* 2016 Marketplace Music Fest- November & December.

Very nice lineup!

Jeff Eats has seen all of the listed bands- like I just said, very nice lineup1

The series is Free! Just bring yourself and a folding chair!

Keep this between us, other than a small handful of some pretty decent restaurants and a movie “complex”- the Delray Marketplace got absolutely nothing going on- that is, unless you need to buy a suit at Jos. A. Bank!

Like I said, the series is free, so go and enjoy!

Haagen-Dazs Strawberry & Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream.

I don’t know about you guys, but Publix- BUY ONE GET ONE signs are sorta like Greek Mythology Sirens to Jeff Eats…

Long story short, yesterday the Publix Super Market, 3003 Yamato Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33434, (561) 241-5005 ran a BUY ONE GET ONE on pints of Haagen-Dazs’ Ice Cream!

$5.15 got Jeff Eats these…

image

Real simple story, absolutely horrendous flavors! May sound strange, but neither the Strawberry or the Belgian Chocolate had “any” taste- whatsoever. Extremley bland, if that makes sense to you?

You guys do know that food “reviewing” is purely a subjective situation – all I can tell you, Buy One Get One or no Buy One Get One-Jeff Eats rates Haagen-Dazs’ Strawberry and Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream- Lousy and that’s Lousy with a capital “L”…

Vinny’s Pizza (Jupiter)

***** Vinny’s Pizza, 6671 West Indiantown Road, Jupiter, Florida 33458, (561) 575-5445.

For our purposes we’re gonna call Vinny’s Pizza an “out of sight out of mind” mom & pop red sauce Italian joint…

Jeff Eats first told you guys about Vinny’s Pizza on November 3, 2010…truth be told, hadn’t been back “until” last night when Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats stopped in for a Grandma Pizza and an obscene amount of Coke and Diet Coke. By the way, I’m kinda thinking the sole reason for the long-absence, the freaking joint is 86 miles round-trip from Jeff Eats’ Boca Raton residence!

Long story short, absolute dynamite Grandma Pizza!

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats loved Vinny’s in 2010 and loved it again in 2016- with all things being equal, the next “love” is gonna be sometime in 2022! Hey, an 86 mile round-trip, ain’t exactly chopped liver either!

All kidding aside, trust Jeff Eats on this one, you gotta try Vinny’s Pizza, it’s that good!

***** Vinny’s Pizza, 6671 West Indiantown Road, Jupiter, Florida 33458, (561) 575-5445.

Got a real good-reasonably priced “mom & pop–red sauce” Italian joint for you…Vinny’s Pizza in Jupiter, Florida.

Vinny’s menu has all of the “expected stuff”…pizzas, pastas, calzones, hot & cold subs, meat/seafood/chicken dishes (dinners–include salad, pasta side, garlic knots).

A recent dinner outing had me doing…large 16” pizza ($12.20), penne alla vodka ($10.50), meat lasagna ($11.25), veal parmigiana ($14.50). Keeping in mind, that joints like Vinny’s aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel—I can, without hesitation tell you that-Vinny’s food was terrific. Definitey one of the best NYC styled pizzas that- I’ve had in a very long time. The pie was thin-crispy-with an amazingly-perfect sweet sauce. As for the penne, lasagna and veal parm—I know joints that get double the price and can’t hold a candle to Vinny’s food.

Vinny’s is a winner. This is NOT and I repeat NOT—some hack joint, just turning out passable food. Do have one huge problem with Vinny’s…it’s 86 miles (round-trip) from my house.

Vinny’s Pizza is open Monday-Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm and Sunday noon-9pm.

Just picked-up a few “things” at Walgreens- 21290 Saint Andrews Boulevard, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 368-5759- and Gary Woo Express- 9874 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33434, (516) 483-8889- for tonight’s “show”- which is sorta like a televised WWF match, where you know both wrestlers are as phony as a $3 bill!

Was just by- Yamato Road & 441 in Boca Raton. Saw a gigantic tractor-trailer “unloading” a ton of cars- all with New York license plates!

To save you “car owners” the time-effort of writing Jeff Eats…

***** Gary Woo Express, 9874 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33434, (561) 483-8889.

Got an absolutely terrific Chinese-takeout joint for you…Gary Woo Express in Boca Raton.

Just so you know, Jeff Eats originally “reviewed” this joint on August 19, 2009…suffice it to say, I loved its food back in 2009. Anyway, about 8 months ago new owners took over and to their credit, the food they are “banging-out” is even better than the original stuff. Trust me on this one, Gary Woo Express is right up there with the best Chinese restaurants that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida.

When you check menu/prices at www.garywooexpress.com- in addition to loads of Chinese stuff you will find a huge Japanese menu. For the record, Jeff Eats, didn’t try any of the Japanese items, but if the Japanese food is as good as the Chinese stuff was—Gary Woo Express will be a joint where you can get both-delicious Chinese and Japanese takeout. Just so you know, Gary Woo Express has a couple of tables inside and a handful outside—but this joint is basically a takeout.

Applying Jeff Eats’ 1950’s Brooklyn Jewish Taste Test…sampled items included— won ton soup, tomato egg drop soup, egg rolls, pan fried pork dumplings, bbq ribs, general tso’s chicken, sweet & sour pork, pepper steak, shrimp in lobster sauce, chicken lo mein, roast pork fried rice. The result…Gary Woo Express is one of the best Chinese-takeoout joints that Jeff Eats has tried down here in South Florida. No kidding around, every item “tried” was delicious. To be perfectly honest with you, Jeff Eats’ original plan was to put the “dishes” in some sort of pecking order- but they were all dynamite–so I’ didn’t bother. For you wise-guys out there, No!–Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats didn’t eat “all” that food all by ourselves in one sitting…The fact of the matter, the taste test was conducted in 2-parts…some of the food was picked-up on a Thursday night and some was picked up on Saturday night—so there!

If I got one bitch here, I found the prices a drop- on the high side. No big deal–no second job needed…but the prices were definitely higher than the local competition.

Before I run…if you decide to try Gary Woo Express–when you get to the joint, you’ll find a “menu-rack” outside the front door. The takeout menus in the rack–have coupons and you can use them “right away”— Now that I’m thinking, the coupon that I used saved me 10% off my entire order. The point of all this yapping—use the coupons to off-set the higher-prices I detected.

Gary Woo Express was a “huge” find.

I am telling you, this joint is right up there with best of breed.

Gary Woo Express is open Monday-Friday 11am-10pm and Saturday-Sunday 2pm-10pm.

Pauly and The Goodfellas (Century Village at Deerfield Beach- Deerfield Beach, Maltz Jupiter Theatre- Jupiter)

Posted on October 17th, 2016 · Deerfield Beach Jupiter Music/Events/Other · 5 Comments »

* Pauly and The Goodfellas.

This article first appeared on August 18, 2016. Jeff Eats just checked Century Village at Deerfiled Beach and Maltz Jupiter Theatre box offices and there are just a handful of tickets left for their respective shows. So if you wanna go-and don’t yet have tickets- time to make your move!

image

Posted on August 18th, 2016

* Pauly and The Goodfellas.

Jeff Eats just purchased 4- tickets!

Pauly and The Goodfellas- the legendary 50’s-80’s party/show band makes a rare public Florida appearance- Saturday Night (7pm), February 4, 2017 at Century Village at Deerfield Beach, 250 Century Boulevard, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33442, (954) 866-8910.

For you guys unfamiliar (or is it- not familiar?) with Pauly and The Goodfellas, the band based in Canada has been around for something like 35 years and if you “think” Sha Na Na, you’ll be in the right wheelhouse!

Jeff Eats has been a Pauly fan for years, but as I just mentioned, the band very rarely plays Florida not to mention South Florida (so I won’t)! Keep it between us, but I’m hearing that Pauly recently “acquired” a Margate home, so just maybe, we’ll be seeing Pauly and The Goodfellas down here in Florida more frequently, but that’s just a guess!

All I can tell you, if you’re into 1950’s-1980’s music, Pauly and The Goodfellas is an absolute must see!

If you still need some convincing as to how good and entertaining Pauly and The Goodfellas is, checkout the band’s website paulyandthegoodfellas.com is!

There is no doubt in Jeff Eats’ mind that Pauly is gonna sell-out Century Village at Deerfield Beach. If you live in the community, tickets are 13 bucks. If you are a non-resident, tickets are 18 bucks! Like Jeff Eats did, you can buy tickets online at centuryvillage.com. Just so you know, there are no “ticket service charges”- so 13 means 13 and 18 means 18!

One final note, Century Village at Boca Raton (3/7/17), Century Village at West Palm Beach (3/9/17) and Century Village at Pembroke Pines (3/11/17) have Pauly and The Goodfellas booked, but these venues (unlike the Century Village at Deerfield Beach) don’t allow non-residents to purchase tickets! By the way, if the Deerfield Beach date doesn’t work for you, Pauly has a 3/10/17 (7:30pm) public appearance show at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, 1001 East Indiantown Road, Jupiter, Florida 33477, Box Office Phone: (561) 575-2223, jupitertheatre.org.

DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday- 10/16/16- Santino’s Pizza-Pasta- Pembroke Pines)

***** DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday- 10/16/16).

One of Jeff Eats’ favorite menu items…

FRIED CALAMARI
$9.25 (appetizer)
&
CHICKEN PARMIGIANA
$15.95 (entree, linguine, soup or salad, garlic rolls)

Santino’s Pizza-Pasta
18267 Pines Boulevard
Pembroke Pines
(954) 441-0080
santinospizzaandpasta.com
Latest Review: 12/13/13

Santino’s fried calamari appetizer combined with its chicken parmigiana entree is an off the chart delicious meal- not to mention, way too much food for any “sensible” person to even consider finishing in one sitting! The operative word in the above run-on sentence being “sensible.”

***** Santino’s Pizza-Pasta, 18267 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33029, (954) 441-0080.

“Look what they did to my boy. Look what they did to Santino!”

Anyway…

Got a real-good- Pembroke Pines’ “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you…Santino’s Pizza-Pasta. You can check menu/prices/photos/other stuff at santinospizzaandpasta.com.

Now, straight up I’m telling you that…Santino’s Pizza-Pasta has definitely not reinvented the wheel-here! With that in mind, Jeff Eats really enjoyed the large pizza ($12.95)-gnocchi with meat sauce ($11.75)-veal marsala ($14.95)-zuppa di pesce ($20.95) that made their way to the Eats’ table. Throw in the fact, that all of the entrees came with a house salad/or soup, pasta side and delicious garlic rolls and you gotta-know that Jeff Eats was an extremely happy camper.

Santino’s is what I call a no-brainer…tons of good solid red sauce stuff and loads of Coca Cola (ice tea or is it iced tea?- in Mrs. Jeff Eats’ case) for tops 50 bucks a couple…and of course, your tee shirt/shorts ensemble will be in fashion.

Santino’s Pizza-Pasta is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm, Sunday 1pm-10pm.

KITCHEN

Patrons of our Musical Comedy “The Wiseguy Kitchen Live Show” will follow the shenanigans behind the scenes and in front of the camera as the former mob boss, turned reality star Big Vinny, aka The Wiseguy Chef and his crew, try to go legit. During the performance of live cooking show, The Wiseguy Chef tries to teach his patrons how to prepare delicious Italian American cuisine with the help of Vinny’s beautiful assistant Nina Baccala. much to the Chagrin of Maria the only book smart girl in the group.

While Vinny’s intentions are genuine, he’s brought along his former sidekicks Uncle Carmine and Louie The Loan Shark who he’s employed to help run the cooking show and frankly, they aren’t as committed as Vinny when it comes to going straight. While Vinny tries to teach his patrons how to cook, the crew are stirring up plenty of trouble on their own, you will soon get the idea once you are seated in the audience !

With so much excitement, there are plenty of opportunities for the audience to play a part in the show. There’s music, comedy, singing and a chance to sample the freshly cooked food of chef Vinny! Never before has a show such as ours been produced with a live cooking demonstration during a theatrical performance..
