the Whale was a cook for Big Al back in the 80s and 90s and knew first hand about the quality and value of eating at Brothers of Brooklyn Bagels restaurant.Big Al taught myself and all his workers to give customers only the best value for the dollar. where else could you get 2 eggs and bagel for .99 cents.the corned beef sandwiches are the best in town, his crab salad is untouchable.the atmosphere at the store is like family.the breakfast menu is the most economical in town, perfect for a family man.you only win when you dine at Brother of Brooklyn bagels restaurant.Mss you much Big Al,best boss ever

    Big Al!
How I wish I had the framed navy picture of him that hung on the wall of the restaraunt, great place, great food, great prices.
I would like to pay my respects to him if anybody know where his final port of call is located,
I remember there were 4 or 5 brothers locations at one time
    How much I miss them!
