For our purposes we’re gonna call GG’s of New York an “out of sight, out of mind” mom & pop Italian red sauce joint.

image

Jeff Eats first told you guys about GG’s way-back on July 24, 2008. The truth be told, hadn’t been back-until last night when Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple did dinner! Why the hiatus- you guys got me there, just forget about the joint!

Real simple tale to tell you, GG’s is right up there with the best mom & pop red sauce joints down here in Sunny South Florida.

Let me wrap this baby up for you guys- delicious food, large portions, reasonable prices, super pleasant service- makes GG’s of New York a joint that Jeff Eats “won’t” forget about again!

***** GG’s of New York, 5440 N. State Road 7, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33319 (954) 484-0400.

You know and I know, that South Florida has more “mom and pop” Italian joints “than you can shake a stick at.” Some are good…some are lousy…some are terrific…and some are just okay.

GG’s is a red-sauce “mom and pop” Italian joint…for the purpose of this exercise, let’s rate it REAL GOOD.

Over the years, I have eaten in GG’s something like 10 times. Real good pizza, pastas, veal-meat-chicken-seafood entrees. You know the game here…garlic rolls, salad, entree with a pasta/vegetable side.

Take a look at GG’s website www.ggsofny.com for menu/pricing/details. What I especially like about this joint, is that it has a very extensive menu…it is absolutely loaded with appetizers, subs, soups, salads, pastas, pizzas, entrees and desserts…you will definitely find something to eat at GG’s.

To be perfectly honest with you, GG’s is probably as good if not better than 90% of the “mom and pop” red sauce joints that I have eaten in…and trust me, there have been a ton of them. GG’s is not close to my home…if it were, I would eat there more often.

If you live in GG’s neighborhood…this is a real good joint to know about.

GG’s is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

Stand-up comedy veteran Michael Wheels Parise has been making people laugh now for over 29 years. Once known for being Americas top fat comedians in the 90’s, Wheels has decided to go from fat to fit, losing 160 lbs and re-inventing himself.

Michael Wheels Parise has been touring with the most controversial comedian of our time, Andrew Dice Clay, for over 28 years. Starting his colorful career in 1987 in Brooklyn NY. at PIPs Comedy Club, he soon became the club favorite and making it his home. That is where comedian Andrew Dice Clay found him and the rest is comedy history. In 1990 Wheels costarred in the concert film “DICE RULES” where he played Dr. Slaughter. Wheels moved to the West Coast in 1990 and soon became a regular at the Laugh Factory and a favorite at the World Famous Comedy Store where his name is on the Comedy Wall of Fame. Wheels started touring with Dice and opening for him nationally on the arena tour back in 1989. In 1993 Wheels did the “No Apologies” special at Westbury Music Fair which was televised on pay Per View, Wheels ended up with a standing ovation in front to 5000 people that night and that was the night he became a headliner in his own right. Wheels has worked with Rodney Dangerfield in the movie “Meet Wally Sparks”, The Movie, “A Low Down Dirty Shame” with Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jada Pinkett Smith, costarred in the movie “Back to Back” with Michael Rooker and Bobcat Goldthwait and was featured in the movie “Chasing Destiny” with Lauren Graham and Christopher Lloyd… and the list goes on. Michael Wheels Parise also costarred as himself on the Reality Show, “Dice Undisputed” on VH1 in 2009. Wheels Parise is not shy when he decides to tell you what’s on his mind and he does it with enough grace and poise that you cannot help getting sucked into his comedy mind.
Michael Wheels Parise is one of Las Vegas’s top headlining comedians, he spent a one year residence at the Rio Hotel and Casino, his show Wheels Live was written up as the best comedy show in Vegas by the Las Vegas Review Journal. Wheels was the last headliner to perform at the famous Riviera Comedy Club the closing week where he taped his hit CD, “Driving you crazy” produced by Laughing Hyena Productions and is available in stores as well as iTunes. Still working with Andrew Dice Clay in Las Vegas and also headlining the Las Vegas stages on his own, The Laugh Factory in the Tropicana, and The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino are just a few of the places in Las Vegas where you can catch him. Michael Wheels Parise is currently starring in a SHOWTIME Special called Andrew Dice Clay Presents…The Blue Show, airing now. Coming in the spring of 2016 Michael Wheels Parise joins the cast as a Guest Star in the new series, “DICE” airing on SHOWTIME. Drew Lynch (Palm Beach IMPROV- West Palm Beach)

* Drew Lynch.

Goldstar.com has a bunch of $10 “discount” tickets listed for comedian Drew Lynch’s- June 30th & July 1st appearances at the Palm Beach IMPROV.

If you don’t know who Lynch is- he is the comedian (with the pronounced stutter) who came in 2nd last year on tv’s America’s Got Talent program.

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, based on Lynch’s AGT television appearances, there is absolutely no way that I could comfortably handle a 50-60 minute set of his “stutter” or his “material”- not trying to be nasty or nothing, but the way I see it, this guy’s 50-60 minute act sans the stutter is in reality -probably something like 10-11 minutes long!

That said, based on Lynch’s “runner-up” finish- there are apparently a whole-lot of people out there who totally disagree with Jeff Eats…

If you happen to be one of those folks…

image

from goldstar.com

In case you missed his tear-jerking (and yet totally hysterical) appearance on last year’s totally hysterical) appearance on last year’s America’s Got Talent, you should know that comedian Drew Lynch is officially one of the country’s most buzzed-about comedians. When a stray softball damaged his vocal cords so severely he was left with a permanent stutter, Lynch refused to give up on his dream of performing. Since then he’s developed a style of comedy as inspiring as it is hilarious. See him live as he headlines the Palm Beach Improv.

By the way, if Jeff Eats gotta tell you who Vince Neil is, it’s time for you to scroll to another Jeff Eats’ story!

The Skinny:

Vince Neil – The Legendary Voice of Motley Crue
Concert Date: Saturday, June 18 at 8pm (Gates open 7pm)
Ticket prices: $35-$75
Box Office: theamppompano.org & goldstar.com (discount tickets)

The legendary front man of Mötley Crüe is coming to Pompano! His unmistakable voice lead some of the greatest rock songs of this generation including “Shout At The Devil,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Kickstart My Heart,” “Same Ol Situation,” and “Saints of Los Angeles.” Opening for Neil will be hard rock icons, Great White.

Vince Neil will be singing all of his classic hits at The Amp, from both his years with Mötley Crüe and his three solo albums. The badass performer is also working on new music, and he has hinted about performing some of it during this tour.

“I’ll say that we are recording some stuff for a new record this year,” he said in a Loudwire interview in January. “You often hear some surprises at our shows. I don’t want to give away some of those surprises…The music is exciting. It’s good, fun, nasty, raw energy and goods songs.”

Neil has also signed on to be a contestant on the upcoming season of The Celebrity Apprentice, which will feature new host Arnold Schwarzenegger.

A respected philanthropist, Neil established The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation (www.skylarneil.org), as tribute to his daughter whom he lost to cancer in 1995, the organization has raised over $2 million to help combat childhood cancer.

Opening for Neil is Great White, a band whose sound has captivated audiences worldwide with crushing blues-based guitar riffs and swagger that invokes an emotional high for anyone who listens. The band’s core writing team of Michael Lardie and Mark Kendall forged numerous hits over the years, and when Audie Desbrow joined in ’85, the grooves hooked an amazing stride. For nearly a decade, Scott Snyder has merged his unforgiving rhythm to Desbrow’s relentless percussion. And, in 2011, Terry Ilous’ feverish energy and far-stretching vocals melted perfectly into the Great White mold.

The band has sold 10 million albums worldwide, had has six Top 100 Billboard hits, nine Top 200 Billboard albums, two platinum albums. At The Amp show, Great White will be performing all their classic hits including, “Once Bitten , Twice Shy,” “ Rock Me,” “Mista Bone,” “ Save Your Love,” “ Lady Red Light,” “ Something for You,” “Hard to Say Goodbye” and more.

The legendary 60’s Rock N Roll bands Tommy James & The Shondells and The Grass Roots are set to play the Pompano Beach Amphitheater- Saturday, June 11th (8pm).

If this guy gets elected, is he gonna wear that hat on the bench!

Just wondering- if Blumstein who is an officer in the US Navy Reserve – was for example, a Roman Catholic Priest- do you think this advertisement would feature him posed wearing his clerical collar?

Just wondering!

***** Yummy House, 22012 West Waters Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33604, (813) 915-2828.

For our purposes Jeff Eats is gonna call this Yummy House story…

“A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT”

Just so you guys don’t think that Jeff Eats has gone senile or something, I know that I’ve already told you about this joint twice (1/30/14 & 7/5/15)-all I can tell you- is that Yummy House’s food is so-good that…

Anyway,

Last night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats ate at the Yummy House and the egg rolls, pan fried dumplings, sesame chicken, orange pork chops, roast pork fried rice were all-off the the chart delicious!

image

image

image

Take it from Jeff Eats, Yummy House is an absolute must try!

_________

***** Yummy House, 2202 West Waters Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33604, (813) 915-2828.

Go figure!

Some of the best Cantonese Chinese food that Jeff Eats has ever eaten- is being served up by Yummy House–a “typical” mom & pop-decor Chinese joint in Tampa.

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, I’d match Yummy’s–eggrolls, wonton soup, fried dumplings, bbq ribs, kung po shrimp, hong kong roast duck, sesame chicken, orange pork chops, roast pork fried rice -up-against the best joints that I’ve eaten in/taken out-anywhere in Florida-not to mention New York City and San Francisco’s Chinatowns.

I ain’t playing here…amazing delicious food, huge portions at real reasonable prices.

Just as a point of reference, Jeff Eats knows that there are a boat-load of you guys who swear by Silver Pond in Tamarac—Yummy House’s food v. Silver Pond’s food, would be like having matched Joe Louis in his prime against your 87 year old Uncle Joey (by marriage to you Aunt Marlene) who has glaucoma in both eyes…I know, overly dramatic, but definitely not even close.

Look I know that a ton of Jeff Eats’ audience is in Dade-Broward-Palm Beach—but what is, is! I am telling you, this Yummy House joint is really in a league-of its own. Unfortunately for us (you guys and Jeff Eats), it isn’t in our backyard. But like I just said, what is, is! By the way, that “what is, is” is about 235 miles away/figure 4 hours–unless you’re flying (in a plane, that is).

So! If you live or work in Yummy’s neighborhood, you now know about a great Chinese joint.

You can check menu/prices at www.yummyhoustampa.com.

Yummy House is open 7 days a week…11am-3pm, 5pm-10pm.

One final bit of housekeeping…there are 3 Yummy restaurants in Tampa and 1 -in Sarasota. They are owned by the same folks, but each has a slightly different name. For example Yummy House Bistro, Yummy Noodle House…This review is for the Waters-Tampa location. Jeff Eats has not yet tried the others-so no verdict on their respective food etc.
