***** Super Pretzel- 6 Sweet Cinnamon Soft Pretzels.

Not sure about you guys, but Jeff Eats loves to eat and try all kinds of new “shit” while watching sports-on my 70 inch flat-screen tv!- I used Green Stamps to “get” it!- you guys remember Green Stamps?- sure you do!

image

To that end (that being eating and trying all kinds of new “shit”), the other day I picked-up a package of Super Pretzel- 6 Sweet Cinnamon Soft Pretzels ($3.29) at Publix and ate them while watching last night’s Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors’ basketball game… As my college roommate Joe B. use to say “real good shit”- by the way, all you gotta do is pop the frozen pretzels into the toaster for something like-63 seconds-and they and you are good to go!

image

You can check superpretzel.com for retail store locations/50 cent printable coupon.

By the way, during the game- Jeff Eats also “experimented” with these suckers, but wasn’t impressed with either contestant!

And-finally, time for turncoat Lebron to get his!

For our purposes Jeff Eats is gonna call this tale “A Public Service Announcement”…

If you guys wanna eat off the chart- delicious pizza and garlic rolls, then you gotta go to Original Frankie’s Famous Pizza in Miami!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have been going to Frankie’s for years- and trust me when I tell you the joint’s stuff is absolute dynamite! The only draw-back to Frankie’s is that it’s in Miami and Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats live in Boca Raton…

Long story short, last night we got down to Frankie’s (which by the way, is basically a takeout joint), ate in the car (I know!- sounds very romantic!)- and if you haven’t been there, make it your business to get to Original Frankie’s Famous Pizza!

Don’t plan on eating at Original Frankie’s Famous Pizza because it’s takeout only. The joint only has 2 menu items, pizza and garlic rolls. You want great stuff!-order yourself a pie and some rolls-Frankie’s must be doing something right–the joint has been around since 1955.

Original Frankie’s which has been around since 1955, is one of the greatest pizza joints on the face of the planet! Frankie’s is ALMOST-STRICTLY TAKEOUT, with 3 small tables outside in its rear parking lot- if you “”insist” on immediately eating your pizza!

Frankie’s sells TWO ITEMS…PIZZA and GARLIC ROLLS…By the way, the garlic rolls are also incredible.

There is absolutely nothing more to tell you about this joint except that you have to try it and that it is open Tuesday-Sunday– Noon-10pm

Jeff Eats recently received the following e-mail…

Jeff,
Got any ideas on something totally different to entertain my brother, sister in law and their 3 kids aged 9, 10 12 visiting from Cleveland? My husband and I got 2 kids, 8 and 11.
Thanks,
JAW (Margate)

JAW:

Check out Jungle Queen Riverboat which runs day and night “sightseeing” cruises out of Fort Lauderdale.

Just between you and Jeff Eats (I will deny this e-mail response, if you tell anyone!), Jungle Queen Riverboat has a 4 hour early-evening cruise -to an island where you get an all-you-can-eat bbq dinner and a comedy show- for something like 45 bucks a head- and if you check- groupon.com you’ll probably catch a deal- around 33 bucks, that is absolutely terrific…but you didn’t hear this from me!

You can checkout Jungle Queen Riverboat’s sightseeing cruise lineup -at JungleQueen.com. By the way, Jungle Queen Riverboat has been in business since 1935- so I’m thinking that it probably knows exactly what it’s doing!

Have fun and thanks for reading…and remember that Jeff Eats didn’t send you!- I got a “highfalutin” image to protect! If anyone asks, you might want to tell “them” that you read about Jungle Queen Riverboat in the Miami Herald!

Green River- Tribute To Creedence Clearwater Revival & 1st Street Deli (Seminole Casino Coconut Creek- Coconut Creek)

* Green River- Tribute To Creedence Clearwater Revival & 1st Street Deli.

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “sometimes” like to plan ahead…

With that in mind, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and a bunch of our friends got plans to see Green River at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s Nectar lounge- on Thursday Night, June 2nd at 8pm. Just so you know, the show is complimentary and-all-things-being-equal should be SRO-as the band’s previous appearances in the casino’s Sunset Grill on 12/17/15 and 3/17/16 were packed-house affairs. Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you, Green River is off the chart good!

For good measure, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats & Company will be eating in the casino’s 1st Street Deli beginning sometime around 6:45pm!

Let Jeff Eats wrap this tale up for you…terrific music + good food = real nice time!

Latest Review: 8/1/2012

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats the 1st Street Deli makes an absolutely terrific-Matzo Ball Soup. If you don’t tell too many people, during the past 3 years- on average- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats ate at the 1st Street Deli something like every 6 weeks or so- and everything that we ordered (i.e.- hamburgers, hot dogs pastrami, corned beef, turkey, potato pancakes, chopped liver, tuna salad, chicken salad) was right on the money! The 1st Street Deli is a great looking joint and its service is as pleasant and competent as can be!

By the way when Jeff Eats first ‘reviewed” the joint back on 8/1/12 there was an- Original Brooklyn Water Bagel outlet in the restaurant…that’s no more, the 1st Avenue Deli now has its own (bagels made in house) operation in that space!- Just in case you’re wondering, the bagels that Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have tried- (everything, plain, onion, sesame) were as good, if not better than the stuff being turned out by most of the bagel joints that dot South Florida’s landscape!

1st Street Deli is open:
Breakfast
Monday – Sunday: 6:30AM – 11AM | Featuring hot, fresh donuts with every dine-in entrée.

***** 1st Street Deli, 5550 Northwest 40th Street, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073, (954) 977-6700.

The 1st Street Deli is located inside the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in Coconut Creek. Great looking joint, with table/booth/counter seating…looks like a NYC “kosher style” deli circa 1960…in addition, part of the “store” has an- The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company outlet (check Jeff Eats 8/11/09 review for Delray Beach location).

Just so you know, Jeff Eats always treats casino “restaurants” with a jaundiced eye…is the food any good? are the prices outrageous? is this just a tourist trap?

Got some good news for you on 1st Street Deli…

Tried 1st Street Deli the other night for dinner…matzo ball soup (bowl-$4.95), potato pancake appetizer (3 pancakes $5.95), pastrami on rye (with french fries $12.95), salad trio (1-scoop each of chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad-$10.95), 8oz cheeseburger with french fries $11.95)—everything was A-OK! As a point of reference, I know a lot of you guys eat in Too Jay’s Gourmet Deli…the food at 1st Street Deli is better than Too Jay’s stuff (see Jeff Eats’ Too Jay’s review 3/28/09)…as a matter of fact, 1st Street Deli’s food is as good as the stuff served at most of the better bagel joints and New York Kosher Style Delis down here in sunny South Florida. For the record, although very good, 1st Street Deli’s food isn’t quite in the same league (although not by much) as TOP delis like the Pomperdale, Zinger’s or Ben’s (if you like, you can check Jeff Eats’ reviews for these 3 joints, if not, not!) On the pricing front, maybe a “drop” higher here and there-than your favorite bagel joint, but nothing that’s glaring…besides, if you spend the money on food, you won’t have to waste time “losing” it playing the slots—in any event, the Indians are gonna get the cash no matter how you slice it.

Check www.seminolecoconutcreekcasino.com for menu/prices.

One final thought, if you checked my review on The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company you’d know that it makes some real-good bagels. That said, I think that a bakers dozen at the Casino’s location fetches something like 14 bucks—now that’s a rip-off. One other thing on The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company, the casino’s website says that the “bagel” store is open from 6am-11pm–but when I was there at 9:30pm it “appeared” to be closed and its bagel display bins were totally empty…not good!

1st Street Deli is open 7 days a week 11am-11pm.
The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company is open 7 days a week 6am-11pm.
