Jeff Eats just heard that two of my favorite South Florida doo wop/oldies “groups” namely- Spanky & Dino and Joey and the Paradons are scheduled in the very near future to play Tony B’s Ristorante & Supper Club which opened 10 days ago in Parkland.

Keep a secret? Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are gonna check-out the joint on either September 22th or October 15th- to be followed by a Jeff Eats’ “story” -about Tony B’s food- service- menu- decor- so on and so forth. We don’t want the joint’s staff to know we are there, accordingly- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats will be wearing Groucho Marx glasses to prevent our being recognized!

Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, Jeff Eats “hears” a ton of stuff every day…and, I’m hearing a ton of talk about Tony B’s Ristorante & Supper Club which plans to open mid-September, 2016 in Parkland…The chatter is-that the upscale Tony B’s is gonna be an off-the-chart terrific Italian restaurant featuring amazing entertainment! Now you guys and Jeff Eats both know that talk-is-cheap, so we’ll just have to wait and see if owner Tony Brocco – who by the way is one of America’s most successful 50’s-60’s music concert promoters, has assembled a line-up of top shelf chefs, managers and wait-staff to warrant the current favorable buzz!!

Let’s keep a close eye on this Tony B’s situation- tonybsristorante.com.

About Us
Tony B’s Ristorante & Supper Club is the realization of a long-time dream of owner Tony Brocco. This unique dining concept, opening in September, 2016, in Parkland, Florida, will feature Classic Italian Cuisine with a modern touch—we call it “Italian Fusion”—a mix of the best of Northern, Southern and Modern Italian cooking. Our warm & welcoming hospitality will create the ideal environment to enjoy home-style cooking, as well as enjoy music to enhance your dining experience. With over 40 years of experience in various aspects of the food industry, Tony is passionate about his new venture. Moving to Florida in the 1970’s, Tony became an innovator, opening a chain of fast-food Italian sausage eateries. In the years that followed, he owned and operated distribution organizations for the highest quality meat products in the region. More recently, Tony has been at the forefront of the entertainment industry in South Florida– bringing some of the top hit recording artists of the ’50 & ‘60’s to the area in major concert venues, including Bobby Rydell, The Drifters, The Platters, The Shirelles, The Flamingos, Jay and the Americans…and the list goes on. These icons, including legendary DJ/MC Cousin Brucie, created the soundtrack of his life, and now, to Tony, they are friends.

He and his wife, Ann Marie, look forward to bringing this love of quality food and music to new friends and guests who visit Tony B’s Ristorante & Supper Club, opening this September, at 7351 State Road 7 (441), Parkland, Florida. ***** Zinger’s Delicatessen, 7132 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 826-7323.

For you guys who maybe wondering as to where Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats will be “eating” our Rosh Hashanah Dinner on Sunday, October 2, 2016- well wonder no more…our Boca Raton home!

To be perfectly honest with you guys, it was a toss-up between catering in/or eating at Zinger’s Delicatessen-in any event, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “will be” footing the entire bill for us plus 9! As you can see from the order below, there’ll be plenty of food- which doesn’t include all the other stuff that Mrs. Jeff Eats ordered from The Boys Farmers Market in Delray Beach and the Publix by our house in Boca Raton. One thing for sure, home or out, there’ll be plenty of drama ’round the old dining room table!

Just so you guys know, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats- rate Zinger’s Delicatessen (zingersdeli.com) as one of the best New York Kosher Style Delis in Florida and would match its food up against the stuff served by the best joints in the 5 boroughs- any day of the week!

By the way, if Zinger’s doesn’t work for you, Jeff Eats got a load of “stories’ about other top-notch New York Kosher/Kosher Style Delis and Bagel joints all of which- will definitely get the job done for you!

A Happy New Year to All, and to all a good night!- sorry, wrong holiday!

* The Wise Guy Kitchen featuring Vincent Fiore.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats just picked up 2- tickets for this one!

KITCHEN

Patrons of our Musical Comedy “The Wiseguy Kitchen Live Show” will follow the shenanigans behind the scenes and in front of the camera as the former mob boss, turned reality star Big Vinny, aka The Wiseguy Chef and his crew, try to go legit. During the performance of live cooking show, The Wiseguy Chef tries to teach his patrons how to prepare delicious Italian American cuisine with the help of Vinny’s beautiful assistant Nina Baccala. much to the Chagrin of Maria the only book smart girl in the group.

While Vinny’s intentions are genuine, he’s brought along his former sidekicks Uncle Carmine and Louie The Loan Shark who he’s employed to help run the cooking show and frankly, they aren’t as committed as Vinny when it comes to going straight. While Vinny tries to teach his patrons how to cook, the crew are stirring up plenty of trouble on their own, you will soon get the idea once you are seated in the audience !

With so much excitement, there are plenty of opportunities for the audience to play a part in the show. There’s music, comedy, singing and a chance to sample the freshly cooked food of chef Vinny! Never before has a show such as ours been produced with a live cooking demonstration during a theatrical performance..

Tai Pei Pork Potstickers (Walmart- Delray Beach)

***** Tai Pei Pork Potstickers.

Last night Jeff Eats purchased a package of Tai Pei Pork Potstickers at the Walmart located at 16205 South Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484, (561) 495-8127.

Real simple tale to tell you guys, the package contained 42 frozen pork potstickers and cost $8.98. Using a microwave oven, it took 6 minutes to cook up a 5 piece serving. Trust Jeff Eats, the Tai Pei Pork Potstickers were as good if not better than most of the pork potstickers served up by the Chinese joints down here in Florida. You guys can do the math, $8.98 for 42 is something like $.213 per potsticker. Based on the manufacturer’s website taipeifood.com, Tai Pei Pork Potstickers are only available at Walmart (walmart.com).

Call me a wild and crazy guy, but Jeff Eats treats stuff-like these frozen pork potstickers as tv snack food. Rather than eating potato chips, popcorn, pretzels. chocolate/black/red Twizzlers while watching my 55″ Samsung tv (bought at Costco)- I’m into delicacies like frozen- potstickers, egg rolls, White Castle cheeseburgers, mac & cheese, chicken and turkey pot pies!

If you wanna live the high-life like Jeff Eats does…

* Jaded & Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza.

If Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats didn’t already have other plans- tomorrow night, we’d grab a couple of slices at Basilico’s and then catch Jaded at the Wellington Amphitheatre! Don’t say Jeff Eats never gave you a plan!

* Jaded.
Let me ask you something…What are the odds that you’ll see- Aerosmith in concert sometime within the next 210 days?

With the above in mind, Jeff Eats recently caught South Florida based Aerosmith tribute band- Jaded in action- and I gotta tell you, these guys are real good!

If you are a Steven Tyler fan, Aerosmith fan…you’ll enjoy Jaded’s show.

The band has some “free” concerts in the works…

***** Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza, 9140 Forest Hill Boulevard, Wellington, Florida 33411, (561) 333-4949.

Last night, Jeff Eats took-out from red sauce Italian joint… Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza in Wellington. and I gotta tell you, this restaurant makes some really delicious stuff.

Real simple concept, order at the counter/takeout…or the food is delivered to something like 6 inside booths/handful of outside tables. By the way, the restaurant is located in a very quaint cool looking “New England” style strip-center…which also has a Chinese joint, a Dunkin’ Donuts, an ice cream store, a custom cake- making store, a liquor store–you won’t think- you’re in Florida! Real interesting, in addition to ice cream and yogurt-the ice cream store sells fresh orange juice quarts/gallons-candy by the pound, and has a whole area for fresh flowers…the Chinese joint which is basically a takeout has 4 large 6- seat booths-for those who want to eat-in. Like I said 1 second ago, the strip center has a real different feel to it!

Anyway…

Jeff Eats “got to” Basilico’s around 6:30pm last night and there was something like 8 guys behind the counter making pizzas etc. and 2 young ladies at the register. In the 25 minutes or so that I waited for my order, every booth inside was taken and I watched numerous pickups and phone orders being taken…I didn’t notice anyone eating outside.

Basilico’s menu is loaded with appetizers, salads, pizzas, pastas, strombolis, calzones, hot/cold subs, entrees. You can check its menu/prices at basilicospizza.com.

Ordered items included large 16″ pizza ($9.99), Chicken parmesan sub ($7.99), sausage & peppers stromboli ($6.79), eggplant parmesan entrée (pasta side/garlic breadsticks- $10.59) and like I said 3 seconds ago, the stuff was really delicious.

Look!

Jeff Eats has been to his fair share of red sauce Italian joints down here in south Florida and- this Basilico’s joint is a huge winner. The food was really-solid, the prices CHEAP (I believe I’m suppose to say inexpensive or very reasonable)-trust me, Basilico’s gives you a ton of food for cheap-money-and the food isn’t crap quality!

Let me wrap this up for you, if Basilico’s was by my house (which unfortunately it isn’t) Jeff Eats would definitely be a very steady customer.

Basilico’s Original Hand-Tossed Pizza is open 7 days a week.

* The Temptations Review Featuring Dennis Edwards.

Just read the below advertisement this morning in the Sun Sentinel. Long story short, fans of The Temptations will definitely want to see this show- as it’s about as close to seeing the “real” Temptations when they were in their prime in the 60’s-70’s!

One other quick observation, the advertisement boasts that the Mardi Gras Casino was “Voted Best Casino 2015”- Jeff Eats is just smiling on that one🙂…must be the same guy who year in and year out votes- Publix fried chicken as being the best in south Florida!

There have been many “Temptations” but the only ones inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame are Dennis Edwards, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, Dave Ruffin, Otis Williams and Paul Williams.

Otis “owns” The Temptations’ name and tours with 4-guys who “never in a million years” would have qualified to be Temptations in the group’s hey day! Franklin/Kendricks/Williams/Ruffin have passed and Dennis’ tribute group has for years- mesmerized audiences with its dead-on Temptations’ vocals, dance moves and style

The Temptations Review Featuring Dennis Edwards plays the Mardis Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 7pm. You can order tickets at mardisgrascasinofl.com.

from mardigrascasinofl.com

Born February 3, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama to Reverend and Mrs. Dennis Edwards Sr., he began singing as a toddler, just two years old, in his fathers’ church. His family moved to Detroit when he was seven. As a high school student, Edwards sang with the Crowns of Joy gospel group, and then in 1961 he organized his own soul/jazz group, Dennis Edwards and the Fireballs. Before joining The Contours in 1967, Edwards recorded a single for the obscure Detroit label, International Soulville Records. The single was a track called “I Didn’t Have to (But I Did)” with Johnnie on the Spot.

Edwards was the first new Temptation to enter the group after their “classic five” heyday, when he replaced David Ruffin as lead singer in July 1968. The Temptations officially introduced Edwards on July 9, 1968 on stage in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. With his rougher gospel-hewn vocals, Edwards led the group through its psychedelic, funk, and disco periods; two of the Temptations songs he appears on, “Cloud Nine” (1968) and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” (1972), won Grammy Awards. Edwards was the lead singer on many or the other Temptations hits including “I Cant’ Get Next To you”, “Ball of Confusion”, “Psychedelic Shack” and “My Girl”. The Temptations became one of the most successful Motown groups in the world.

In 1984 Motown re-launched Edwards’ solo career, and he had a hit with the 1984 single Don’t Look Any Further, which is a favorite of many fans. Dennis Edwards has received 7 Grammy Awards, 14 Gold Records, has sold over 100,000,000 recordings worldwide, is a member of the Alabama Hall of Fame and performed in Washington D.C. for the 2009 Inaugural Ball for President Obama. Edward’s television credits include many guest appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Motown’s 25th Anniversary, PBS Soul to Soul Special, Feed the Children and TV One – Jeff Majors Show.

Watching a Bob Nelson live performance is like watching several different types of top comedians all rolled up into one. Characters like the lovable nerd Eppy Epperman, punchy boxer Jiffy Jeff and chicken rancher Wilby Stuckinson are as funny and memorable as any you will see in comedy today. Bob’s football routine is a recognized comedy classic and “Morning”, his tale of a farmer and a duck, is one of the finest works of one man showmanship to grace the modern stage. If all that were not enough, Bob’s ability to relay personal stories and observations about everyday life put him in the same league as the best of today’s stand-up comics. His shows are filled with spontaneity, zaniness and singular moments that will astound you. Throughout his career Bob Nelson has been hailed as one of the most gifted funny people on the planet.

A contemporary of Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, Mr. Nelson’s extraordinary talents have been refined by a career that has included multiple appearances on the Merv Griffin Show, the Tonight Show and David Letterman. Bob has performed live thousands of times at hundreds of comedy clubs, colleges and other exciting live venues including the Las Vegas strip, Radio City Music Hall and on NYC’s Broadway. He has also had the great honor to perform at the Ford Theater in Washington D.C. for president Ronald Reagan. Most recently, he has performed on stage at The Grand Ole Opry.

Bob Nelson was Rodney Dangerfield’s opening act for eight of the most popular years of Mr Dangerfield’s career. Bob was prominently featured in two of Rodney’s enormously popular HBO stand up comedy showcases, alongside other comedy phenoms like Rosanne Barr and Sam Kineson. That led to two HBO specials starring Bob Nelson, including the ground breaking classic Nelson Schmelson.

Bob won an Emmy Award in Philadelphia for a children’s show he wrote and starred in. Bob has since had supporting roles in Nora Ephram’s directorial film debut This Is My Life with Julie Kavner and Ivan Reitman’s box office smash Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Bob also starred in the Zucker Brother’s Marx Brother’s take off Brain Donors.

From 2006 to 2010 Bob had his own One Man Comedy show in Branson, Missouri. In 2012 he moved the show to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and performed at the Bob Nelson Family Theatre until 2014. Being a true New Yorker, the Northeast has called him home. His goal is to create a Brand New Comedy Brand on Long Island. Including Shows, Television and creative Social Media endeavors.

Mattress Helper

* Mattress Helper.

Got something which is absolute dynamite- that’s assuming you got a sagging mattress…Mattress Helper.

image

Long story short, late one night- about a month ago, Jeff Eats saw Mattress Helper advertised on tv- it was either QVC or HSN and the next afternoon- bought “it” much cheaper at the Bed Bath & Beyond, 1400 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 620-4721.

Take it for what it’s worth, no bs here…placed Mattress Helper under Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ 21 year old sagging king size mattress and the mattress became- as firm/comfortable as it was the day we bought it!

Right about now, some of you guys may-be asking, “What’s a mattress-story doing on – what is essentially a food blog?” All I can tell you guys, is that a-lot of people do a-lot of eating in bed- and I’ll leave it at that!

Like I said, Jeff Eats ordered Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ Mattress Helper from Bed Bath & Beyond which shipped it to our Boca Raton home. If Bed Bath & Beyond doesn’t work for you, a simple internet search will turn up a ton of retailers who carry Mattress Helper! By the way, Bed Bath & Beyond’s website bedbathandbeyond.com has a 20% OFF coupon listed. Just so we are straight, Jeff Eats couldn’t give a rat’s ass as to where you buy Matress Helper- all I can tell you is that the freaking thing works! It may sound like a stretch- but since “installing” Mattress Helper my morning backaches have disappeared!

One final note, king size mattresses require 2 Mattress Helpers- Jeff Eats’ total cost was $118.70. As Sy Syms use to say, “An educated consumer is our best customer.”- or something like that! For more “education”- mattresshelper.com.
