With National Coffee Day around the corner and the U.S. coffee industry currently valued at $48 billion, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2017’s Best Coffee Cities in America, along with its list of top coffee deals and discounts offered by retailers during the holiday.

To determine the best local coffee scenes in America, WalletHub’s data crunchers compared the 100 largest cities across 14 key indicators of a strong coffee culture. The data set ranges from coffee shops, coffee houses and cafés per capita to average price per pack of coffee.

Best vs. Worst
Miami has the lowest average price for a pack of coffee, $3.43, which is 2.3 times lower than in Honolulu, the city with the highest at $7.87.

Fremont, California, has the highest average annual spending on coffee per household, $185.00, which is three times higher than in Detroit, the city with the lowest at $61.29.

Gilbert, Arizona, has the highest share of households that own a single-cup/pod-brewing coffee maker, 21.1 percent, which is 2.9 times higher than in Hialeah, Florida, the city with the lowest at 7.3 percent.

New York has the most coffee shops, coffee houses and cafés (per square root of population), 1.0739, which is 45.5 times more than in Laredo, Texas, the city with the fewest at 0.0236.

Portland, Oregon, has the most coffee and tea manufacturers (per square root of population), 0.0180, which is 36 times more than in Riverside and San Bernardino, California, the cities with the fewest at 0.0005.

Real simple tale, yesterday Jeff Eats picked-up a package of 2 15oz Lilly’s Supreme Chocolate Babka-$3.97 at Costco Wholesale, 17800 Congress Avenue, Boca Raton, Florida 33487, (561) 981-5004- absolutely delicious and priced beyond-cheap! A cursory check, found Whole Foods in Boca Raton- selling (the same) 1 15oz Lilly’s Supreme Chocolate Babka for $7.98. Like I just said, Costco’s price was dirt-cheap!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one- real good stuff! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, if it wasn’t for Mrs. Jeff Eats annoying the crap out of me this morning- not to, I would have eaten a whole Babka in one sitting! Like I just said real good! It may sound crazy but 2 big slices of this chocolate babka and 2 cups of hot black coffee and Jeff Eats was kinda like a pig in sh@t- if you know what I mean,

Rock N Roll Ribs is a “bbq joint”…it opened about 3 months ago…one of its co-owners is Nicko McBrain, the legendary drummer of the metal-band Iron Maiden…by the way, Nicko lives in Boca Raton. So, you now know— how “it” probably got the name Rock N Roll Ribs. The joint, has videos of bands playing, records on the wall, hanging guitars and a drum set as its decor. Rock N Roll Ribs is located in a shopping center on State Road 7…I think there are more empty stores than going businesses. Personally, I think that the spot stinks, but hey, it ain’t my dime! The joint isn’t all that big, maybe 80 seats. From what I understand, although Nicko is one of the owners and hangs out there- when he is in “town” (he wasn’t there, last night), it is run by “Moby” Rick Baum who according to the joint’s “pr” has an extensive background in developing/opening/running restaurants—the guy also plays guitar in Nicko’s (other band) McBrain Damage… What I can tell you, based on last night’s meal, this guy Moby Rick knows his bbq.

Now let’s talk food…tried- baby back ribs, bbq chicken, pork sandwich, cheese burger, french fries, garlic toast—this is some of the best bbq that I have had “down here” in South Florida. This joint’s bbq is not heavy-smokey, but rather “sweet” grilled stuff, that is right on the money.

On the pricing front—very reasonable…a full rack of baby back ribs with garlic toast and 2 sides goes for $15.95…a 1/2 chicken with garlic toast and 2 sides $12.95.

On the service side—very pleasant and efficient waitstaff.

Like I said before, 80 seats, looks better than a Hard Rock Cafe, real good food, real good prices, real good service, lousy location. Hey! Nicko and Rick, you got a great concept here…I just hope that people “find” you.

One final thought, you might like to check www.ironmaiden.com and www.myspace.com/mcbraindamge and read about Nicko and Rick’s music and bandmates. Just so you know, Nicko-is considered by many, to be one of the top rock drummers of all-time.

I really enjoyed Rock N Roll Ribs.

All Jeff Eats can tell you guys is- if Tasty’s Fresh Burgers & Fries was anywhere near my Boca Raton abode (which it isn’t) I would probably weigh something like 423 lbs because I’d literally be eating there everyday! Trust me when I tell you, the joint’s Crown Royal Burger kills! Just so we are straight with each other, Tasty’s double cheeseburger ain’t no slouch either- and the rest of its burgers, fries, shakes, etc- are all scarily delicious!
