***** Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar, 4636 Jog Road, Greenacres, Florida 33467, (561) 964-0900.

For our purposes Jeff Eats is gonna call the Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar in Greenacres “an out of sight, out of mind” terrific sports bar!

I first told you guys about the Eagle Grill on June 30, 2013- and for some unknown-reason Jeff Eats and for that matter Mrs. Jeff Eats literally “forgot” that the joint even existed! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and I have eaten there a couple of times since June 30, 2013- that said, based on last night’s dinner of crab cakes/bbq babyback ribs we haven’t been going (back) there enough! The food absolutely killed!

Let me wrap this package up for you guys, if you live or work anywhere near the Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar- then you gotta give it a shot! It’s really that good!

***** Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar, 4636 Jog Road, Greenacres, Florida 33467, (561) 964-0900.

Got something really-good for you guys…Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar in Greenacres. For our purposes, we’re gonna call this restaurant an “American Style”-“Sports Bar” joint.

Let me start by saying, that Jeff Eats absolutely loved the Eagle Grill.

For what it’s worth…last night, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and our friends Eric and Ellen (Jeff Eats knows Ellen since he was 13 and she was 12) tried the Eagle Grill which had been recommended the night before by our mutual friends Norman and Nancy who live in Delray Beach…confused?

Anyway…

The four of us (that’s Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Eric and Ellen who Jeff Eats knows since he was 13) drove “up” to Greenacres from Boca Raton and found the Eagle Grill in a small shopping center…from the outside, in a million years—the four of us never figured that inside- it was a cool looking neighborhood wood bar/booths/table seating joint with loads of flat screen tvs. By the way, when we got there around 8:15pm–every seat (I’m thinking 125 give or take) in the house including those at the bar were taken—it took us about 10 minutes to catch a booth.

Eagle’s menu has tons of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings, pastas, meat/chicken/seafood entrees, desserts…Just so you know, the joint is heavy on the seafood-side of the ledger, but don’t-worry, there is plenty of non fish stuff, so every-one in your party is gonna find what to eat. At this stage of the game, you can check www.eagle-grill.com for menu/prices/photos.

Now listen closely…Eagle Grill’s food isn’t just good, it is outrageously good. Eric ordered the crab cake entrée ($25-2 crab cakes/2 sides) and scarfed those suckers down as if he was Mahata Gandhi breaking a fast. Jeff Eats did a rack of baby-back ribs ($16- two sides), Mrs. Jeff Eats did blackened mahi ($12.50- two sides), Ellen did a shrimp po boy ($8.50 fried shrimp/lettuce/tomato/mayo and one side), the table shared steamed mussels fra diavlo ($8.50) and gumbo ($10). Like I said, 4 seconds ago…the food was outrageously good.

Let me wrap this story up…

Terrific food—super pleasant service—very reasonable prices (for example–from 3pm-9pm the Eagle offers 9 dinners priced at $9.99 a piece).

In baseball parlance, the Eagle Grill is a grand-slam.

For you guys who need a “drop” of clarification. Ellen is married to Eric, Jeff knows Ellen since he was 13 and she was 12, Norman is married to Nancy and vice versa, Nancy and Norman use to live in Boca Raton but now live in Delray Beach but are thinking of moving to Manhattan but aren’t sure on that just yet, the only tv sets currently being manufactured are flat screen tvs so it’s no longer necessary to call them flat screen tvs-just tvs will suffice and a po boy is the “same” as a sub, hero, blimpie, grinder, hoagie…and your tee shirt/shorts ensembles will work beautifully at the Eagle.

Eagle Grill is open Sunday noon-9:30pm, Monday-Thursday 11am-9:30pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10:30pm.

Finally, if Norman and Nancy decide to move to Manhattan, Jeff Eats will update you guys.

Feingold- who works “clean” puts on a very funny comedy show laced with dead on vocal impressionists!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, if this guy wasn’t as terrific as I’m telling you he is, the Boca Black Box wouldn’t be headlining him for 2-consecutive nights!

Finally, like food- what constitutes terrific music & comedy are purely subjective calls – go checkout Ron Feingold on You Tube and see if you’re on the same page as Jeff Eats is!

***** Solorzano Bros. Pizza, 4 Webber Street, Sarasota, Florida 34232, (941) 926-4276.

Got a real good red sauce/Italian joint for you guys- Solorzano Bros. Pizza in Sarasota.

Maybe a dozen tables- sort of a limited menu, but the odds are you’ll find what to eat, the joint bakes its own bread, reasonable prices, super pleasant service- and as Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats discovered at a recent dinner-absolutely killer thin crispy crust/sweet sauce pizza, garlic knots, meatball parm sub, caprese salad.

Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that this food blogging business is purely a subjective game. You know the drill, what I like, you may hate- what I think is salty you may find to be too sweet- with all that in mind, I gotta tell you that Solorzano’s stuff was absolute dynamite! One other thought- Solorzano’s “dining room” reminds me of the scene in The Godfather where Michael shoots Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey- like Jeff Eats said 2-seconds ago-Solorzano’s food killed (pun intended)!

Anyway, if you live or work anywhere near Solorzano Bros. Pizza- it’s an absolute must try!

Solorzano Bros. Pizza is open Tuesday-Saturday 11am-10pm, Sunday 4pm-10pm, closed Monday.

* Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint (Tallahassee)

Back on December 29, 2011, Jeff Eats “did” a story on the “make your own” pizza business…the story is re-printed below.

In that story, I told you guys that I was expecting a huge roll-out of this “concept” to hit South Florida…in particular, I briefly mentioned an Atlanta based franchise company, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint as one player to keep an eye on.

It is now some-19 months later…and I “see” that on May 2, 2013 Uncle Maddio’s opened its first Florida outpost in Tallahassee—took the Company a drop-longer that Jeff Eats thought it would to “get into the state”—but it finally happened.

Now, the point of this discussion…Jeff Eats is now hearing, that Uncle Maddio’s is in “tons” of South Florida lease negotiations—so be on the lookout, for this chain to gain extreme South Florida traction over the next 8-12 months.

For what it is worth…Jeff Eats “tried” Uncle Maddio’s in Atlanta and I’m telling you–that these guys make a terrific product, design a great store and are operationally very sound.

The bet here, is that Uncle Maddio’s is going to emerge as theeeee- PLAYER here in Florida and maybe even the United States.

Jeff Eats has been keeping a close eye on this “make your own” pizza segment and from what I’ve seen/tasted/heard…Uncle Maddio’s has the potential to develop into a major fast-food company.

As always…Your thoughts, ideas and assorted nonsense on the industry– are of course welcomed!

***** Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint ****
You know that I like to keep you guys-up to date on all kinds of stuff related to food and the food industry.
When you get a chance, check-out Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint www.unclemaddios.com.
Real simple pizza-franchise concept…make your own pizzas. You go to the joint, there is a “huge” selection of pizza toppings etc.—the guy/gal behind the counter puts the pizza “together” for you–and it gets delivered to your table within something like 6 minutes.
Trust me on this one, you will soon see these “make your own” pizza joints popping up all over South Florida, not to mention all over the United States. They sort of remind me of the Yogurt by the ounce joints.
Uncle Maddio’s is just one player in this “new” business segment. There are a number of guys-getting into this business, including publiclly traded Pizza Inn.
For right now–as far as I know, there aren’t any Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joints in South Florida. Betcha a buck, that sometime within the next 6 months, a version-of-this-concept will be in your neighborhood.
Just thought you guys would enjoy hearing about what the food industry is cooking up for you

***** Papa Bees, 480 South Ronald Reagan Boulevard, Longwood, Florida 32750, (407) 260-1122.

Got a real good American Style joint for you guys, Papa Bees in Longwood. Simple concept going on here, table/counter seating, beer/wine, handful of tvs, spartan decor, menu loaded with appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads- real game here, Papa Bees’ wings and French fries!

For what it’s worth, a couple of weeks ago- Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple did dinner there…the joint was packed to the rafters- and my “eye” saw wings/fries on every table. Throw in Papa Bees’ “winged buffalo” logo- and like I just said, Papa Bees’ real game-wings and fries!

Anyway,

As the old saying goes, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”- Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and our friends did wings and fries and I gotta tell you, amazing delicious!

The 3rd Annual Bayou Party (The Cook And The Cork- Coral Springs)

image

***** The Cook & The Cork, 9890 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida 33065, (954) 227-2665.

This article first appeared on April 25, 2016.

Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on The 3rd Annual Bayou Party which was held/sponsored by The Cook And The Cork in Coral Springs.

Yesterday, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “attended”- and had an absolute blast! Just so you know, The Cook And The Cork is a 40 seat American Style restaurant- it also owns/operates a well known and extremely popular catering company that “does” private events all over South Florida!

Of note, The Cook And The Cork owns the “building” where it is located as well as the adjoining parking-lot where The 3rd Annual Bayou Party was held.

On The 3rd Annual Bayou Party, Jeff Eats is thinking something like 300 were there. The best way to sum-up the event, tons of absolutely dynamite food and the 60’s band Orange Sunshine had the crowd jumping! Trust Jeff Eats on this one, the food that The Cook And The Cork served-up wasn’t your standard “fair” food…The joint’s owner “Chef Keith” is a graduate and current member of the BOD of The Culinary Institute of America, like I just said- the food wasn’t “fair” food!

Anyway,

The event was a grand-slam!

To wrap things up for you guys, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats can’t wait to give the “actual” restaurant a try! The way Jeff Eats is thinking, if The Cook And The Cork can bang-out such amazing food outside/under tents/in a parking lot…it’s a real good bet that its inside restaurant food must be totally off the hook!

The Cook And The Cork is open Wednesday-Thursday 5pm-9pm, Friday-Saturday 5pm-10pm, closed Sunday-Tuesday.

You can check menu/prices/info at thecookandthecork.com.
