Max Weinberg’s Juke Box

classic rock and roll dance party

with Max Weinberg and The Max Weinberg Jukebox!

*Please note: Gift cards and account credits may not be used for the purchase of this show.

We are clearing the tables to make a dance floor, running a cash bar and bringing you Max Weinberg’s Jukebox for a night unlike any other! Tickets will sell fast, so buy early and don’t miss this interactive concert where YOU pick the playlist!

Fresh off the hugely successful The River Tour 2016-2017 of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, where the group played 89 concerts nearly four hours long each night in 15 countries amassing $300,000,000 in ticket sales, Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Drummer Max Weinberg is now touring with his new concept—“Max Weinberg’s Jukebox” and it’s coming to Arts Garage on February 17th.

A truly interactive experience, Weinberg invites the audience to create in real time the set list he and his crack four piece group will play that night. Performing songs from the glory days of rock and roll– guests get to choose from a video menu of over 200 songs– everything from the Beatles to the Stones to Bruce and The E Street Band’s biggest hits—and hear the group play ‘em the way you want to hear them played!

That’s right—the crowd yells out their choices and Max plays them! This unique approach makes you feel like you are part of the band. How many times have you attended a show where you yearned to hear your favorite performer play your favorite song? With Max Weinberg’s Jukebox your dream will be realized.

Weinberg, the driving rhythmic force propelling The E Street Band for 43 years, is also known to millions of fans for his 17 year stint as the bandleader and comedic foil to talk show host Conan O’Brien and is the only musician in history to make the leap from a starring role in one of the world’s iconic rock groups to leading his eponymous band on NBC’s “Late Night” and “The Tonight Show”. And if that wasn’t enough Weinberg managed to do both gigs simultaneously from 1999-2009. Throughout his 50 year professional career Weinberg has played with some of the biggest and most diverse names in music-—James Brown, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, BB King, Tony Bennett, Ringo Starr, John Fogerty, Stevie Winwood, Sheryl Crow—even Isaac Hayes performing his legendary “Shaft” with a 30 piece orchestra Max conducted on the Late Night broadcast. In 2009 Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band performed the halftime show at Super Bowl 43 to the largest audience ever recorded for that event—over 100,000,000 people. Weinberg also has the distinction of being the drummer on the two biggest selling rock albums in history—Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The USA” and Meatloaf’s “Bat Out Of Hell”.

In true rock club fashion, we will have two full cash bars. No tables, no BYOW – just you and the band! Just bring yourself, friends and your dancing shoes! Relive the glory days with Max Weinberg’s Jukebox!

Doughboy (Boca Raton)

***** Doughboy, 126 Northeast 2nd Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, 617-1887.

Hole in the wall doughnut shop that opened in Boca Raton something like 2-months ago.

Interesting simple concept, menu of mini vanilla cake doughnuts topped with all kinds of stuff. Order/pickup at counter, handful of tables. The doughnuts are sold in lots of 3, 6, 16, 25.

The other day, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats picked-up some doughnuts at Doughboy and I gotta tell you guys- real good stuff! That said, I’m kinda thinking that the doughnuts were way too pricey (basically a buck a piece) and the menu (mini cake doughnuts) way too limited to make this joint a successful business. Now, I could be wrong- but the call here (unless the landlord is a partner in the business, or the landlord isn’t charging Doughboy rent,or the rent is ridiculously low for the area, or Doughboy’s owners are gluttons for punishment with deep pockets) is delicious doughnuts- but the business has a limited shelf-life!

Doughboy is open Tuesday-Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday 8am-8pm, Sunday 8am-3pm, closed Monday.

You can check-out menu/prices/info at godoughboy.com.

***** Zinger’s Delicatessen, 7132 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 826-7323.

No more than 34 minutes ago- at the intersection of Yamato Road and Lyons Road in Boca Raton-Jeff Eats saw a gigantic tractor trailer unloading a load of cars-with New York and New Jersey license plates. To save the owners of those cars- the time and effort of writing Jeff Eats, I am reprinting “Pastrami, Corned Beef, Brisket- My Man!”- which appeared on November 17, 2014.

Now, just between you guys and Jeff Eats, we all know that “food reviewing” is nothing but one huge game! What I like you may hate and vice versa! So with that in mind, I’m gonna tell you, that Jeff Eats considers Zinger’s Delicatessen in Boca Raton to be the best full service NY Kosher Style Deli in-South Florida! For sure, I haven’t been to “every” deli or bagel joint down here- but trust me, I’ve fressed in my fair share-and “I” haven’t found “one” that’s better or as consistent as Zinger’s is! Just so we are straight with each other, Jeff Eats has eaten in a number of other really good South Florida- NY Kosher Style Delis/kosher delis/and bagel joints but if I had to pick just one-to provide food for Jeff Eats’-“Death Row Deli Last Meal” it would be Zinger’s. Now, if for some reason Zinger’s doesn’t work for you (i.e. too far away, too cheap, too expensive, Jeff Eats knows-dick about pastrami/corned beef/brisket), etc.), I got a ton of “stories” on other joints- so nobody here is gonna starve!

***** Pastrami, Corned Beef, Brisket- My Man!

A recent e-mail,

Jeff,
Maybe you can help me out here.
I’m new to the area (Delray Beach).
I’m looking for a place to get great corned beef, pastrami, brisket sandwiches like they serve at Katz’s in NYC. Not interest in the Natioanl Deli garbage that Too Jays and bagel joints serve up.
Would really appreciate some recommendations.
Thanks,
MY MAN
*****
MY MAN:

First, welcome to South Florida.

If you check JEFF EATS-up at the top there is a SEARCH BOX…type in PASTRAMI, or CORNED BEEF, or BRISKET- (you may also want to throw in DELI-for good measure) and it will pull-up for you all of the “columns” that relate to pastrami, corned beef, brisket. If memory and my waistline serve me correctly, you’ll find a load of joints that make some pretty decent stuff.

Just so you know, Jeff Eats’ style isn’t to be in the pecking order business. What I might like, you might not like, so forth and so on! With that in mind, IF I had to pick ONE JOINT-near you- to feed my face with Pastrami, Corned Beef and Brisket it would be ZINGER’S DELICATESSEN in Boca Raton…now, if Zinger’s doesn’t work for you- don’t worry, there are a load of other joints that will fix-you up just fine!

By the way, based on your e-mail, I’m thinking that you’ll soon be “writing” Jeff Eats about good-Chinese joints. So, save the ink…use the same SEARCH BOX for my “picks”-you know, sweet & sour pork, egg rolls, pan fried dumplings, so on and so forth…

Hope this helps you out.

DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday- 12/31/17- Dubble Bubble Bubble Gum)

***** DISH OF THE WEEK (Sunday-12/31/17- Dubble Bubble Bubble Gum).

One of Jeff Eats’ favorite menu items…

DUBBLE BUBBLE BUBBLE GUM
$14.99 (300 pieces)

OldTymeCandy.com
(866) 929-5477
Latest Review: None

Gonna let you in on something that very few people know, for the past 25 years or so- Jeff Eats has been a “closet” bubble gum chewer! I literally- chew the stuff all day long at home! My favorite brand is Dubble Bubble Bubble Gum but just between us- I wouldn’t kick Bazooka Bubble Gum out of bed!

Based on price, my favorite “source” for Dubble Bubble Bubble Gum is OldTymeCandy.com -that said, there are a gazillion retailers who carry the brand! For example, Target gets $2.09 for the 1lb bag pictured down below!

As to why Jeff Eats loves bubble gum- let me refer you to psychiatrist Ronald Furman, MD – who can provide you with a list of “reasons” for the habit…

Hong Kong City BBQ (Tamarac) & Village People (The Pavilion- Coconut Creek Casino- Coconut Creek)

For you guys who need to know more…

***** Hong Kong City BBQ, 5301 North State Road 7, Tamarac, Florida 33319, (954) 777-3832.

Got a real-good Chinese joint for you…Hong Kong City BBQ in Tamarac.

The beautiful thing about Hong Kong City BBQ is that nobody in your car is gonna bitch about going there. The reason Jeff Eats says that, the joint has dim sum, Brooklyn-Jewish-American Chinese food circa 1957 and authentic Chinese food (whatever that is?).

Anyway,

A party of 6-of us recently gave Hong Kong City BBQ a shot and I gotta tell you, the food was right on the money.

Let me give you a fast run down of what was ordered…
House Wonton Soup.
Egg Drop Soup.
Chicken Corn Soup.
Pan Fried Pot Stickers.
BBQ Roasted Honey Roasted Spareribs.
BBQ Roasted 1/2 Duck.
Shrimp Pan Fried Noodles.
Roast Pork Fried Rice.
Peking Pork Chops.
Sweet & Sour Pork.
Steam Whole Tilapia.
Lobster Cantonese.

Now, nothing for nothing–not one person in our party “didn’t find what to eat” and everyone agreed that the food was really good. The prices are “neighborhood” Chinese joint prices, the décor is neighborhood Chinese joint décor. Playing to its name–Hong King City BBQ (with the emphasis on BBQ) the joint has some bbq chickens/ducks/pigs hanging over the front counter–which gives the joint a nice New York City Chinatown Dump feel.

You guys know that Jeff Eats really isn’t into doing “pecking orders”…that said, the House Wonton Soup, BBQ Honey Roasted Spareribs, Peking Pork Chops and Sweet & Sour Pork were at the top of my list. Like I said before, everything was really good, but the stuff I just mentioned–was really-really good.

I’m just guessing here, but I’m thinking that some of you guys may want to know: Does Hong Kong City BBQ have any “Early Bird” deals? Yes “Virginia”-from 3pm-7pm- 7 days a week Hong Kong City BBQ has an Early Bird which gets you–soup/egg roll/white or fried rice/entrée.

Let me wrap this one up,

Jeff Eats really enjoyed Hong Kong City BBQ. Give this joint a shot- I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

You can check menu/other stuff at www.hkcitybbq.com.

Hong Kong City BBQ is open Monday-Friday 11am-11pm, Saturday-Sunday 10:30am-11pm.
