***** Tipsy Cow, 25261 Chamber of Comerce Road, Bonita Springs 34135, (239) 949-7172.

Found a real good ice cream joint for you guys to checkout- Tipsy Cow in Bonita Springs.

With the understanding that Jeff Eats and for that matter Mrs. Jeff Eats have never met an ice cream cone nor an ice cream cup that we didn’t like- I gotta tell you that the other day we had home-made ice cream at a joint named, Tipsy Cow and it was off the chart delicious!

Real simple concept, home-made ice cream/sorbet, order-pickup at counter, rotating flavors, inside table and counter seating/ outside table seating.

You guys and Jeff Eats both know that that this Jeff Eats’ food “reviewing” gig is purely a subjective game…you know, what I like, you may hate and vice versa! With that in mind, I’m telling you guys that this Tipsy Cow joint’s ice cream ran circles around most of the ice cream Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have had down here in sunny Florida during the past 26 years. Like I just said- subjective call…

You guys can checkout tipsycowfl.com for menu/prices/info,

The Tipsy Cow is open Tuesday-Saturday 2pm-10pm, closed Monday.

***** Way Beyond Bagels, 16850 Jog Road, Delray Beach, Florida 33446, (561) 638-1320.

Way Beyond Bagels makes some of the best bagels and bialys in all of South Florida. In addition, its appetizing…like tuna salad, chicken salad are absolutely superb.

Check menu/prices at www.waybeyondbagels.com.

This joint opened about 5 years ago as a take-out which had a few outdoor tables. Based on its immediate and overwhelming success, Way Beyond Bagels rented the store next to its shop and created a cafeteria-type setup where you can eat the stuff that you purchase at the counter. In addition to all types of bagels, bialys, breads, rolls and cold appetizing, Way Beyond Bagels also has hot breakfast items and meats.

This joint is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. On Saturday and Sunday it is absolutely “zoosville.” I am telling you that Way Beyond Bagels’ stuff is as good as it gets down here in South Florida…that’s why it is always jammed with eat-in and take-out orders.

***** Palm Beach Bagel Bakery & Restaurant, 9858 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33496 (561) 883-3535.

Palm Beach Bagel Bakery & Restaurant has literally taken Boca Raton by storm…in 2 short years, this bagel-deli has opened 3 terrific joints. The original location is on Clint Moore Road…the second and third locations are at, 21065 Powerline Road, Boca Raton (561) 477-7077 and 1200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton (561) 998-8868.

Down here in South Florida, you don’t get away with opening 3 joints in record time, without having the goods…Palm Beach’s bagles/bialys are terrific… not to mention delicious appetizing, deli meats, sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads.

Palm Beach Bagel’s 3 locations are open 7 days a week from 7am-3pm.

***** Mike’s Galley, 2514 Sout Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach Shores, Florida 32118, (386) 756-2020.

Got a real good breakfast-lunch diner for you guys to checkout- Mike’s Galley in Daytona Beach Shores.

Easy tale to tell- open 7 days a week 7am-2pm, table/booth/counter seating, reasonably priced menu loaded with breakfast stuff/ burgers/ salads/ sandwiches/ entrees/ desserts (with many items baked in house), full liquor bar, some kind of corny-dated nautical themed decor.

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats literally just finished eating breakfast at Mike’s Galley and I gotta tell you guys that this joint’s food and service were right on the money! Straight-up…if you’re a diner “fan”- Mike’s Galley will- absolutely positively work for you!

Just a heads-up, Mike’s Galley bakes-up cinnamon buns and pecan buns that kill. Be smart and make sure you order them! One other thing, the joint’s donuts ain’t no slouches either!

Trust Jeff Eats on this one- Mike’s Galley is a winner!

***** Renzo’s Cafe & Pizzeria, 1906 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33496 (561) 994-0170.

A recent e-mail received by Jeff Eats…

Jeff,
My husband and I just retired and moved (8 days ago) from Ditmas Avenue & Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn to the Altis Of Boca Raton, 5500 North Military Trail in Boca Raton. Both of us are 68 and like you, were born in Brooklyn. Heard about your site from a new neighbor. Question for you, What’s the best Pizza joint which is close to Altis where we can pickup and get delivery of ‘real’ New York Pizza?
Thanks,
TR

TR,

Welcome to Florida.

Your question is a no-brainer…Renzo’s Cafe & Pizzeria, 1906 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33496 (561) 994-0170, renzoscafepizza.com- and the joint is maybe a 5 minute drive from your new residence!

Absolutely dynamite pizza and Renzo’s looks, smells, and has the vibe of the neighborhood Brooklyn pizza joints that you guys grew up on…

Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats have been getting stuff from Renzo’s for years…

Thanks for reading…

***** Renzo’s Cafe & Pizzeria, 1906 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33496 (561) 994-0170.

In Boca, there are a handful of joints that have the name RENZO’s in their “title.” Just so there is no misunderstanding here—I’m talking about the Renzo’s Cafe & Pizzeria that’s right across from Calusa Elementary School on Clint Moore Road.

Okay…you can eat in (there a handful of tables inside and outside)–but, this is basically a takeout pizza joint. A “what you’d expect” red-sauce menu—appetizers, soups, salads, subs, pastas, calzones, pizza, meat-seafood-chicken entrees. You can check the menu/prices at www.renzoswest.com.

Tried this joint the other night and it is really good. “Sampled” a plain old large pizza, veal parm, chicken marsala, linguini-white clam sauce…like, I said really good—especially enjoyed the pizza which was thin-crispy-sweet sauce.

This is a neighborhood joint.

So you WEST Bocaratonians- now know about a really good joint for eat-in/takeout…that is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

***** BurgerFi, 4343 North Ocean Drive, Lauderdale by the Sea 33308, (954) 489-0110.

Walked into this free-standing “fast food” burger joint last Saturday night—and immediately new that I was going to love it. The easiest way to describe BurgerFi–Shake Shack (see 8/1/10 review) meets Five Guys Famous Burgers (see 11/2/06 review) with indoor and outdoor “picnic table seating.”

Let me make this real simple…one of the best fast-food cheeseburgers and hand cut fries that I’ve had in a very long time.

At this stage of the proceedings, check www.burgerfi.com for menu/prices/photos.

I am telling you, if burgers and fries are your game, you are absolutely gonna love this joint.

As a 1949 “baby” I think I know a thing or two about the fast-food-burger industry. Trust me on this, old Jeff Eats has eaten his fair share of burgers and fries.

I think I know exactly what BurgerFi is “trying” to do here…The joint’s decor looks like a roadside fast-food burger joint circa 1950’s/1960’s with some-modern touches…throw in “gourmet” burgers and “upscale” fries-other stuff…and BurgerFi’s got all of the bases covered. It’s cooler looking than Five Guys but cheaper than the “upscale” full service-burger restaurants that are currently America’s latest craze.

Check Burgerfi’s site, there are a handful of pictures which will give you some idea as to what I am yapping about here.

Like I said before, if you like burgers, fries, hot dogs, custard…you’ll love this joint.

BurgerFi is open 7 days a week 11am-1am.

For you guys who actually read Jeff Eats’ tales in their entirety- here’s a not too favorable tale I did on Morton’s The Steakhouse wayback on 7/25/08.

All I can tell you guys is that to this very day Jeff Eats is still- not too keen on Morton’s- that said, currently- seven days a week (in its Bar from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close) Morton’s offers select discount beverages and $6 bar bites which are a very good deal.

Posted on July 25th, 2008

Morton’s The Steakhouse, 5050 Town Center Circle, Boca Raon, Florida 33486 (561)392-7724.

Morton’s is a national chain of “upscale-white-table cloth steakhouses.” There are currently 7 Florida locations.

I have eaten in the Boca Raton joint twice. The food is fair. The service is as phony as a 3-dollar bill. The prices…are upscale steakhouse prices, figure a complete meal runs somewhere around 100 bucks a head. Morton’s like every other upscale steakhouse prides itself on having tip-top service. Morton’s is also “big” on tableside presentation…having its wait-staff show/explain “raw cuts of meat” during the ordering process. The wait-staff also “shows” desserts before ordering.

In my most recent outing, the waiter during the meat-showing told my party, ” My personal favorite is the 24 oz porterhouse.” Amazingly…near the end of the meal, the very same waiter (I guess feeling a bit comfortable with our group) told me that he was “a vegetarian.”

Like the waiter, Morton’s is nothing but a scripited joint. The wait-staff could all work as tour-guides at Disney World…”watchout for that shark on the right side of the boat…boy that was sure close.”

If you still want details, Morton’s website is www.mortons.com.

Like I said 2 seconds ago, Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats.
