Yeah- I know. we all know the story and we’ve all seen a musical “version” of Buddy-The Big Bopper & Ritchie play a concert and then all three get killed in an airplane crash…

That said, The Day The Music Didn’t Die video “convinced” me to pick-up 2 tickets!

Sixty years ago Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash, it was called “THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED”.
But what if the plane never crashed?
What if they were still here today?
What if the music NEVER DIED!

This musical tribute will take you on a journey unlike any other show you have seen before while Ritchie still rocks the guitar, the Bopper still answers the phone and Buddy still wears the same glasses.

What if you could say goodbye?

A meet and greet will be held after the show for all who want to take pictures with the band in the front lobby so don’t forget to bring your camera.

Last night Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats ate at fast-food burger joint, Charm City in Deerfield Beach.

Nothing for nothing, we have been eating at this- order at/pickup at the counter joint since April 17, 2008-so last night’s terrific- bacon cheeseburger, turkey burger, French fries, onion rings came as no “surprise”…

Seeing all of those New York, New Jersey. Ontario license plates on the road,

Just thought I’d mention Charm City to you guys- who have yet to eat there…this joint is an absolute winner! Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Charm City runs circles and I do mean circles around fast food burger players like Five Guys and BurgerFi -now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with either of them (Jeff Eats is a real steady customer of both chains), but they are cookie cutter mold type operations, like-you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all!…Charm City is a one-shot-deal, there is only one…so on and so forth.

Great food. Super reasonable prices. Cool vibe!

Printed down below is Jeff Eats’ “review” from October 20, 2009.

Back on April 17, 2008 I did a review on a “burger” joint named Charm City Burger Company. If you check that review, I absolutely loved the food. At that time, the joint had only been open for something like 3-months…and I questioned its “longevity” based on its piss-poor location. To make a long story short…the joint is still around– has new owners– has a cult-like following—and the food is absolutely DELICIOUS.

At this stage of this re-review check www.charmcityburgers.com for menu/prices.

All I can tell you, is that I was in the joint last week…delicious bacon cheeseburger, terrific french fries, great sweet potato fries, incredible chicken wings. sensational grilled chicken and soft shell crab rolls.

Order/pickup at the counter. Absolutely nothing fancy here. Just…outstanding food.

Charm City is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

Charm City is a fast-food burger joint. It has been in business for about 3 months and looks like a charming cross between a 1950’s fast-food restaurant and a Greenwich Village coffeehouse. I ate dinner last night and the burger-fries were delicious as was the crabcake on a bun.

Charm City has 2 BIG PROBLEMS…its signage stinks. If you aren’t looking for the joint—you are not finding the joint. In addition, its location on a City Street in Deerfield Beach is absolutely horrendous.

If Charm City was in South Beach, it would be a goldmine. Location, location, location.

If you live in Deerfield Beach or are in the area, Charm City is a good place for a fast-food lunch or dinner. It is open 7 days a week.

Bronx man sues NBC Universal over ‘unlimited’ soda refills at theme park

Let’s call this one- forewarned is forearmed…

Bronx man sues NBC Universal over ‘unlimited’ soda refills at theme park
By Emily Saul and Natalie O’Neill October 18, 2019 |

A Bronx man is suing NBC Universal after he paid for an “unlimited refill” soda machine deal at one of the company’s theme parks — only to discover he had to wait a whole 10 minutes between each pour.

Luis Arnaud is bubbling with anger over the “false advertising” — saying he learned while trying to “quench his thirst” that the refills were in fact “limited” to a measly “total of only six per hour,” according to the class-action lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court Thursday.

Arnaud says he visited Universal’s Island of Adventure in Orlando, Fla., on July 30 and bought a 16-ounce “Coca-Cola Freestyle” cup — which purported to come with “unlimited” refills all day — for $16.99.

The next day, he reactivated the cup at Universal’s sister theme park Volcano Bay for $8.99, the suit says.

The cups come with a computer chip to show you’ve paid for the bottomless deal — but Arnaud learned they were also tracking how often users top up, and are “programmed” to limit refills to every 10 minutes.

When he tried to “quench his thirst and refill his cup again” before that period was up, the machine flashed a message rejecting his request, the suit says.

“Hi. You are not quite ready to fill up,” it proclaimed — along with the number of minutes he had to wait — according to photos of the failed attempt in his suit.

His suit also includes ads for the “freestyle” deal at the park, which promotes “unlimited” refills with “100+ drink choices” — but doesn’t appear to mention the limits.

The move is a “deceptive” and “unconscionable trade and business practice,” the suit charges.

“He would not have been willing to pay the sum he paid had he known that the Products did not provide unlimited refills and were mislabeled and falsely advertised,” the suit reads.

“Defendant delivered Products with significantly less value than was affirmed by their representations, thereby depriving him of the benefit of his bargain and injuring him in an amount up to the purchase price.”

Arnaud is seeking unspecified damages.

NBC Universal didn’t return a request for comment Thursday.

Arnaud could not be reached for comment.

Every so often Jeff Eats gets asked, “What’s one of your best bbq joints?”

Just so you know, it’s Shiver’s BBQ- the only problem I got with the joint is that it’s in Homestead and Jeff Eats lives in Boca Raton! Trust me, BIG DRIVE!

Long story short, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “just” finished eating lunch there…bbq babyback ribs, bbq beef ribs, bbq chicken, corn nuggets, cornbread soufflé, sweet potato souffle, corn on the cob, French fries- everything was dynamite!

Jeff Eats first told you guys about Shiver’s on September 18, 2011…like I said earlier, Big Drive!

All I know, if Shiver’s was closer to my Boca Raton home, I’d “literally” be eating in the joint all the time!

***** Shiver’s BBQ, 28001 South Dixie Highway, Homestead, Florida 33033, (305) 248-2272.

Let’s play Southerner…got a great bbq joint for you, Shiver’s BBQ in Homestead. Shiver’s has been around for something like 50 years. Just so you know, we are talking “smoked goods” here—so, if the sweet sauces of Tony Roma’s or Bobby Rubino’s are your game–come prepared! Personally, I’m not a huge smoked-fan…but Shiver’s like the Three Pigs, has the formula for Just Right. You can check menu/prices at www.shiversbbq.com.

Shiver’s got a cute idea going…you eat at long picnic tables which line the joint. So in theory, you “could” be eating with strangers. Over the years, I’ve seen this seating thing done at other joints—Shorty’s B-B-Q in Miami (9200 South Dixie Highway) which has been around since 1951, has a similar setup (see review 7/10/08)…I also remember eating in a few Amish joints in Lancaster, Pennsylvania—they had “group” seating, but also had family style portions—but that’s a whole ‘nother story.

A recent outing had me doing…corn nuggets, macaroni & cheese, cornbread souffle, french fries, babyback ribs, bbq chicken, pulled pork. Let me make this real-simple…Shiver’s BBQ is right-up there with the best bbq joints that- this originally from Brooklyn boy has ever eaten in. Everything was outrageously delicious.

Y’all–Shiver’s is a homerun.

Shiver’s BBQ is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-9pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm.
