Simple tale to tell, a few weeks ago, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats saw a TV news story on WPTV (wptv.com) about a young fireman, Jordan Thomas who had beaten cancer- but unfortunately, the battle had cost him his eyesight! The story revealed- that the fireman’s life long passion was cooking and how he and his wife had recently opened a pizza/family restaurant named Twisted Tomato in Delray Beach with Jordan serving as head-chef/ his wife as receptionist & general manager/ several family members as waiters & waitresses.

The other night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats checked the joint out and I gotta tell you that its food was absolute dynamite! Inside table/booth seating, outside covered patio table seating, reasonably priced menu of appetizers/ pizzas/ pastas/ hot & cold subs/ sandwiches/ Italian entrees/ wings/ burgers/ soups/ salads/ cheesesteaks/ seafood baskets. Trust Jeff Eats on this one, everyone in your party will “find what to eat.”

Let’s wrap Twisted Tomato up by saying, this joint is an absolute must try! The joint is open Tuesday-Thursday 11m-9pm/ Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm/ closed Sunday-Monday. Here’s another Jeff Eats’ “out of sight, out of mind” joint..Mayor’s Cafe & Bagel Emporium in Pembroke Pines.

First told you guys about Mayor’s on June 3, 2013- hadn’t been back until yesterday when Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats did breakfast- scrambled eggs with American cheese/bacon on a plain bagel, French toast/scrambled eggs with American cheese/bacon, corned beef hash and I gotta tell you, it’s a shame that this joint isn’t closer to my Boca Raton neighborhood- ’cause if it was, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats would be real steady customers! The food was absolutely delicious and the service as pleasant as can be. By the way, we also took home a mixed dozen of bagels (onion, everything, sesame, pumpernickel) and like the breakfast stuff- they were all right on the money!

Hopefully you live, work or play closer to Mayor’s Cafe & Bagel Emporium than Jeff Eats does.

The other day Jeff Eats and a couple of buddies had lunch at Mayor’s Cafe in Pembroke Pines…not sure as to the exact history of this joint, but it’s owned by Frank C. Ortis who is the current Mayor of the City Of Pembroke Pines, thus the name–Mayor’s. Not sure here, but I think Mayor’s opened give-or-take in Jaburay 2012. Just curious, what happens to the joint’s name, when Ortis is no longer Mayor? Does it become Former Mayor’s Cafe, Recently Defeated Mayor’s Cafe, Recently Retired Mayor’s Cafe, Recently Deceased Mayor’s Cafe, Former Mayor Now State Senator Mayor’s Cafe? As you can see, the possibilities are endless and I’m sure–knowing you guys-that you can come up with some real beauties…Anyway.

At this stage of the dialogue you can check www.themayorscafe.com for menu/prices. The site also has a load of pictures so you’ll know eactly what the joint looks like…tables/chairs long appetizing counter.

Now- nothing for nothing, Mayor Ortis’ got a real good restaurant running here… fast- competent servers, reasonable prices—all kinds of bagels, breakfast stuff, salads, sandwiches, burgers. Question for those who live/work in Pembroke Pines…Does he run the City as competently?

A recent outing had Jeff Eats trying a western omelette, french toast with strawberries, chicken salad on/everything bagel, tuna salad on/pumpernickel bagel. I will tell you, eveything was delicious–and the bagels were really good. Not sure how Mayor’s makes theirs—but they seem to be of boiled/then baked breed.

Jeff Eats really enjoyed Mayor’s Cafe.

Subway will give out $50,000 in gift cards and they’ll even cover the legal fees associated with the name change

Subway fanatics have a chance to win free subs for life, there’s just one small catch.

The sandwich chain announced that it would supply one Subway super-fan with a lifetime supply of free subs if they agree to legally change their first name to “Subway.”

Between August 1 and August 4, SubwayNameChange.com will be open to enter for a chance to win the subs. The winner will be chosen by random drawing on August 7.

According to the official contest rules, the lifetime supply of subs will come in the form of a one time payment of $50,000 in Subway gift cards. Additionally, the company will provide the winner $750 to help cover the legal fees associated with the name change.

Got a real good sub joint for you guys to check-out, Paul’s Italian Deli and Restaurant in Kissimmee.

Simple tale to tell, yesterday afternoon Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and six old friends from our Brooklyn Days (who now live in Orlando) ate lunch at Paul’s Italian Deli and Restaurant and the joint’s food blew us all away! Order/pick-up at the counter, indoor table seating, reasonably priced hot & cold subs/ salads/ hot Italian dishes/ desserts menu.

Now! You guys all know that this food reviewing “gig” is purely a subjective exercise…you know, what I like, you may hate and vice versa!

With that in mind, I gotta tell you- that Paul’s Italian Deli and Restaurant ranks right up there with Florida’s best sub joints!

The truth be told, the 6- “Orlandoians” are “regulars” at Paul’s Italian Deli and Restaurant picked-up the bill for Jeff Eats and Mrs. Eats! Free food or not free, if Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats lived in the Orlando/Kissimmee area we definitely would be real steady customers of Paul’s Italian Deli and Restaurant.

Paul’s Italian Deli and Restaurant is open Monday-Friday 9am-4pm/ Saturday 10am-3pm/ closed Sunday.

Inside table/ booth/ bar seating, full liquor bar, open kitchen, reasonably priced menu of appetizers/ salads/ pastas/ pizzas/ paninis/ desserts.

Now you guys all know, or should know by now, that this food reviewing “gig” is purely a subjective call- you know, what I like, you may hate and vice versa! With this in mind, I am telling you guys that Heritage’s food is dynamite and that the joint is an absolute must try.

Bella Monte Italian Deli is a small “Italian Market”…takeout subs/salads/soups—packaged items/meats. The joint is located in Pompano Beach.

Not sure how you say this…FUGETABOUTIT!! Absolutely amazing subs– Recently “tested” meatball, chicken cutlet parm, chicken salad, hot roast beef.

I am telling you, if you like-love good subs, Bella Monte Italian Deli’s stuff is right up there with South Florida’s best.
