* Festival Flea Market Mall Coupon.

Mrs. Jeff Eats needs to buy some reading glasses!

I printed this coupon out for her and here’s one for you guys.

Such a deal! But you can’t use- Festivalue Dollars in the food court…

Finally, did you ever wonder why they call these joints- flea markets?
___
funtrivia.com
The first theory, and the one most popular on the Internet, proposes that the term is a direct translation of the French Marché aux Puces, a large, outdoor bazaar in Paris. This original market earned its name from the critter-infested goods it was rumored to sell.

The second theory alleges that the term was coined at a time when the slums and alleys of Paris were demolished and replaced by new construction. The dealers in second-hand goods who lived and worked in these old neighborhoods were forced to flee. The merchants’ new gathering place was referred to as the “flee market,” which later became “flea market.”

The final theory associates the term with New York City’s 18th century Fly Market. Apparently, the Dutch name for the market was vlie, which means valley but is pronounced “flea.”

First let me give you this joint’s website…www.bigalssteaks.com.

Big Al’s has 2 South Florida locations. Big Al’s is basically a take-out, but a few outdoor tables are available.

This joint’s name says it all…Big Al’s Steaks—Authentic Philly Steak Sandwiches.

When you bite into one of Big Al’s steak hoagies you’ll swear that you are in South Philadelphia eating at the lengendary Pat’s King Of Steaks or Geno’s Steaks. The sandwiches are incredible.

Big Al’s Coconut Creek location is open 7-days a week from 11am-10pm.

Big Al’s Delray Beach location is open 7 days a week…Sunday-Wednesday 11am-Midnight…Thursday 11am-2am…Friday-Saturday 11am-3am.

Figure that a steak hoagie is going to run you something like 7-8 bucks. Big Al’s also has other types of hoagies, but the game here is STEAK.

Don’t miss this one.

***** Park Avenue BBQ & Grille, 4796 North Congress Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida 33426, (561) 357-7427.

Park Avenue is a small “local” South Florida bbq chain. I have lost count on how many there are, but 7 or 8 units sounds about right. Over the years I have eaten in 3 of its locations a total of something like 35 times and taken out so much food, that it’s amazing that I haven’t had to have an angioplasty done. Anyway…my last Park Avenue outing was last night (at the Boynton Beach location) and I have to tell you, that the joint’s baby-back ribs and bbq chicken are absolutely delicious. This joint also makes corn-fritters doused in powder sugar that are terrific.

Do yourself a favor and visit a location in your area. Delicious food. Big portions. Pleasant and efficient waiters/waitresses. All kinds of menu “price specials.” Park Avenue is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. If you wear anything dressier than tee shirt/shorts you will look silly.

By the way, for you guys who actually hung around and read all the stuff- that Jeff Eats wrote about the Mizner Park Amphitheater and Liverpool Live, after the show, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are gonna eat dinner at the Dubliner Irish Pub which is something like a 15 second walk from the Mizner Park Amphitheater- real good food!

Posted on May 17th, 2009

***** Dubliner Irish Pub, 435 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, Florida 33432 (561) 620-2540.

Personally, I wouldn’t give you 5 cents for most of the Irish “pubs” in South Florida…darkly lit-dark wood-beer joints, with mediocre food, at best.

Dubliner Irish Pub located in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park…is the exception to the rule. For sure, it has the dark wood interior–and dark lighting… but its food is terrific. A recent outing had me “sampling” prime rib sliders, hamburger, shepherd’s pie, french fries and macaroni & cheese…all absolutely delicious. Throw in top-notch djs and bands (Thursday-Saturday) covering the 1960’s-2009, reasonable prices/pleasant waitstaff and an out- door dining patio for “people watching” the Mizner Park crowd…and you got a real good joint.

Dubliner’s menu has all of the “Irish” standards…plus loads of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches and meat/chicken/seafood entrees. It’s got a real nice beer selection and hard stuff.

Dubliner Irish Pub is open 7 days a week 4pm-2am.

Amazing Benefits Of Oranges!

Posted on July 6th, 2017 · American Breakfast Music/Events/Other · 5 Comments »

* Amazing Benefits Of Oranges!

This one goes under “Certain Things Bear Repeating”…

Posted on April 27th, 2016.

* Amazing Benefits Of Oranges!

Jeff Eats just finished reading “Amazing Benefits Of Oranges” on Hairstylescut.com and I thought I’d pass it onto you guys! Just between us, the article doesn’t break any new ground- but every so often it doesn’t hurt to refresh what one already knows!

Despite all the really good stuff that Jeff Eats eats like pizza, bbq pork ribs, fatty corned beef on rye, French fries, onion rings etc.- I do make it my business to drink plenty of fresh squeezed juices and eat all kinds of nuts/fruits/vegetables. So far so good- in the health department!

Anyway, on this orange juice thing, just make sure that you drink fresh squeezed stuff and not pastureized or concentrated crap!

Let’s consider today’s tale- “A Public Service Announcement.”

Orange Juice Provides

1. Drinking a glass of orange juice a day can keep the doctor away. Orange juice is known to contain a high percentage of Vitamin C, which is helpful in boosting the immune system. So, you will be less likely to catch various illnesses, such as colds or the flu.

2. Various medical studies show that orange juice may help lower both cholesterol levels and blood pressure levels, which are two very common problems among middle aged men and women.

3. Orange juice is thought to be very high in antioxidants. What this means is that this yummy juice may help prevent various forms of cancer, including breast cancer and prostate cancer.

4. Fairly large amounts of potassium, which is an essential nutrient for the body, can be found in orange juice.

5. Studies have shown that orange juice can help reduce the risk of heart disease, which is because it can help improve circulation.

6. Orange juice contains Folate, which plays a major role in the reproduction of new cells and can help with the healing process.

7. Research has shown that orange juice has anti-inflammatory properties. If you experience a lot of arthritis-related pain, orange juice may really help relieve it.

8. Due to the antioxidants found in orange juice, many people believe that drinking it on a regular basis may help aid in weight loss. Of course, with all of the other health benefits that orange juice has to offer, it is probably a good note to not drink the juice simply due to weight loss reasons, as it may or may not be effective.

Do you know the Nutritional Value of an Orange?

Calories: – 105 calories in 1 orange with peel

Fat: – Very less and has “good fats”. So we can say that it is below 1% of RDA of fat.

Sodium:- about 3 mg of sodium

Carbohydrates:- 25g in one orange

Protien:- It has 2g of protien

Vitamins & Minerals:- Lots of vitamn C: thats 200% of RDA. Also has vitamin A and rich in calcium and iron.

You Need to Know:

Now you know about the benefits but what type of juice is Good? Lets learn more about commenrcial orange juice and concentrate form

1. Frozen concentrated Orange Juice

In this type of juice, the squeezed juice is pasteurized and then heated to evaporate all the water. Then, this concentrated juice is mixed with 60% sugar by weight and stored in freezer. Therefore, it is best to avoid “Juice from Concentrate” as it has high level of sugar and very less nutritional value because most of the vitamins is lost during evaporation process.

2. Labeled “Not from Concentrate”

These juice are also same as concentrated juice only but with less flavor and sugar.

3. Fresh Squeezed Juice

This type is juice is pure and comes in unpasteurized form. They have a typical self life of 12 days. So, it is advisable to drink squeezed juice that is free from extra sugars and flavorings.
Drink Orange Juice in Moderation

Always remember that you do not need to drink a whole lot of orange juice in order to get these healthy benefits. In fact, since orange juice is fairly high in calories, avoid drinking too much of the stuff. Be sure to check the sugar content on the label when choosing orange juice if you really want to get most benefits from your orange juice and, ultimately, prevent weight gain (since high sugar levels can cause it).

Orange Juice With Pulp

It is often said that orange juice containing pulp tends to even healthier for the body, but it is an issue that is often debated. If you have a stomach condition, remember that orange juice is very acidic and for that reason, it may cause you to feel an upset stomach. Due to its acidity, orange juice can also cause tooth damage if you do not care for your teeth properly after drinking it.

***** Jacks’ Old Fashion Hamburger House, 4201 North Federal Highway, Oakland Park, Florida 33308 (954) 565-9960…&…591 South Cypress Road, Pompano Beach, Florida 33060, (954) 942-2844.

Jack’s Old Fashion Hamburger House has 2 South Florida locations…the Oakland Park joint opened in 1972 and the Pompano Beach store in 1973.

Jack’s is a fast-food hamburger joint. Jack’s has other stuff, but HAMBURGERS ARE THE GAME. Both Jack’s locations are literally “landmarks.” They are always busy. The hamburgers are very-very good. The fries are okay, but nothing to write home about. Over the years, I must have eaten (combined) in the 2 different locations something like 30 times. These joints are fast-food joints circa 1970. I like the “unmodern” (if that’s a real word) look…old tables and no stainless steel/formica/vivid colors/signage that joints like Burger King, Wendy’s etc have. I also like the “crowd” that these joints draw. Guys in suits, families, blue color workers…the parking lots, have cars in every price range…the point, Jack’s has a legendary following in South Florida.

Now for the good news and bad news…To be perfectly honest with you, I use to make special trips to eat at Jack’s…Now that Five Guys Burgers & Fries has started to open in the South Florida market, I would rather eat at Five Guys than Jack’s. Like I said, Jack’s hamburgers are very-very good… while Five Guys’ hamburgers and fries are terrific. Though it’s a story for another day, Five Guys Burgers & Fries is quickly developing a cult following in South Florida…and for that matter, all of the United States.

Don’t get me wrong…you won’t be disappointed eating at Jack’s…which is open 7 days a week from 10:30am-9:30pm…but this 1970’s icon is now getting some real tough competition from Five Guys.
